The dastardly Joker faces up against his arch nemesis in a new way! He now has to take care of him as a baby? After Batman fell into a chemical vat turning him into a baby, Joker must now raise him to be Batman.
Have you ever thought what would happen if Batman turned into a baby and the Joker had to raise him? Well worry no more, One Operation Joker is the book for you!
Truly, I can’t believe this is real lol. It’s quite silly but a load of fun.
What would the Joker do if Batman fell into a vat of chemicals that turned him into a baby? This manga answers that question, and the answer is hilarious. Joker decides to raise Batman so that they will be able to continue their rivalry once he grows up. There are a lot of hijinks as Joker pursues like as a single dad. This is great fun for Batman and Joker fans.
Super cute manga about baby batman and Joker, wholesome, funny and weirdly insightful into the struggles and joys of being a single parent raising a baby and all the happy milestones in between. The parent being Joker and baby Batman of course also brings a continuation to the conversation of their dynamic relationship and how one cannot exist without the other which parallels that of a parent and their child, they depend on one another and essentially give each other life. They are there for their milestones, growth, good and bad and battle through life together. Who knew the parent child relationship has so many things in common with the super villain and superhero relationship!
3.5 stars. Cute. Cute indeed. I loved the mix of dramatic Joker and domestic problems. Definitely made me chuckle and smile some times. LOVED the art style and how Joker looked without his face paint on. Fit him perfectly. Baby Batman is so cute.
Uwaga! To moja pierwsza w życiu manga! I mimo, że podchodziłem jak pies do jeża, to finalnie musiałem stwierdzić, że przy swojej dziwności... To było całkiem zabawne i miłe przeżycie!
OMG, this was HILARIOUS. What happens when Batman falls into a vat of chemicals and turns into a baby? And what if Joker decided to raise him? OH YES. I just had such a laugh at it all, seeing him figure out how to bathe him, how to make him fall asleep (not a success for most), what happens when the money runs out but no nurseries will take babies (maybe don't burn the money next time), and more! Of course, we also meet some goons and Harley is also around (and I loved her interactions with the baby and how Joker reacted to her). I also had a big laugh at the name Joker picked at the end. XD OH BOY. If only he knew. Or does he? The art was also great, I love seeing some iconic scenes, plus, it was fun seeing Joker without make-up at times.
I thought this would be chaotic when I read the back of the book but the story was 10x more chaotic. I loved every second of this. I'm curious to see where this goes.
More DC Manga? Sign me up! After stumbling on this title on the DC Infinite app and checking to see if the whole thing has been translated from Japanese (unlike frustratingly incomplete Batman and the Justice League) I was hyped to start.
The story follows Batman’s arch nemesis, The Joker, after a scheme gone wrong transforms The Dark Knight into a newborn baby. Instead of taking the ahem obvious course of action, The Joker decides to raise the child to be a hero like his former self so the pair can continue their endless rivalry. Hijinks ensue.
Ok for starters, I love how mad this premise is. I’ve read comics where Batman is a mech pilot, a Wild West outlaw and a straight up werewolf but nothing has struck me quite as strangely as him being transformed into The Joker’s adopted child. It’s creative, it’s weird and perhaps the very last new place DC can go with these characters but it’s fun nonetheless.
Now onto the story itself. The core of the narrative is that The Joker is a now a single dad. And we’re not talking Silver Age goofy-pants Joker. It’s modern, evil serial killer mobster Joker doing the parenting. Yet some fun comedy comes from him adjusting into his new role. Examples include The Joker getting angry at an office clerk for not accepting his daycare application and asking Harley Quinn to clean up the glass she smashed in her dramatic entrance to avoid hurting the baby. It’s good stuff and it’s nice to see at least this version of the Clown Prince of Crime soften and change over time.
It’s also fun to see the familiar world of Gotham adjusted to fit the slice of life feel of this story. No one arrests the Joker when he visits shops to find baby supplies in full evil clown makeup, they simply let him be unless he’s actively committing crimes (a trick perhaps borrowed from the quirky world of the Harley Quinn animated series?).
One gripe I do have with the series so far is the actual characterisation for The Joker. He’s written and drawn as an amalgam of Heath Ledger’s and Joaquin Phoenix’s live action portrayals of the character. And while there’s nothing wrong with either of those interpretations, mixing them leaves the character’s motivations kind of confused. Is he an agent of chaos or a sick man fighting the system?
This may, of course, be resolved in the fullness of time. As a manga title it appears to be much more comfortable taking its time with the narrative than an American or British comic might be. While this suits this particular story just fine, I am slightly dubious if The Joker really suits such a protracted arc- as I’ve found that he works best in concentrated short doses in the past. As I said before, time will tell.
I can recommend this to fans of Batman and slice of life aficionados but no one else. It’d likely be too strange or too dry for most out there.

First off, the cover artwork of this graphic novel is stunning. The black pages, the immaculate illustration, the traditional Japanese reverse read - it’s everything. I was drawn to this read not only for the aforementioned reasons but for the quirkiness of the story and it did not disappoint. It was a fun, comedic plot witnessing Joker and his side characters enduring the struggles of single parenthood. If I happen to find the remaining 2 volumes, I’d love to add them to the collection and continue the story since we were left on the fun cliffhanger of Joker and his newly anointed “Bruce Wayne”. I’ll leave it there for now!
I knew this manga was going to be goofy but this was too much.
Why waste a DC licensed manga on such a ridiculous story?!
Basically, Batman turned into a baby after an accident and now Joker has to take care of him. This could actually be fun but the execution is awful, beginning with the way Batman became a baby.
The only thing good here is the artwork, which is pretty solid. It was the only thing that made this manga bearable to read.
2,5/5. Part of the manga collection that DC is releasing right now. The manga part was better than the one they did with batman, but the main storyline of that one is just so ridicule for me to get into it...
This is silly and ridiculous and I am absolutely here for it! It’s nice to have an interesting change of pace (and format) for a Batman story every now and then and though this is one I never would have come up with, I’m glad to be entertained by it!
