**Part of an ongoing series with cliffhangers. PLEASE read Book 1 Prior. Strong Language, Sexual Situations, ViolenceMay contain triggers for certain individuals. PLEASE Mature Readers ONLY!Julien WiseAlmost one year ago, I murdered my wife. Her death unfolded as if it had been planned for centuries, and unfortunately, it had. I assumed I wielded enough magic to save her, but it had only been my arrogance that allowed me to believe so. It appeared the odds were stacked against me from the beginning, regardless of the power I held. The one I trusted the most had deceived me.I watched Theo burn, consumed by fireI watched her body blacken to ash along with my life.I have no will to live, a widower at twenty-five. Now my magic lies dormant, waiting until I take the reins of my new influx of power. And then I see her… a high priestess of fire, the demon who has stolen my deceased wife’s body and face, leaving a maelstrom of terror in her wake. She taunts me at every turn, wanting nothing more than to see me destroyed. Encountering Theo has awakened my soul. I know it’s not really her, but I wonder deep in my heart—its beat slowed by grief—if I can resurrect my wife with the untried abilities that now surge through my veins. The night she died, her powers merged with mine, and now my magic is beyond that of Merlin or even what the Visionaries believed possible. I am now omnipotent.Oriel wants nothing more than to destroy humanity. She thrives on mayhem, incinerating both humans and supernaturals alike. I had always thought losing the woman I loved was the worst thing that could happen, but when the high priestess decides to go after the others I care about, she decimates me.With the world once again in jeopardy, I will have to rely on my closest friends as well as those I am destined to strike down. Enemies will become allies in order to stop the impending doom we face.
Julien is going through grief, and is helped by his support system. Malick seems to be trying to take cover along this journey and he is an interesting character the more we get to see him and know him through the story. Theo has a darkness and one that is more dangerous than anyone expected. The fight for the world's survival is still at hand. The scenes are hotter as is the drama and love triangles going on. I don't know who to root for anymore, I am just hoping that majority are able to be alive. There was a big death that took its toll on Theo and Julien, and that HUGE cliffhanger ending has me worried but wanting book 3 so badly. I really loved how Lee, a secondary character, as a gay angel has possibly found his HEA if he and his lover can get through to the end. I am starting to enjoy paranormal romance again :) :)
