So this was different. I read the first one and loved it, but while I am not the biggest fan of Ares,(idk why I'm just not) this book I enjoyed.

The ending made me so mad. The collection has its own plot but there is also an overarching series plot. The started the climax of both plots at like 96% completion! It was so so so rushed and felt extremely unsatisfying. The main characters made a selfish decision not considering the overall plot of the series which is annoying and just made me think they are stupid. The characters also made a complete 180 in their personalities, and become really mushy when that was literally the opposite of their personalities the whole book. Lots of weird plot holes in this series overall and I'm not sure if I'm going to even read the next collection.

Exciting

I think the craziest part of this story is how Haephestus cares for Aphrodite even though she doesn't seem to love anyone, even him.

Ares and Bella's story was so exciting and got my blood pumping. Their energy was fun to see. The gods are full of wonder and betrayal. I shouldn't be surprised at how low they can go but I always am.

Unfortunately, my first book of the year only got 2⭐️. The story lines between the first book of the series, The Hades Trials, and this one were just far too similar. The protagonist both are originally from Olympus but get sent to the mortal world and have no memories from their past, everyone refuses to tell them anything about their past, the main love interest is seen as savage and evil but you discover along the way he’s actually a sweet guy. It just seemed like I was reading the same story. It very much read like fan fiction of the first book. Also, this book seemed like it couldn’t decide if it was a sequel or a stand alone. While there was a ton of character overlap much time wasn’t dedicated to dealing with the repercussions of the first book. We were just told (instead of shown) a bunch of things had happened and just had to accept it. Some parts of the book dragged on and on (aka literally every actions sequence) while others were over far to quickly. This story does have a couple of spicy scenes but one of the happens in the middle of a task which just seemed very odd and took away from the story. Overall, I wasn’t a fan of this and I’m very unsure if I will pickup the next book in the series.

The first half of the trilogy reads like a cross between Indiana Jones and Star Wars.
It's an exciting adventure. Exploring a new realm, with a different feel to most Romance/Fantasy.
This author is truly gifted in her ability to Wittenberg different characters to the previous trilogy : The Hades Trials.
Some reviews express disappointment with the ending, I don't.
NO SPOILERS!

I can well understand the choice the protagonists make as their bond is an integral part of their relationship.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience
The spice was good and tempered.
The plot was fantastic
The characters were interesting and had depth.

I rarely give reviews let alone anything above 4 stars, but this one deserves a 4.5 rating 😘

holy COW!

I’m not the best at leaving reviews, but this book has blown my mind! It’s also given me a different perspective of the god of war and if Aphrodite. I never really considered their powers to be so destructive/powerful. But Eliza has literally thrown me into a world that has blown my mind. I feel like I’m on an adventure and the world keeps expanding! Their love story is beautiful, but I think my favorite parts were all the action and combat involved! 100000/10 recommend!

The Ares Trial by Eliza Raine is the complete trilogy including The Ares Trials, including The Warrior God, The Savage God and The Golden God. I was excited to read this trilogy after finishing the Hades one. This exceeded my expectations. The banter, tension, and chemistry was everything. I also am loving the trials aspect in this trilogy. The creatures and magic that come up are so interesting. I really loved this plot and the characters. I was also happy to see more of Hades and Persephone.

Bella was strong, witty, and badass. I really loved her personality and seeing her learn to survive in Olympus. Her and Ares had such hatred between them in the beginning but I loved seeing them realize how much they needed one another. Ares had such amazing character development through the trilogy. Bella and Ares complimented each other not only power wise but personality. They were so cute together! Ares had me giggling and blushing! I am truly loving these trilogies and can’t wait to read the Poseidon Trials.

This book was a lot of fun! It carries over some of the characters from the first book, but introduces plenty more that help the adventures continue. I liked that the trials in this book were a little more unexpected. Each one was pretty involved and the action in this book is really good!

The side characters were good, but the bulk of the story focused on Ares and Bella- not a bad thing, but it did feel like some other characters could have added to the story. The banter in this book was different than the first. Overall the characters felt more immature than Persephone and Hades. Again, not a bad thing- just not as much my speed. It felt like frustrating teens arguing at times haha.

Mysteries about motives and past events also kept each chapter captivating.

Overall, I loved this story and Eliza does a great job keeping a consistent pace and balance of action and romance. Looking forward to reading more from her!

needed more polish but good

This was a lot better with the edits compared to the first book, though there were still a lot of mistakes. Sentences where there was an additional word that left it making no sense, or where the wrong word was used, or where there was a word missing. It definitely needed a little more polish.
However, aside from the mistakes, the story was really good. I think it had an interesting take on a main character that by history’s standards, was not a good goddess. To make the audience like this character was really well done. It was interesting to see how the author put a sexy/exciting spin on what most would consider bad traits. I also enjoyed the arrogance and pride that she made Ares chief traits to be. And how she developed his weaknesses and gave him depth. The armor was an interesting way to show how he evolves and it was just really fun to read over all.
I think that all in all, this was a story well worth the read.

I enjoyed this one. Finally a woman that kicks butt and takes no shit from the male. This time around the man relays on the female for all the strength. It's about time that the roles were reversed. Now the man knows what it feels like to be helpless.

The story line was fantastic, and let me say I wanted Bella to kick some Aphrodite's butt. Bella started out just trying to get her anger issues under control. The was until she found councilor and only friend is dead. Then on top of that some guy pops up ready to kill her. She ends up in a totally different place with a guy who thinks she owes him something (her power).

This book is worth the read. So much action and adventure, suspense and anger. But, from all the hate and frustration, there comes a bond that pulls Ares and Bella together, so they both can survive.

This was not what I was expecting. We start in the first book and it’s great. It leads you up to where Ares and Bella have to go to his realm and find and capture a demon. Then we go back into the trials and it’s the same thing all over again with Hades trials. I got halfway and was board.
Nothing was happening. Bella sounded more like a teenager than a 29 year old woman. The fighting rings and anger and no control over emotions is more contrary to a angsty teen. Not a grown ass woman. The language was vulgar and pointless. It just made the writing and portrayal of the characters poorly done.
It’s a very angry story line.

Repetitive Series

This series seemed to be a repeat of the series The Hades Trails. MFC has no memories from her previous life (lives). She’s really a goddess, but didn’t know it. I was disappointed in Ares being shown as weak. I appreciated his growth throughout the series, but he still seemed weak in my opinion. Ares and Bella give up immortality so they can share power? The purpose of the trails was so that Ares could get his powers back without having to share it with Bella as they discovered. And Bella’s excessive profanity seemed to serve no real purpose and I’m not sure why it continued. For me this series was meh.

I wasn’t sure about this book through the first part but when Aphrodite came in as the jealous lover made me love it. The relationship between Aphrodite and Ares is always a personal fav of mine so to watch this play out when she realized Bella was more important to him was EVERYTHING. Overall I enjoyed this story and watching them find each other and igniting the bond between the two of them. Seeing that in the Epilogue, Poseidon wanting to find his wife after what Aphrodite said to him made me excited for the Poseidon Trials.

Can the God of War be humanized?

Thks box set is of the 3 Ares trials and let me. Just say I am so glad I read this one as a set. The story and characters were amazing and you find yourself. Rooting for them to over come all the bad and be together. The 🌶 is definitely a solid 4.5. It's isnt over the top but definitely the parts it shows up it is 🔥. I can't wait to start Hades and Posidens books.

A Fine Fight!

This second book about the dark gods of Olympus is a worthy successor to 'The Hades Trials.' As the God and Goddess of War, Bella and Ares are forced to prove their worth through a series of war trials. The two learn to work together and love eachother as their tasks unfold.
Like most sequels, this book doesn't quite match its predecessor in quality. Nonetheless, it is a good effort. It inspires me to get the next book in the series.

Amazing book.

I absolutely love this book. You definitely have to read the Hades Trials first, but you will not be confused reading this one if you have not.
It reads a bit like a fan fiction story, as it seems to start rather abruptly, but that is almost immediately forgotten as you are sucked into a story of epic action, adventure, and love that refuses to be defeated.

I recommend reading the Hades trials first, you won’t be confused if you don’t but it’s helpful. I didn’t think I’d enjoy this one as much as the hades trials but I enjoyed it even more! Still some grammar & spelling errors but not as bad & I loved everything about this series. Action, adventure, comedy, romance. I didn’t want to put it down!

Yes!!

I loved this series. As I did with the Hades trials. This is quickly becoming one of my go to authors! I adore reading anything to do with Greek mythology, especially the gods. And Eliza Raine does a fantastic job of keeping the pages turning! Can't wait to move to the next series!!

Fantastic read

I started with the Hades trials, and loved the plot and writing style. Its not often you find a sequel that's as good but this was amazing. I do feel the ending was a bit rushed. No mortal could have processed having died 100 times as fast as Bella did, but a great read nonetheless.

This was fire!!!

This was so much fun to read and the two main characters where fire 🔥! I did get a little worried for or FMC at the end. I really do not like Zeus at all and I get why the sharing power thing stayed but I feel like they still could of each had their own power and still had the bond too.

Epic!

This was a gripping, passionate and exciting world and story! Was definitely a slow burn in the first book but as the story with Ares and Bella progressed it was fiery!
Really enjoy this world and the characters. Curious about what the next book will bring and what Zeus is up to.

So the book took me entirely toooo long to read and I definitely skimmed through some of the unnecessary chapters.

The book was wayyyy off than what I was hoping for. I don't want to leave any spoilers but bro the ENDING?!!! MA'AM be so for real IYKYK.

I won't be continuing with this series.

I couldn't put this one down. Although a very similar story line to The Hades Trial, Bella was a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed thr movement of the storylines so far and am excited to read the next one.

Gods, I loved this book! Eliza Raine has her unique style of mythology retelling and twisting the legend into amazing story! I think I just discovered a new favourite writer!!

Omg I was hooked from the start! I didn’t know what to expect with Ares, but Bella was and is the best fit for him. All and all, Zeeva is my favorite character and I would love more back story on her!!

I really liked this book until the end. I couldn't believe they decided to be mortals and share powers. Seriously I loved everything in the book until that part. It kind of ruined the book for me
