Drifting in her hot air balloon through the clouds of an endless sky, Olivia is rescued by a crew of circus performers on a flying ship. The cute and charismatic ringmaster, Lukah, hides a secret, and despite Olivia’s instincts telling her he can’t be trusted, she’s drawn to him and his enchanting smile.
But a night of celebration sparks more than an unexpected kiss between Olivia and fire-breather, Blaze. The secrets of The Flying Phoenix and its alluring ringmaster begin to unravel and Olivia must find a way to escape before it’s too late.
Unrequited love gets you nowhere and no one knows that better than Lucy. But when she meets Dylan at a party, she decides it’s time to push her feelings for Suzan’s brother, Mike aside. That’s easier said than done when Mike seems to be everywhere.
Torn between her first crush and the boy who is interested in her, Lucy wonders if she’s made the right decision.
Both girls want to follow their hearts but can what they feel be trusted?

Ms Higgins nails it! Ms Higgins truly knows the heart of teenage angst. And unrequited love. She’s nailed it here with Lucy’s feelings for Mike and having to witness Mike with the gorgeous Charity. However, the look back in time for Olivia as she spent during her stay with a flying circus was both a dream and a nightmare. Olivia was able to join a circus, not just any circus, but one aboard a flying, magical airship. Furthermore, this circus held secrets that were too powerful to talk about. Again, Ms Higgins nails it. I couldn’t figure out how she would wrap this up but that is what kept me glued to the pages. And wow! I never would have guessed it, but the way she wrapped it up was incredible! Can’t wait for the next book to see what other surprises Ms Higgins has in store for us.
This is the third installment of Lucy & Olivia's stories and they just keep getting better and better. Lucy is starting to mature and the relationships with those around her are continuing to develop and change. We see her deal with new teenage challenges such as peer pressure, love interests and gaining parental trust. Olivia shares the next chapter of her ongoing adventure in a new and wonderful fantasy world. It really takes the magic of going to the circus to a whole new level and makes you wish you could experience it first hand. I can't wait to see where her amazing magic balloon will take her next.
This series is full of wonders and breathtaking adventures, and the third book is no exception. Olivia is saved by a flying circus, accepted as a part of the crew and even having the full attention of the charming ringmaster Lukah. Yet not everything is as it seems and she must collect all her wits to escape the danger concealed with smiles and charm. Lucy, on the other side, has her hands full with teenage drama - her crush on Mike, the interest from Dylan, and all the trouble from Tracey and Catherine. Could either of the women really make the right choice? Could either of them trust their feelings? Amazing story that keeps me engaged with every page turned. The two interwoven plotlines make the book feel like a double deal, and I enjoy both stories - Olivia and Lucy's equally. While Olivia shares the fantastic adventures and shows the reader wonders of the imagination, Lucy's part gives the book the very real feeling and provides strength to all who struggle internally or face similar issues.
I've already read the first two books in this series and I really enjoyed them, so I had high expectations for this one, and I can proudly say that I was not disappointed. We continue to follow both Lucy and Olivia's stories, with Olivia's balloon taking her to a flying circus, and Lucy discovers feelings and emotions she hasn't felt before, part of growing up. It was a really well written story and I honestly cannot wait to read the next one!
Absolutely loved it. Kept me enthralled from start to finish. The storyline was true to form where teenagers are concerned, from Oliviers trials with the alluring Ringmaster combined with Lucys turmoil around her feelings for Mike and Dylan were wonderfully combined. The whole storyline has continued to keep me hooked, can’t wait for the next instalment. Congratulations, a well written story LJHiggins.
This is the third instalment of The Balloonist Chronicles, and it was just as impossible to put down as the first two. I really enjoyed following Olivia and Lucy's stories. There's more magic, more twists, and more adventures. It's a wonderful read and I highly recommend it.
I think all of us a one time in our lives dream of “ joining a circus “ . Well that is part of Olivia’s story as related to Lucy. I am loving this series. It reminds me of what it was like being a teenager and what was important to me then, with all the insecurities that came with it. Now I’m just “ young at heart”. I digress. Loved this story and the vivid descriptions of Olivia’s adventures and Lucy’s adventure of growing up as a teenager. The story kept me glued to each page. In fact this whole series is simply awesome and , in my humble opinion, anyone that is not captivated by this adventure must have something missing. So looking forward to the next book. Well done Linda, I was enthralled by your story. Wholeheartedly recommended.
