Callum and Lexie are perfect for each other - at least, that's what everyone tells them. But they're just good friends, aren't they? And neither wants to ruin the solid friendship that's treated them so well since university.

But when an old school friend of Callum's asks Lexie for a date, and passions overflow on a work night out, could it be the trigger to show each of them what they have been missing out on all this time?

Thank you to Rachels Random Resources for the ARC of this book.

This is your classic friends to lovers tale and it ticks all the right boxes.

Told from both Callum and Lexie's points of view, these are two people that are absolutely perfect for each other but they just don't know it .... yet.

Friends since their uni days, they have a way of being there for each other without being too serious about anything. But as their friends are getting married etc. could it be time that they seriously think about settling down?

In the run up to Christmas, Lexie meets Callum's closest friend. Sparks don't quite fly but they do have an initial like for each other.

Callum is left with a strange feeling, a pang of jealousy if you will, I mean Lexie isn't his type (according to him) or is she in fact the woman he didn't know he needed and wanted?
I cannot say a bad word about this story.

Short, sweet and highly comical.

The banter between Lexie and Callum felt entirely natural, not forced or stilted like some of these stories can be.

Ok, it's not an overly original tale but to me that didn't matter at all. There was a brilliant mix of love, lust and humour all tied up in a neat little book.

Merry is definitely how I felt when reading it.

Twelve Dates Till Christmas is a highly enjoyable contemporary romance, one that is going to leave you smiling.

I haven’t previously read anything by this author, but my interested was piqued by the cover and the blurb which suggested a light festive read. And I was not to be disappointed. Twelve Dates 'Till Christmas is set in the twelve weeks leading up to the Christmas holidays, and each chapter covers the events of each of those weekends for our two protagonists, Lexie and Callum, who have never been single at the same time, until now.

Lexie and Callum have always been friends, never a couple, but such is their bond, everybody believes them to be together, and their friends think they should definitely be together. They partner each other to various events which require the presence of a significant other, and at this time of year, there are lots of them.

I read Twelve Dates 'Till Christmas in two days, such was its appeal. I particularly liked the will-they-won’t-they aspect of the story, which kept me entertained and wanting more. It's a quick easy and read with likeable characters and an engaging plot line.

Twelve Dates 'Till Christmas - Jennifer Wilson

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Set in the twelve weeks running up to Christmas, we follow the lives of Lexie and Callum in the short festive novella. We quickly learn that Callum and Lexie have never been more than friends, but could either of them want more?

A highly enjoyable, quick, festive read, with many ups and downs. Jennifer Wilson usually writes historical fiction but I think that this was an excellent foray into the world of contemporary romance and I hope that she continues to write more in this genre!

I absolutely fell in love with the two main characters Abby and Callum (loved this character’s name) for so many reasons. These two were best friends but could they become more?

Jennifer gave us many ups and downs and twists and turns in this book. She definitely kept us on our toes.

I would just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources for very kindly forwarding me an arc copy of this book, for my Kindle, in return for my honest review.
This book was based on the classic friends to lovers trope and I absolutely adored it.
Lexie and Callum were actually perfect for each other, it was just a pity that they didn’t know it, yet!
Twelve Dates Till Christmas is set in the twelve weeks prior to Christmas and each chapter concentrates on a date that takes place each weekend…
The will they won’t they kept me intrigued all the way through and I also really enjoyed the story being told from both Lexie and Callum’s point of view.
I loved this book and it was a lovely Christmas romance filled with a mixture of humour, love and best of all, Christmassy things!!

🌼 Highlight of this book is the beautiful friendship Cal and Lexi share, it's simply great! Having someone to hold onto in the daily grind of life, reliable and honest is a true blessing ✨
🌼Again a book with story telling having two POV's which has become my favourite kind!
🌼 With realistic characters, plots progressing with speed and mention of holiday parties, having to have a date to be carried with, this book simply uplifts the mood and that fake dating to real love scenario progress makes this book worth reading 😊

What a lovely novella this is, giving weekly snapshots into Lexie and Callum's life.

They have been best friends forever, often accompany each other to various work events. None of their friends really believe nothing is going on between them. But yet there is something about the run up to Christmas that means they may be starting to see each other in a different light.

Told over the course of 12 chapters, one per week, only dates on Saturdays, we get to see each weekend from both Lexie and Callum's points of views, and just hope that they will come to their senses.

It's a really enjoyable light novella, that really does focus on a relationship between our two leads, and everything really revolves around that. Thankfully they are both likeable characters, and I did enjoy the writing too.

I will say though that although the book culminates in the run up to Christmas, it's not what I'd really call a Christmassy book, and could be easily read at any time of year, as to me its rather low on festive feeling. But if you are wanting a character, relationship driven, will they, won't they sort of a read, then this is certainly worth a go.

Thank you to the author for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I found this such an enjoyable festive read with some amusing and enjoyable characters. Callum and Lexie have a fantastic friendship and of course, they don't want to spoil that by becoming a couple. In fact, many of their friends think they already are and for work events they are happy to go along with that. There is an entertaining 'will they, won't they? theme which keeps you hooked through the twelve dates. You see the story through both their perspectives which I appreciated.
Being a novella, it is a light, easy read which you can fly through. Structured around the twelve separate dates, you follow their story all the way to Christmas. It is not an overtly Christmassy read and the action really centres around the two characters and their changing feelings. Nicely written, with plenty of characterisation, you are quite invested in their story as the last date arrives.

In short: a fun novella with engaging characters

Well this was just a festive frolic all dressed up in sparkle and joy. It was exactly what I expected, a gorgeous novella with a predictable end but a fabulous journey to the final point. These are my absolute go to books, whenever I am in a reading slump, or want something to distract me from real life this is the genre I go for. I love the predictability of the ending as it is not about whether they will get together but instead... how they will get together. I always love the antics, the missed opportunities, the silly moments where you just want to clash their heads together. This novella had all those and more!

Great cast of characters and humour all the way through. A lovely book to get you in the festive spirit.

In twelve dates till Christmas we follow Lexie and Callum as they navigate the party season together as friends ho play at being a couple when needed for functions and work parties but what happens when old feelings resurface? I enjoyed this book it was a fun quick read that made a nice change from my bigger reads. The characters where likeable and realistic and it made for an enjoyable experience. I devoured Twelve dates till Christmas in a day and can’t wait for more Christmas books in the next few weeks.

I thought that this was a great short story!

The book was only a short read but it did pack a punch and it did deliver.

I thought that it was well written and that it has a really good storyline too.

The characters were fun and well developed in their personalities.

It was a romantic and sexy read.

It is 4 stars from me for this one, highly recommended!

Great start, not so great ending

Callum was simply unlikeable. A womanising, immature & selfish MC. Lexi was was a doormat when it came to him, poor girl needed some self-esteem & self-pride but alas.

When is it the right decision to move from best friends to more?

Everyone that knows Callum and Lexie thinks that they would be a perfect couple. And those who don’t know them, think they actually are together.
But Callum and Lexie are “just” best friends, they are there for each other, no matter what. And neither wants to jeopardize their friendship, especially taking Callum’s reputation in account.
And then an old school of Callum’s appears on the scene and asks Lexie on a date…
At only twelve weeks before Christmas, will Callum and Lexie realize that their feelings for each other are worth of the risk?
Will this Christmas be the one where it all changes for the better? Or will the misunderstanding build an insurmountable rift between these two best friends?

Oh this novella is just the perfect start for the countdown to Christmas!
I found this a lovely, sweet yet sometimes annoying story about two friends slowly having to admit their growing feelings.
Now, before you start to think the annoying part is a negative thing to say…

It was annoying to read how afraid both Callum and Lexie are to vocalize their feelings. Because it’s so obvious from everything that they say and so, that they are just so in love with each other.
But somehow I also understood them, because the price to pay if things wouldn’t work out, would be surely too high!
However, the reward could be also SO SO SO big!!!

It was funny to see how realization dawns when another person starts to be in the picture. Jealousy can be something ugly, but also a real eye – opener.
Even if sometimes the behaviour was so frustrating for the readers, both Lexie and Callum are so easy to like and love, and their friendship alone is something to envy!

The fact that the story takes place each Saturday, to start with 12 weeks before Christmas, was something I never read before, and it was nice to see how our beloved characters passed that day, reading from each one’s point of view.
And it left me wondering what other things happened in those 7 days!

A sweet, promising story about admitting you true feelings and dare to take that one step further, with the Christmas magic not being the main character, but a lovely presence!
Even if this could be a “proper” book and not “just” a novella, this was the perfect treat for the reader and I enjoyed this little pause in real life, and made me long for love and Christmas!
