Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
You know a GREAT author when as you read you experience all the emotions and fears the characters feel. Your heart beats fast, you find it hard to breathe, and all you want to do is get warm, clean, and safe. I’m not one to like tight places or the thought of being under deep water or sand. I need to breathe and the fear of not being able to is very real. So when I read a book that makes me have these fears and emotions I know it is a GREAT book. I’m not sure I would ever want to be one of Christy Barritt’s characters because she puts them through so much! WOW! I’ve said this before, but it still is true. When you read any books by Christy Barritt you’ll be taken on a ride like you will never believe. Her writings are always full of suspense, action, twist, and turns. This one is no different. There is so much that happens from the first page to the last that you will need to remind yourself to breathe as you read this book. (Or at least try to breathe!) The book takes us from one twist to another. We as readers, don’t know who really has done it until the end. Try as I might, I’m always shaking my head and thinking, “why didn’t I guess that?” If you LOVE “who-done-it” stories with mystery, suspense, action, and a bit of relationship tension plus romance mixed in, you will love this book! You might even have to read the whole series because you will fall in love with this island and the people, so much so that you will want to know all the events that have happened. Christy Barritt is an author who knows how to keep you reading and reading and reading until you’ve realized you’re done and waiting for the next book to be released. I was overjoyed when I learned there was another Saltwater Cowboy story. Maybe there will be more. Christy Barritt spins her tales with so many twists and turns it will keep you hooked until the very end! I was captured from the very first line, and I know you will be too. I was given this book by the author which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
In this 6th Installment of The Saltwater Cowboys, it was fun to be invited to Grant and Abigail's wedding. (Readers can also enjoy this book as a stand-alone novel). But before they can say "I Do," Grant has to help his best friend Thaddeus and Abigail's best friend Miranda stay alive -- and solve a murder. Thaddeus is an FBI Agent from Texas. Miranda is a reporter from NY. They had only met one time before and thought they really clicked -- but then let miscommunication and misunderstandings stand in the way of getting to know each other better. Now, here for the wedding, maybe they will get another chance. But the road to reconnection is paved with a sand dune cave in, a buried hotel, a dead body, gun shots, and all kinds of other dangers. Miranda thinks she's being stalked by an ex-boyfriend, the tension is strong between Miranda and Thaddeus, the dead body disappears, and nothing makes sense. Can they solve the mysteries in time for Grant and Abigail to walk down the aisle?
It was very interesting to learn some amazing information about sand dunes on the NC coast and Outer Banks. I had no idea that the dunes could shift so much to be able to bury whole buildings!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. The views are my own.
In this installment of the Saltwater Cowboys we meet Thaddeus, Grant's best friend from Texas. The FBI agent is struggling with his job and the maid-of-honor, Miranda, who doesn't seem to be who he met in Texas months before.
The thing I loved about this story is looking at the struggles that many women have in the area of self image. Many women struggle to fit in and our media and society portray an image of what a successful woman should look like and act like. Those who don't fit in that model feel ostracized.
The action and mystery around this story was so good! From the opening pages you experienced with Miranda the danger and intrigue!
Great story! I do hope we get more from Cape Corral.
Disclaimer: I did receive this book from the author, but was under no obligation to provide a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Miranda Stewart came to Cape Corral to help her best friend with her wedding. That means she has to face the best man, Thaddeus Blackwell, whom she thought might be the man of her dreams until he never called. Thrown together in an unexpected mystery, the two end up in desperate danger among the shifting sand dunes. They now must fight for their own lives as well as find the truth about what’s going on. Christy Barritt has crafted another fantastic, exciting mystery that keeps readers racing through the pages to see what will happen and if they’ll survive. The powerful novel can stand alone, but it’s more fun to read the series with its reoccurring characters in order. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
This book didn't interest me as much as the author's books usually do. I couldn't stay focused on it, and it felt like there were some gaps the readers have to leap over in order for things to make sense (a character is named and Thaddeus, the book's hero, recognizes it and knows his occupation immediately despite the character being referred only by occupation in a general way -- the way someone might say "the store manager stopped by the checkout lane"). The book is probably closer to 3.5 stars for me, rounded up, and most of that because of the incredible amount of goodwill built up from years of reading Christy Barritt's other books.
I had a BETA Copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Christy Barritt has another winner of a book with this one about Miranda Stewart, a New York journalist who is Maid of Honor for her best friend, and Thaddeus who is the best man and works for the FBI. Miranda and Thaddeus had been on one super fun date, but that’s it. She expected him to call, and he had seen her in New York with another man and thought she acted differently. They must now work together to discover who is trying to kill Miranda. The plot involves trust, learning limits, and forgiveness. A must read even if you haven’t read the rest of the series.
I liked the personality of the characters. Both felt inadequate, yet neither was even close. She was totally believable trying to be tough, but actually being understandably scared. He wasn't so macho that he couldn't see the danger they were in. I also liked that they were not angry at each other through the whole book and they ACTUALLY talked about the issues, instead of playing games. The mystery itself was fascinating and although I was correct about who was behind it, I did not know why.
I love Christy’s writing, in particular the Saltwater Cowboys books. I must say this one is my favorite! It jumps right into the suspense and action and it doesn’t stop until the very end. The plot is unusual making it even more intriguing. Thaddeus and Miranda are great characters and have a whole lot of baggage themselves making this a real page turner. I read it in one sitting, so make sure you have time when you start reading!
Oh, how I wish I could have read this in one sitting. Unwavering Security offers a very unique beach situation combined with unknown villains targeting law enforcement and innocent bystanders. Add the backdrop of a wedding weekend, a relationship gone bad and storms for another outstanding performance from Christy Barritt.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
I was disappointed in this book. Ms. Barritt is 1 of my favorite authors, but this book had some flaws, in my opinion. In 1 sentence, Miranda considered the potential dangers of a situation, and the next she'd be going right ahead and doing the dangerous and doing it alone! Another time her friends don't seem to take her seriously, guessing about pirates, etc. Overall, the story seemed unrealistic and forced. There was still great suspense. I'm sorry to see the end of this series.
Christy Barritt's parallel story lines of being who God created you to be and second chances resonated with me. I saw myself in Miranda; more importantly, I saw myself through the eyes of my Creator. While fiction usually allows me to escape, "Unwavering Security" allows for introspection through the lens of grace. Thank you for your beautiful and delicate approach to a difficult topic.
Going to be in a friends wedding should be a happy occasion as the maid of honor but the best man was someone she didn't want to face but would have to work with. There was no way she could have imagined what came next for them both. Bad guys, sand dune shifts, an ex boyfriend, an unknown watcher, and so much more. Never a dull moment with these two. This was a edge of your seat adventure with a lot of romance thrown in. This is a great series!
I absolutely Love Ms Barritt's books! Her characters are so well developed that you know she has made a whole background and personality for each one crafted with love. It's easy to fall in love with them yourself and the world she has created is just as well thought out, a place I'd love to visit. Pick up this book and prepare to spend the next several hours engrossed in a surprising mystery.
Wedding bells bring love to the best man and the maid of honor
I love the way this story kept me on edge trying to figure out who were the people who tried to cause harm to Miranda and Thaddeus. Also the sand dune that buried an old hotel, as the sand can really shift like this to cover buildings. The wedding between Grant and Abigail finally happened and Miranda and Thaddeus found each other to love.
My thoughts: UNWAVERING SECURITY is the most recent book in this ongoing series and true-to-form the author kept the reader guessing and the pages turning. Imagine a two-story hotel buried in a sand dune! And how scary when you accidentally find yourself trapped in it and no one knows where you are! I had to keep reading to find out. If you like romantic suspense you will love this book. Recommended.
Thaddeus & Miranda had a magical date and then were separated by circumstances beyond their control. Saltwater Cowboys has been a favorite series for me, and this latest adventure--involving spelunking a buried motel--is no exception. I hope this is not the last of the series, although I don't know who is left unmarried. Maybe Miss Minnie & Hillsdale??
Unwavering Security by Christy Barritt is such a great romantic suspense. This book has such a fascinating, unique mystery and the main characters were in such grave danger! What a fascinating story with great characters and depth. Highly recommend!! I received a digital copy of this book from the author with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
Ms. Barritt has definitely done it again. Great characters, wonderful setting, nerve-wracking suspense, and sweet romance, could you ask for more? I have enjoyed visiting Cape Corral and getting to know her residents. The isolated island sure has had its share of drama! Good thing there are down to earth hero’s on hand!
Oh, what trouble one can get in to falling from the top of a sand dune! Finding a decomposing body doesn't help. How did it get there and who killed him?
An FBI agent and a lifestyle reporter are thrown together to solve the crime. Add romantic tensions in the mix and Christy Barritt has another winner.
Another brilliant romantic suspense story beautifully drawn together by the author. The suspense, mystery, murder and intrigue makes for a book you just don't want to stop reading until you find out what the whole story reveals.
I enjoy romantic suspense and always those books by Christy Barritt. The book was filled with plenty of suspense twists and turns intermingled with romance. This book is highly recommended.
I did enjoy this book. More than just boy meets girl. Definitely kept my interest with mysteries and twists throughout. Curiosity killed the cat and almost Miranda in this story. I would recommend it if you are Christi Barritt fan.
How could she step out a door, walk the beach etc and find so much trouble is beyond me. Thaddeus did the same thing trying to help figure all this activity out on the island. Don’t put the book down. You might miss something.
I truly enjoyed this series. However, was a bit disappointed that this last book focused on two “non-islanders” to Cape Corral. It was a good read but definitely not a Saltwater Cowboy
I love the main characters in this book, Thaddeus and Miranda. I love how they begin to regain trust in each other throughout the book. The story is unpredictable and unique which is another reason I enjoyed this book. It is a very fast paced story with a lot of suspense. I highly recommend it.
There are some truly bizarre twists and turns in this book, in seriously kept me on the edge of my seat. Thanks Christy once again for a wonderfully entertaining story. I sure would love to see you add to this series. God bless you
Christy, I love the way you write. This book was no exception. You keep the suspicion going. I can't put the book down until I finish it. I love the happy endings.
A fitting end to the series full of action and mystery. The setting felt refreshing and new to me. The characters were people I could identify with who grew in their faith as they struggled through their problems.
I thought there were too many men dressed in all black appearing out of nowhere. I enjoyed the flirting between Thaddeus and Miranda, but sometimes it seemed a little too middle school instead of two adults.
Another great read from Christy Barritt! She does not disappoint! Action packed, romance and faith based and always God is the actor their lifes! I recommend this series!
