A chatty librarian and an introverted rockstar ending up as unconventional roommates? It might be a match made in heaven. Or a total disaster. When Bridger Cole sings, the women of America think he's singing right to them. No one needs to know every lyric is inspired by his best friend's little sister--the woman who annoys him and makes him want to grow old in matching rocking chairs at the same time. She definitely annoys him more. Usually. Everything changes when she shows up in a crisis--and she's looking for a roommate. But when the press catches wind of a new woman in his life, Bridger's management is quick to use the opportunity to repair his wicked rockstar reputation with the public. Use his lifelong frenemy in a good-girl changes the bad-boy ploy? Easy. Watch her sing in his kitchen each morning and become besties with his dog? Harder. Avoid the feelings he's never admitted for his best friend's sister? Impossible. Perfect for readers who love a good mix of sweet and sizzle, toe-curling kisses, swoony book boyfriends, and a happily ever after.
I live in Utah with my husband, our four kids, our dog who thinks she is human, and a rather suspicious cat. A fantasy anthology which included my work in 2018 hit the USA Today Bestseller's list. I have written several fantasy and romance novels and adore both genres!
You'll most likely find me when I'm not writing trying to keep up with the kids, daydreaming, spending time in the mountains, and drinking too much caffeine.
From the 2021 stack of Kindle Unlimited books still awaiting reads. Easy, peasy, quick read. Angsty, friends-to-lovers rock-star romance with alcohol and drug related problems. He's her older brother's best friend. It's a clean romance with a bit of sexy and steamy short extra scenes available from the author that you'll have to download separately for free. I liked it ok -- just not anything that most readers haven't already read before.
Guys!!! This book was everything. It was just so cute and reading it made me ridiculously happy. It was such a sweet book. It wasn't perfect but it was everything I've been craving in a book.
I loved the couple, their tribe was amazing and everything just clicked.

I thought I was going to enjoy this book because of the brother’s best friend trope AND he was a rockstar but I was bored most of the time. It was probably just me, but I felt disconnected from the story when it would switch back and forth from the past and present chapters. I thought they would have had a deeper connection in the past but they kissed once and the rest of the time they were snarky around each other until one of them called truce. While I love that they have known each other since childhood and they secretly liked each other the entire time, I wish they hadn’t disconnected for so long to the point where she was going to marry someone else. He was also with other women at that point and it's hard to believe that he was in love with the FMC the entire time but didn’t make another move. I understand his addiction and the rehab, but we only saw glimpses of it and how the FMC was there for him through it. It makes sense that they found their way back to each other but I still think they were a bit boring and needed better chemistry. Bridger was very protective of Al and that was the only thing going for him because he wasn’t very memorable to me. I expected more from it, especially when he was going to use her to solidify his good guy image and they didn’t even do that right. There wasn’t anything wrong with the book exactly but it is just easily forgettable.

It wasn’t very enjoyable to me and that could have been because I wasn’t attached to the other side characters so I should have read the other books first. I just didn’t care for anyone in the book or if they ended up together.

This book was like every bad wattpad fan fiction trope brought to life. I need to find the tik toker that raved about this book and ask for my day back. The characters were way too childish and immature for the 26 and 28 year old ages they were given and the story flip flopped back and forth between years and POV’s in an unclear way that gave me a headache. I would’ve DNF’d this book but I refuse to be a quitter. Do not recommend.
Just looking at the cover you can’t tell there’s a deeper story inside with some angst and real connections made between people that grew up together. At least there’s no bare chested man on the cover, but I think a better cover would help this book. Just my opinion.
It’s about a woman who grew up with one of rock music’s heartthrobs. Her brother is his lifelong best friend. They’ve always had a thing for each other but barely even ever acknowledged it. When Alexis gets dumped two days before her wedding and loses everything, her brother asks Bridger to come to her rescue. They are in Las Vegas and it’s nearby the town they all grew up in. She goes to stay at his estate because she’s supposed to start classes for a master degree at the college nearby soon. And now Bridger has everything he’s always wanted. Except a woman from his past is set to blow up his life in a major way. And she does. Alexis gets sucked into the middle of all the drama. I’m going to leave it here. So much more happens.
Alexis was the best main character. She’s a run on talker and a wise cracker since childhood. Her and Bridger have always sniped at each other, but they’ve also been each other’s safety net. She was a breath of fresh air among a lot of other female characters that have little in personality in many other contemporaries I’ve read. She does carry a lot of hurt about many childhood memories. Bridger had the good family that fed and half the time housed Alexis and her brother due to a poor living situation. Then he goes through his own tragedy. So they are both a bit broken and scarred by life. Sex scenes are closed door and barely mentioned.
I enjoyed the read and may even look for other books in the series because there’s several characters that need their own happy endings. Trigger warning for substance abuse in the past that’s mentioned several times.
Oh I just loved Bridge and Al together and the progression of their love story. With Al being the little sister of his best friend and her just trying to figure out They are both so fiercely protective of each other that no one can mess with them. That is besides each other. He will slay dragons for her and she will continue to rant her rage at others until they see him through her eyes.
They have constantly bickered and I bet will until the end of time because well lets be clear: bickering is their love language! They both have some serious baggage with their ex’s being very dramatic and problematic. It is all about how they will either let them tear their newfound relationship apart or bring them closer together.
Bridge made it big and honestly has everything to do with the support and love of everyone around him. The support system is top notch and I cannot wait to dive into everyone else’s stories.
I’m only going to say this once so listen: if this series is not on your TBR…add it now! You’re welcome! :)
This is a wonderfully written love story about a rock star and his BFF’s sister. When Alexis’s fiancé dumps her, her brother Parker calls his friend Bridger to help out. All of them have been friends since childhood and the author does a lovely job weaving in memories of important events in their lives. Alexis and Bridger have a history that runs deep. That history makes them fiercely protective of each other while they simultaneously fight like cats and dogs. This book made me laugh out loud (the scene where Bridger had to carry Alexis out of a restaurant because she was so protective of him was hysterical), cry, and everything in between. These two have the kind of deep, trusting, relationship we all want, but so few have so we read about it. The only people who didn’t know they were in love and had been in love with each other since childhood were Alexis and Bridger.
Thanks, Deb for the fun recommendation! I ended up really enjoying this one. About halfway through I knew I wanted to read the rest of the series. I admit, Rockstars are not my type, but I really enjoyed Bridger and Alexis's love story. I thought Ms. Childs really pulled off the friends/enemies-to-lovers trope well here. I actually loved the underlying friendship, not only between Alexis and Bridger, but with Parker, Adam and Tate. That childhood friendship bond is so great and added a great layer to the characters. I thought this was well written, pacing was good, enough drama to keep you on your toes and a swoony romance. Enjoyable story and I can't wait to dive into the next one!

I read to the 33% point, bored, and wondering how much longer till we get to the good part? By a third of the way through a book, I should be so invested in a story, I can’t put it down. So, not the case here. Maybe it picks up. Most reviewers seemed to be enchanted with it. Maybe I just missed whatever it was, they saw. Nevertheless, at a third done, I’m done.
This book was super cute and I enjoyed it a lot! I loved the banter, the cute moments between characters, and the relationship between the characters. I love the friends to lovers trope and it made the story enjoyable.
I did notice a couple of spelling/grammar mistakes and while I liked that there wasn’t some major conflicts, it felt like the way everything was wrapped up was a little cheesy. I guess I was expecting more to happen.
Overall I’m giving it 4 stars, it’s a quick and fun read full of cute and funny moments.
Tw for: drug mentions, references to drug/alcohol addiction, references to abuse, loss of a parent (nothing super detailed, just a brief mention)

Argh. Why is Al such a pushover? I really wanted her to be quirky but also independent and strong and in a way, she is funny in her quirky way and she claims she is independent but is she really? Please don't get me started on strong... I really don't get why she stayed with her fiance. At all. He didn't treat her right, he very obviously was either super clumsy and awkward or just not into her. And to be fair, I don't think she was into him. She was only looking for the opposite of relationships her mom was having all her life...
Anyways, Al is inexperienced and heartbroken. And of course, dear Bridger, heartthrob and millionaire musician, is the opposite of inexperienced. He loves women or loved, really, cause the fame has caught up to him.
So get in on the ride... haven't read a book about an experienced, sexy rockstar and an inexperienced wanna be librarian in a long time. *cue sarcasm.

Stopped reading. Think I got to the 30% mark... Heroine doesn't even pretend to be tough. She is just insecure. And she and the hero kissed or something, maybe more than that, but they don't even acknowledge that.
Really enjoyed seeing how they went from friends to more after so many years. It was heartbreaking and moving at the same time the issues that Bridger and Alexis overcame. Can't wait for the next book in the series!
This is a well written rockstar romance with strong characters in Alexis and Bridger. The author weaves a heartwarming love story with realistic characters and story line. She does a terrific job bringing all the feels as she moves the story along. It's not all smooth sailing as they work to find their way. I loved the banter and reading their story. It moves fluidly with her perfectly painted scenes and is a wonderful start to a new series. Loved and recommend reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
3.5 stars for this sweet romance. It’s an angsty, forbidden romance with childhood friends to lovers, forced proximity, rock stars and evil exes. It was a quick, fast paced read with a great cast of side characters. The will they won’t they last a bit too long for me along with the hang up that Alexis’s brother would be so mad. I loved the back stories and the relationships all the friends have together. I’d definitely read the next one.
It’s a closed door romance with 0 spice, but there are extra scenes the author has available if you want the spicy version.
A quick, easy read that honestly was super cute. It was a very solid, typical romance but it was the perfect length, never dragged on, got to the point, and was felt new even though brother’s best friend has been done. I will admit their were some very cringy lines or moments even for it being a cheesy romance. But again, for what it was it really was a fun, cute read that kept me entertained and giddy. If you have kindle unlimited I would suggest reading it, but if you don’t it’s one of those books were if you read it great but I wouldn’t say go out of your way for it.
4.5 Alexis and Bridgers story was really heartwarming and full of so many emotions!
From start to finish I loved Alexis spunk and independence but most of all her heart! She is fiercely loyal and doesn’t hesitate to speak her mind! Bridger though was so broody and the love he holds inside was just so beautiful! Omg I just can’t say enough for who Bridger was and the battles he fought!
A first book for me by this author and I will def be reading more of her work!
“I will, Bridger Cole. I’ll marry you and I’ll love every perfectly broken piece of you, forever.”
I cannot express how much I liked this book. I came across this book early today and right when I started reading I knew this would be the first book I've actually finished recently. There was not a single boring part and it always kept my attention. I plan to start the next book soon because I'm obsessed with the characters in book two. I would absolutely recommend this book. So cute
So I asked (my friend in Facebook messenger) for a specific genre to read (because it's my favorite comfort genre), aka a sweet rockstar romance. (Sorry about the run-on sentence) She didn't have any suggestions at the time, but by morning, Facebook ads suggested this one. So thank you, creepy stalker AI, for the suggestion.
The writing/plotting was a little choppy, but it filled the niche I was looking for. Will probably read others in the series.
I was in a slump, couldn’t find anything to grab me, and I found it in the book. Who doesn’t love falling for a rockstar and a childhood friend too? I enjoyed the chemistry between Alexis and Bridger and the extra spicey scenes. I laughed with them, empathized with their pain, cried out in outrage, and finally, I cried with joy by the end of the story. The author shared their secret song and I loved it and the story.
Brother's best friend, fake dating, kind of enemies to lovers but did they ever actually hate each other, no.
This was very cute! I enjoyed every second of Alexis and Bridger's story. It was kind of predictable in a lot of places, but I don't care at all. I loved it!
I can't wait to read about more of the characters and their stories. Bring on Tate and Ellie!
This was so good. Again hooked by a reel on Insta. The flashbacks to the past were great. Loved getting the backstory. Their tension and banter was amazing. Then the fake dating trope, changing into real, them confessing, revelations, drama, angst and that last concert was just perfect. The side characters were fantastic. I don't even know what to comment on, there's a lot.
If you’re looking for a clean, lighthearted, swoony romance, then this is a great place to start!
While the book started slow for me, I found myself immediately drawn to MMC Bridger Cole’s softhearted, rockstar persona. As FMC Alexis’s brother’s best friend and her sworn enemy, he steps in to protect her after her heart has been crushed and she’s been left abandoned. I was hooked from the moment he accepted Parker’s phone call and met the challenge of rescuing Alexis with snark (and joy).
Mixing the enemies to lovers trope with a side of fake-dating and forced proximity, these two join forces and the story takes off. About 1/3 of the way through, the banter and flirting pick up and I found myself fully wrapped up in the story. While it wasn’t a never-been-done before story, the story was sexy and entertaining in a wholesome way that hinted at spice but doesn’t become explicit.
While I didn’t love Alexis and her character in the beginning (she came across as childish to me), her character grew on me and I ended up rooting for these two together about halfway through. The ending left me satisfied and I’ll definitely check out the other books in the series.
A solid three stars for me!
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts are my own and I was not required to post a positive review.
DNF 45%. I couldn't connect with the characters and had trouble following what was going on and I was bored reading it. I could have liked it by starting it at 2am and reading it straight away in an insomnia haze.
I loved book so much. I was slipping into a little slump and this was the perfect book to get me back in the groove. Thought it was going to be a nice fluffy romance, I was so wrong. I cried, laughed, get pissed. It was such a good and entertaining read.
