Victoria Bindley is a cousin of the Barbaneagra family, an ancient, affluent Romanian family who descended from a long line of European vampires. For years, they've managed to maintain their secrecy with the support of the government's secret agency in exchange for their sacrifices during WWI.
Victoria is an orphan whose parents perished in a car accident, left with nothing save an address provided by the orphanage that sponsored her upbringing. After years of being released from the orphanage, she decides to go to the address and discovers that it belongs to the Barbaneagra family, whom she dislikes for abandoning her when she was a child. She has no choice but to remain with them.
Josiah Charlemagne is a young vampire from a minor family in a lifetime feud with the Barbaneagras. He does not expect to fall for a relative of the Barbaneagra family when he first sees her, but do things ever go the way we expect them to?
Please this gritty, twisted standalone short story is intended for mature audiences .
The book I ordered, the description was about Anne & Chris. How Anne was trying to understand her Mother's death. This book was about Victoria & Josiah & was so rushed I am not entirely sure what was what. Even Victoria's name became Veronica at one point. This could have been a really good book if it had some depth to it. Instead it felt like the Author had written this during her lunch break of her day job.
