.What could be more fun than a cooking competition at sea? When Adrianne Chrisander offered Veronica White a chance to be a partner in a new cruise line, she was overjoyed. They needed something to attract publicity and Veronica thought a cooking competition was a great way to introduce Fun Cruises to the world, but she hadn't counted on trouble rearing its ugly head.Mystery and intrigue abounded when two of the chefs turned to be a divorced couple who hated each other.Throw in a volatile, lady-loving French Judge and a stand-offish Cruise Director he fancies and you’ve got a recipe for romantic intrigue.Throw in sabotage and threats into that cooking competition and you’ve got a recipe for trouble.Veronica and boyfriend Captain Steven West soon learned the seas were going to be anything but calm. This new series is a spin-off from The Cozy Cruise Mysteries. You’ll see some familiar faces on the pages.
Another fun-loving mystery on the seas! First in a series, this book introduces us to some new characters. It's fun hearing their stories and getting to know them. It's going to be very similar to Lizzie's other series, with a couple who are owner and captain being lovers as well.
The story centers on the maiden voyage of a small ship (1500 passengers) with singles only being invited on the cruise. You might think the story would be about relationships and romance, but would only be part correct. The main story is about a cooking competition being held with the winner getting the prize of a one-week cruise for two. Nearly everybody on the cruise wants to compete, but only 10 lucky people are chosen.
The itinerary of the cruise is described in detail, but most of the narrative is reserved for the competition. One key character causes a lot of trouble for the contestants, but is discovered in the end. So all's well that ends well, especially for a couple who find each other and reconcile. This is a feel-good story and a quick read! Two benefits of choosing this book.
This book is a takeoff from the Cosy Cruise Mystery series, the cruise line Adrianne Chrisander inherited from her Greek Uncle. Like Adrianne, upon graduation from Harvard with an MBA, Veronica White, is informed that she has inherited a fortune from the Great Aunt Sophia, as the first female to accomplish that feat! She’s spent summers bartending on the Chrisander cruise ships and loved it. When her boyfriend, Steven West, a First Officer and newly qualified Captain on that same line, suggests she contact Adrianne about buying one of the older ships she has recently acquired. To her surprise a joint venture, with the start of cruises catering to the younger generation. Add a Cooking Contest, a nasty French judge and a series of pranks and you have the makings of a great new series! I received a free copy of this book from BookFunnel and am delighted to pass on a review!
I enjoyed reading part 2, Cooking Up Trouble, after reading part 1, undercover on the Calypso of Lizzie Josephson's book titled One of Each. I loved that they were on a cruise line as I love sailing and the ocean. This part 2 was after the protagonist received an inheritance from her great, great uncle in owning the business of a cruise ship company. Part 2 continues with another woman gaining an inheritance from her family, and she is talked into going into a partnership with the other cruiseline owner to run the older cruise ships. On this maiden voyage, a cooking competition takes place that just doesn't go as well as it should and complications arise. This is a very fun and enjoyable read for all readers who want to relax and enjoy a great fun book.
I can't get enough of cozy cruise mysteries and there's a new one on the horizon. I really liked the back story that starts this new series. I'm looking forward to getting to know these new characters. I also liked the cooking competition aspect. Looking forward to sailing on the new Fun cruise line. If you like cozy cruise ship mysteries, I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.
I think you could read this without reading the other cruise ship mysteries, but it is fun to see those characters again. I thought the characters in this one were ok, they didn't draw me in like the start of the other series, but they are still good characters. I wasn't so sure about the choice of Veronica and Victoria as two major character names though.
A cute little feel good story, possibly only enjoyable to me because it included many of the characters from the Cozy Cruise Ship Mystery series.
There is very little mystery involved, more of a romance story, but it did keep me on board a cruise ship. The next best thing to being on a cruise is reading about one.
The New Fun Fiesta Cruise Line was every bit as exciting as the Cosmo Cruise Line series has been. Singles with a little romance. A great "Food Fight" cooking contest and enough mystery to make it very interesting. I can't wait to read book two!
Lizzie does it again with another series. This # 1 book in the series ties into her Cozy Cruise Mystery Series. It also introduces new characters for you to love though in addition to the old ones. A cooking contest goes haywire. Love it.
A fun cruise??? I thought they would be playing games like trivia or something like that!!! I never expected a food fight!!! I enjoyed the story and recommend the book.
Another great book by Lizzie Josephson. If you've been on a cruise, it will bring back fond memories of the fun, food & side trips you took, along with a yearning to take another one.
Enjoyed reading this new series. Romance during a cooking competition and the judge being the trouble maker makes this story entertaining. Not too much mystery and yet keeps you reading till the end.
