While test driving a speed boat fifty miles out in the Atlantic, veteran Staff Sergeant Miguel Ortiz rescues a sultry woman clinging to an ocean buoy. Her ruined evening gown screams money, but the look in her eyes is one he knows all too well—a haunted gaze mixed with fear and pain. Getting her on board is the first step toward safety. But when they’re attacked by jet ski riders carrying guns, Miguel realizes the danger isn’t over—it’s just beginning.
Cassidy Fletcher has finally found her sister’s murderer, but thanks to a few missteps from the past, no one believes the truth. There’s no way she can survive this on her own. The only chance she has is the man who rescued her at sea, who also happens to be the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on.
Then, something primal and raw ignites within Miguel—a passion for Cassidy he never knew he could feel for anyone. And while the world may not believe her, he knows one thing for certain.
Cassidy Fletcher’s life is in danger—and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.
Natasha grew up as a tomboy hanging with the guys, getting skinned knees, and swimming under the South Florida sun. Tattoos, Jack Daniels, and lounging at the pool are three of her favorite things. She is a wife, a mother, has two fur babies who love puppy piles, and the status of her sanity is pending.
The moment this book started, I was hooked. Miguel was an interesting character that was layered well. By no means was he perfect, but he was a natural protector and a sexy badass to boot. He’s totally my #BookBoyfriend.
Cassidy was fierce. Her determination and drive in the pursuit of justice, even at the possible expense of her life, made her one of my favorite heroines to date. Trust me, she got knocked down, but she got back up every time.
The main characters had great chemistry. Their connection felt organic and even though the circumstances under which they met were intense, I could see a future for them beyond that setting.
The plot got and kept my attention and the pace was perfect. There were never any filler moments. Each scene had a purpose. Secondary characters helped move the plot along but didn’t overshadow the main characters. Imagery and other writing elements were solid.

4.5 stars This is the second book I have read by the author and it can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the prior book first. Staff Sergeant Miguel Ortiz is out on the water testing his newly finished boat repair job for a client when he comes across a beautiful sirena/woman holding on to a buoy for her life. Not one to leave a damsel in distress, he comes to her aid. Cassidy Fletcher is a woman on a mission to find and bring to justice her sister’s killer. Unfortunately, she has had a few miscalculations which landed her in her current predicament. Without a moment to waste, Miguel hauls Cassidy on board to learn that there are others approaching and the gunfire begins. From the beginning, there is a spark between these two that cannot be denied and as the storyline continues, what may have begun as a gentle ripple grows to full on waves capable of destroying anything in its path. The book is filled with action, drama and suspense. It was a bit of a slow start but it was at full throttle the further it went. I look forward to reading Honey and Cap’s story which hopefully will come next. I volunteered to read an advance copy and purchased the book.
This book was captivating. I was desperate to find out what would happen with Cassidy, the sweet and troubled woman, who just wanted answers and revenge. Miguel, aww Miguel, your Spanish spiciness was so, so good that I was not ready to let you go...I still feel like I want to hear more about the beautiful soul, protector, loving son and lover. The chemistry between them was beautiful and desirable. You felt their emotions and the troubles they faced with each page you read.
Very well written plot and mystery, with just enough romance, family and loyalty involved. Even though you can still read as a standalone, it’s a perfect addition to Sins of the Flesh.
Natasha, you are on a good path with this series. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us!! Nanedsmomba- reviewer and blogger for Life Reads With Friends
Overboard kept me up into the early morning hours because once I started reading it, I just couldn’t stop. This story is full of action, suspense, mystery, desperation, and love. A chance meeting in the most unlikely place starts a whole chain of events that will keep you on the edge of your seats! Miguel may have started out trying to save Cassidy from the monsters who were after her, but I think they both saved each other from a lifetime of darkness. Miguel could protect and love me any day! Cassidy was strong and fierce but also adorable. They both brought brave to a whole new level. Natasha Raulerson, this story and this couple mesmerized me from beginning to end.
I adored this story! This series is full of action, intrigue and a good dose of spice. I’m a little confused about why Jason what’s-his-face is being featured but hopefully I’ll find out in future novels in this series?? I LOVED reading Miguel & Cassidy’s story. Highly recommend 💜
Miguel and Cassidy are a couple to be remembered. I completely loved this story. Miguel is such a badass. I could not put this story down. Read it in one sitting. I loved hearing about my favorite side characters. Sometimes I look forward to them more than the main characters. Haha. The writing provided picture clear images! I totally laughed and shed a few tears along the way. A must read! Impatiently waiting for the next book in the series.
