I see dead people...

Jonah Greer has a gift, one that sometimes feels more like a curse. After an amazing night with a virtual stranger gives him hope, Jonah is once more left lost and hurting when the man claims the night as a mistake made in a moment of weakness. One he's not willing to repeat.

Turns out, Beck Judson is Jonah's new co-worker and ignoring him is harder for Jonah than it appears to be for Beck. When Beck's recently deceased mother appears to Jonah asking for his help to make things right with her son, Jonah can't bring himself to say no.

Will reconnecting with Beck leave Jonah with a broken heart yet again?

— i received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. —

this was really good and enjoyable.

i was scared that since this book was less than 80 pages (not 200+ as stated here), that it would be rushing or too much or too little, BUT it was well balanced and great. the feels, the romance, the pain, the angst, the paranormal.

i really like how Jonah was accepting and understanding, and he never stop being kind after everything. yet he knows not to chase for things.

and Beck, poor Beck, it was beautiful to see how he opened up, he was harsh, but he stood up for himself, and that was really great.

i do wish it was longer so i can enjoy them longer!

Jonah and Beck's Story . . .

Jonah Greer’s gift of communicating with the dead can sometimes scare away others who don’t fully understand it. When he spends a wonderful night with a stranger, he thinks he may have found the one for him. But when the man calls it a mistake and leaves, Jonah is alone again.

As life sometimes does, it brings Beck Judson back into Jonah's life. Beck is a new co-worker who pretends now to be straight. Will he finally give in to this chance to reconnect with Jonah? Or will he continue to ignore the connection they had and walk away?

Both of the characters had a rough start in life by not being accepted for the wonderful people they are. Jonah wants to find love and acceptance. Beck has never felt loved and has a harder time getting over his past so he can move ahead with Jonah. Will they ever find their well-deserved HEA?

This was a quick read, but I really enjoyed it. I liked that it had a paranormal aspect that wasn't the existence of shifters, vampires, aliens, or magic (not that I don't love those things because I do!), but a medium who was born with the ability to see spirits. Jonah had the ability his whole life and it's a normal thing to him- even if he's suffered heartache and loneliness because of others who don't understand or believe in it. I found him so kind and patient and compassionate and was so drawn to him.

My heart broke for Beck and what he went through in his life with an abusive father who absolutely refused to accept that he was gay. Both Beck and Jonah suffered by not being accepted for being gay by a parent, but what Beck suffered was worse. Knowing that, I understood his fear and emotional turmoil. However, I absolutely hated his behavior later in the book especially after how lovingly he was treated when he needed it the most. You'll have to read to get the ending, but I was satisfied and I liked how any questions I might have had about different things in the book were all answered so I wasn't left forever wondering.

A good read and I recommend it. 4 stars.

Mixed feelings with this "Novella"
An okay start with a prelude to Jonah's life after they kicked him out begins.
A job for Jonah and he meets Beck.
Fast forward 3 years....and Beck's mother comes into the story.
I was immediately drawn into this at this point and it has a slightly different view on a ghost feeling. Poor Beck had a horrible 6 months after he was 17 yrs kidnapped to a conversion camp..yah one of those ones.😔 His mum wants to help her son now.
Okay A good short novella to read in essentially the characters only meet 3 times. A fast love at first sight even with working together and avoiding each other for 3 years. The story itself is only 90% and includes the last 10% of another teaser part two of this series.
Written with both povs for a fast HEA. Includes a possible triggers of an attack and conversation camp therapy horrors tellings in the story. A short novella with 8 chapters and 97 pages that showed up on my kindle plus teasers pages. Not a full book length at all

Jonah could see ghost at a young age which his parents didn't support. Out on his own to make a life in Atlanta which he achieves.

Forgiveness can bring amazing rewards! Jonah and Beck have a random romp, that they both remember with a high level of hotness. They each in their own way, can't forget the other. They don't exchange any personal contact information, which they both regret. Then they find out they are co-workers. Beck, is not out. He has a horrifying history that affects his present and who he thinks he is as a man. Jonah, has a gift passed down through generations, which he learned to appreciate after many years. They are each struggling in their lives, but they try to ignore each other at work. After a few years, Beck's recently deceased Mom appears to Jonah and asks for a huge favor. It will bring Jonah and Beck back to speaking to each other. Will Jonah accept the request? Will Jonah try for a meet with Beck? Will Beck believe Jonah? Will Beck come out? Good story. The pace was a bit slow for me, but definitely worth it. You really grow to love and respect these two men and hope they find a way to set down their baggage. Well done! This book had some disturbing areas but unfortunately it's our reality which makes it sad. I had so many feels for Beck and Jonah. They had similar stories but different out comes...one worse than the other but all together bad. Jonah has a special gift and when I read the blurb I found it interesting and had to give this a try. From start to finish I was invested in seeing the outcome. The story was sad and bittersweet but the guys romance was sweet and at times hot. There was a little angst but not enough to frustrate but enough to have you cheering for a happy ending for the guys. This being a novella, the writing and the pace was well done. It didn't feel like anything was rushed. Jonah and Beck relationship was special and was oh so satisfied with the ending. I thoroughly enjoyed this and I think others would too.

I loved both the MC's! Jonah is blessed (or cursed, depending on how you look at it) with the ability to see and communicate with ghosts. Beck has suffered a terrible childhood with a severely homophobic father, who sent him to conversion camp (shiver). Jonah and Beck have a smoking-hot one night stand, but then Beck walks away, leaving Jonah broken-hearted. It's even more uncomfortable when Beck turns out to be Jonah's new co-worker. Still, when the ghost of Beck's mother asks for Jonah's help, he can't refuse (sooo sweet). Will Beck listen to Jonah, will he hear his mother's words, and will Beck and Jonah reconnect and find something together...or will Beck continue to turn away? This is a pretty sweet, though emotional, story with just enough angst to keep the reader invested and rooting for a HEA.

Wow what an amazing emotional story I cried and I was angry I hated Jonah’s mother but his father more he didn’t say anything when his wife kicked Jonah out of the house when he was 17 his father was scared of losing his wife and being alone. Jonah meets Beck they have a one night stand and then Jonah doesn’t see Beck for quite awhile until Beck is introduced around at Jonah’s work but Beck pretends that he isn’t gay and brings a different girl to every occasion at work, Jonah gets a visit from Beck’s mother and that’s when things get complicated. There is so much more going on in this story but be warned you are going to need the tissues it’s a very emotional story I loved it and I highly recommend this book it’s well worth the read.

I don't like Beck, at all. I know he has shitty, fucked up past but that didn't justified the mean things he did to Jonah, twice.
First, he left without goodbye after their ONS and then ignoring Jonah for 3 years. Second, when Beck felt utterly alone and so devastated, he came to Jonah for comfort but when thing went wrong not to Beck's liking, he did the only thing he was good at, running away, again, from Jonah. Why I feel that Beck use Jonah only for his own convenience.

And after 3 long months without any phone calls or messages, Beck made sudden appearance at Jonah's door asking for a second chance? A third chance?? Whatever, I dislike him! Poor Jonah having a lover with tendency to flee if thing went wrong.

Ghost Whisperer is an emotional short story that tugged on my heart strings. Jonah had a gift of talking to dead people. It made dating difficult for him because when they would find out they didn't stick around. Jonah didn't really care until he met Beck. And then Beck's deceased mother showed up wanting Jonah's help. I really felt for these characters. I liked Beck's mother trying to make amends for her failings in life to her son. There are so many touching moments in this book. I enjoyed Jonah and Beck together. They had a special connection for their first meeting. I recommend this book and I look forward to more in the series.

This is an intriguing and romantic story. Jonah has seen displaced souls, and helping them, for as long as he can remember, but when the mother of his unforgettable one night stand shows up, it's almost too much. He had never gotten over Beck, and having to work at the same office was torture. When Jonah offers Beck an ear after his mother's death, Beck is drawn in to him again. Until Beck learns that Jonah can talk to ghosts. A new beginning is on the horizon for them both though, if they can trust in themselves enough. Jonah is strong, caring and sweet. Beck is fragile, stubborn and sad. I enjoyed the storyline and was sympathetic with the characters.

I thought that this was a great PNR romance. I thought that Jonah and Beck were great together. Jonah just wants someone to love him and accept him as he is, including his gift. Beck has had a difficult life but has never felt loved or accepted, at least not until Jonah came into his life. These two have some ups and downs in their relationship but these two finally find their way back to each other and get their much deserved HEA. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to see what Ms. Carrie has in store for us next! I would recommend this book and Ms. Carrie as a fantastic author.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Jonah and Beck have an one night stand and Beck leaves with only a note. Unknown to them they had similar pasts but Beck's experience was worst and still affected him. Jonah has a very special gift and it gives them a second chance. Unfortunately Beck has a hard time accepting Beck's gift and leaves. Jonah takes the chance and quits his job to follow his dream as an artist. Beck has left but returns to Jonah fully accepting everything after he has dealt with his past. I loved Jonah's gift and how Beck recovers from his trauma and choses love with Jonah.

It is awkward enough when the next day someone you had a one night stand with does not want a repeat and is emphatic about walking away. For Jonah, who actually sees dead people, he has the misfortune of being a medium who is misunderstood and having a hard time being connected to others because of his gift. Beck, his co-worker walks away, but Beck's dead mother wants help from Jonah to get through to him. Jonah is placed in a precarious position with a hurting man that he wants to help and love. Not an easy task for Jonah.

Ghost Whisperer is the story of Jonah, that can see and talk to dead people, and Beck who is traumatized by conversion camp and a terrible father. The story has a good premise and some good things going for it. However, it is just too short for all the things trying to be included and overall it falls somewhat flat. Very emotional and full of angst, but the steamy scenes could be better.

The afterlife, speaking with those who’ve gone on, relaying messages are all quite fascinating. Jonah has a gift. Beck has pain. Our ghost whisperer has the chance to set some crooked paths straight and while doing so finds the love of a lifetime. The story, itself, is shorter yet keeps you reading and gives a nice HEA.

When Jonah told his family that he was gay he was kicked out. Beck’s father beat him then sent him a conversion camp to be tortured to get the gayness out. They had a great one night but Beck said no more and avoided Jonah for 3 years until Beck’s dead mother needs help talking to him. So Beck left him again he didn’t want to hear about his mother. But fate stepped in bringing them back. Good book!

Overall I enjoyed reading Ghost Whisperer. I would definitely call it more of a romance story then a paranormal story but it still was enjoyable to read. It was a shame that the characters had to go thru so much when they were younger but I was glad that they both found their hea.

Carrie always manages to write nice characters where regardless of any horrors in their lives, together the MCs just make you smile, feeling the good feels. Carrie also doesn't shy away from upsetting topics and this was no exception. An emotive short that's definitely worth a read.

This was a bit too insta love, whiney, no back bone Mc. I understood the torture the Mc went through but you can t be afraid of your father for 30 more years and than, all of a sudden you man up. Considering the whole plot was about one of the Mc s hard life and crazy father the resolution and the said Mc s strength came out of nowhere.

Jonah has a gift or curse depending on how you look at at. He spends one night with Beck but then Beck is done with him. Beck is Jonah's new co worker. Jonah was sweet but Beck was kind of mean, he's never felt love plus he pretends to be straight. Overall it was really good, definitely recommend.

Jonah & Beck

Fast-paced, short read. Jonah speaks to displaced spirits who come to spark to him, hopeful for resolution. Beck has suffered greatly in his life, at the hands of the people who are supposed to love him unconditionally. Together they find love but Jonah’s secret can break their connection. I definitely would have loved more of these two.

Not worth the read

This book had such great potential but it fell so short! Sex does not equal love! Sleeping together is not a relationship.

This is the story of Jonah Greer and Beck Judson. Jonah has not had an easy road while being a young gay man. He also has the added responsibility of being a medium that sees spirits. When they come to him (usually in the middle of the night) he tries to help them along. But as he is the only one who can see them, his partners and dates believe him to be crazy as it appears he is having a conversation with himself. He wishes that one day he will meet someone who can accept him as he is. Beck is a lawyer and a shell of the boy he used to be. When his abusive father found him with another boy, his father shipped him off to a conversion camp. He didn't want any gay stigma attached to his family. The fact that his son was abused and tortchured is secondary to his warped family image. Beck still feels trapped as he is working for his father's friend and he is sure that he is reporting on him back to his father. But for one day, Beck broke free and was happy. That was they day that Jonah and Beck met at a bar. The next morning Beck was gone. When they meet again at work, Beck acts like they have never met and Jonah goes along with it even though he really liked Beck. When Beck's mom passes away, she seeks out Jonah to help her son. This is their story. It is not an easy path for both of them to follow but eventually their hearts lead them where they are meant to be.
