From horror author Frederick Pangbourne, who brought you the 'Refection in the Abyss' books and 'Nightmares of the Damned', comes his latest anthology of bone chilling terror. 'Hellish Consequences' takes you into a realm where 13 nightmares become blood-soaked realities in the blink of an eye. Enter a cursed forest where a peculiar tree's haunting past knows no bounds in 'Black Tree Summer'. Beckon the haunting call and descend the basement stairs to a macabre fate in 'The Cellar'. Suffer through the fine print of a corporate's grisly punishment for abusing sick time in 'Piece by Piece'. Once one dares to enter this forbidden world of ungodly suffering, either unknowingly or willingly, there will be nothing less than an unspeakable outcome. There will be no turning back from the Hellish Consequences.
First, let's discuss that cover. I kinda love the freaky eyeball of horror thingy. And this title is one that was sure to suck me in. This is an author I have never heard of. So it's kinda cool to start with an anthology to get a variety of their work. Theses stories covered everything from haunted trees, zombies, sinkholes, monsters, tentacles monsters in pools and so much more. My fave story was about a guy who had taken too many days off work, so 'The Company' visited him and played a dice game that resulted in the dude losing body parts. Yeah, I like the gore stuff. There were a couple stories that I felt like the endings were abrupt and could've been longer, but I think that's pretty typical when it comes to shorts.
