It was supposed to be an in-and-out job. Get off the ship, salvage any usable tech, and get the hell out. There weren't supposed to be any survivors, not on a decades-old wreck on an unstable planet. There certainly wasn't supposed to be an unpredictable storm trapping me on an Impericorps cruiser with an Impericorps warrior class Cyborg. If we ever want to get off this carking planet, we'll have to learn to work together, repairing an old Impericorps ship with just each other for company. There’s no time to fall in love… right?

✨ “You’ll be my only, Lex. You’re the only one who’s ever seen me for who I am.” ~~~ Oh, I loved this so much!
The story is short but intense and filled with danger. I loved both Adon and Lex - they had such great chemistry and were so sweet together. And I loved how they cared for one another and how they relied on each other to overcome all the danger and find a way to escape.
In addition, the story establishes quite an exciting new universe and I can’t wait to dive more into it and learn more about the Cymechs.
Lex responds to an old distress call from a deserted planet, Dricker III. She is a scavenger, so decides to investigate the crashed ship. Instead, she runs into an Impericorps warrior class cyborg survivor. Adon had been abandoned a decade ago when his ship crashed. Now they have to survive the horrible storm conditions on the planet while trying to work together to repair his old Impericorps ship. With only each other for company, feelings develop. Will those feelings go away if they can get off this planet? Or are they actually falling in love?
This is the start of an exciting story as Lex is determined to find her sister captured by Impericorps over a decade ago. She won’t give up her quest. Will Adon join her? Can she build up a crew willing to help?
Upon rereading, I’m tempted to give this book 5 stars but it’s just so short. I read it in about an hour and a half and because it’s so short, we got very little world building which is very important for me in SciFi romance as many times the worlds are being built almost literally from the ground up. So tempting as it is, I’m not changing the grade. But this is a very good starter book and I highly recommend it.

This was a freebie. I’ve loved SciFi romance for years and at the moment cyborgs in particular. It has a pretty fine cover so it was an ‘of course I’m going to get it book’. These can be a risk at times but this is a risk that pays off.
It’s set in another world where the world building was a bit light but since it’s a short book, I didn’t let that bother me. Lex is the heroine and she works as a contractor searching for spaceship debris, something like that. She hears a distress call coming from a very inhospitable planet and radios the guy she works for she’s going to investigate and he tells her they won’t wait for her. Still she heads to the planet where she runs into a cymech. Now this is a bit fuzzie but I just went with it. I think cymechs are half human, half cyborg. It’s not too clear but this either a prequel or first book in a series and since I certainly enjoyed this one enough to keep going, it’s sure it will become clearer in future books. While he can’t speak, at least at the beginning, he does understand her so they are able to communicate. They are trapped underground for the time being as there is a terrible and destructive storm raging overhead so they work together cobbling together parts from her damaged ship and rather much larger ship he crash landed in ten years previously. The evil empire that ‘created’ him didn’t even bother to give him a name, just a bunch of numbers so Lex gives him the name Adon.
Now again I’m speculating that those in charge of this universe created the cymechs to be soldiers but Adon is actually a very kind and protective hero. Lex is attracted to Adon right from the start and he to her and it’s rather a sweet romance. It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but does end with more story to come and I’m looking forward to what happens in the next book about Lex’s sister.
I recommend tracking this one down and picking it up. I’m bot sure if it’s on Amazon or not; the other ones are but I got this one on book funnel.
Lex, the female lead, is a scavenger, attempting to build funds so she can trace her sister who was stolen by the universal dictatorship years ago. When she lands on a desert planet, looking for resources, she finds Adon, a cyborg abandoned a decade ago when his ship crashed. As they attempt to survive the horrific weather on the planet and construct a manageable spaceship on which to leave the planet, their relationship develops.
This story is first person, female lead POV, well written, and looks to be the author’s first released story. It is interesting and I’ll be curious to see her writing develop.
I do find that you need to have read the first book in the series to understand who the big enemy is and what they have done that has so dramatically impacted the lives of the characters. I think a prequel’s job is to entice you into the series to learn the answers, therefore it’s done it’s job and entertained us with a sweet but hot romance. Can’t wait to see Lex and Adon again!
Lex answers a distress call from a hostile planet and finds a cyborg survivor. Lex was a pilot of a small ship off a large salvaging ship and hearing s distress call that is ten years old hear to a hostile planet to sees if there is something worth salvaging there. Landing she suites up and searches for the source of the signal until a large figure covered in mud appears and approaches her. She takes a step back and trips backwards bangs her heads and passes out. When she come to she is on a strange ship with a large figure standing next to her.

“No way there are survivors from a decades-old signal in this sunburnt, barren place.”
Lex is just trying to salvage enough tech she can save up the money she needs to find and rescue her missing sister. Simple enough.
Discovering an illegal cyborg on a ship that’s been crashed for over a decade is no where in that plan.
This done in one story establishes an interesting Universe with characters that communicate through actions, and discover there are times when words, and intent matter.

As someone new to this series, even if this is a prequel - it felt like the prequel you read after reading the main story. That's because there's a lot of references/world building that isn't in here - that I'm guessing is in the main series itself.
Now for the couple I thought they were cute, it was also pretty low in steam in my opinion. However for a quick HEA read I thought it wasn't too bad .

Lex gets stuck on the planet that she received a distress signal from. The wreckage from the distress signal has a cyborg on it that helps her. Fun, fear, hard work and love emerge as Lex and Adon work to free themselves and their secret cargo. Fast and fun read.

Like the story, and look forward to reading the remaining books in the series. This book can be read as a stand alone story, the characters introduced in this book each have their own stories. This HEA ending is OK, but could have been better with more certainty of their escape from the magnetic field of the moon and their safety.
This was a fun little prologue/intro into a series. I like these two and the world that was being set up. But I definitely want more background as there is clearly a lot of bad history with the Impericorps.

It wasn't to long. Hard to tell since the author hints at time. But it is very beneficial. Very good story. NOW the trek begins. We will see what happens in the future. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I enjoyed reading this prequel to a new series, the storyline is entertaining and the interaction and chemistry between the characters is great. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book 📚, as a FREE copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
A quick read sci-fi romance. I actually read the first book in the series before this one don’t think it makes much difference what order you read them in. Was great to read the backstory to Lex and Adon which we meant in the end of the first book. A bit more about this alien world.
Argh--I hate a tease! This is worse than a cliffhanger, it's just a portion of a story. Not horribly written, just incomplete, and I can tell the next installment will be incomplete, too, because we've got three cyborgs and three women to match them with. *sigh*
This story is a hodgepodge of emotions for Lex. First fear when she meets Adon, then friendship as she realizes his situation and her personal interest in him. When she realizes the reality of what he’s done hits, it morphs to intense anger, but will it last?
Nice short read with a good plot and interesting characters given the length. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love the characters, love the realistic world building and really love the romance. If big sexy aliens are your thing, you HAVE to read this book. I can’t wait to read the next book. B+
