HETTA COFFEY IS A SASSY TEXAN WITH A SNAZZY YACHT, AND SHE'S NOT AFRAID TO USE IT!

Living aboard her 45' yacht in Mexico's hauntingly beautiful Sea of Cortez with her dog, Po Thang, and her parrot, Trouble, Hetta takes on quirky, if sometimes shady, projects to keep them afloat and in frijoles, rum, and plenty of adventure.

She and a cadre of friends, and a few shady characters, have a penchant for a little vigilante justice, which keeps her in hot water on both sides of the border. In order to protect abused animals from a despicable sport, she runs afoul of a vicious gang with cartel connections, and the you-know-what hits the propeller.

Hetta Coffey is living proof that no good deed goes unpunished, so jump aboard for a cruising adventure like no other.

I love these books, but this one was hard to read because of the subject matter (rescuing/saving dogs involved in dog fighting in Mexico).

Just So Wrong was just so right!

The wait was worth it. Hetta and Jan were spectacular in their quest to stop illegal dog fighting in both Mexico and the U.S. Their friendship and partners in crime work so well together it makes one feel like ypu are right there with them but safe from anything that could go wrong. I can't wait to see what comes next as there was a loss unfortunately. I promised no spoilers so I will stop right there but as it was added to Hetta's "list" I am sure it will be fabulous !

I'd say that Jinx Schwartz improves with every book, but like Mary Poppins, she started out practically perfect, so it's hard to determine the best of her books. Every time one comes out, I'm thrilled and can't wait to read it. And then I consider it her best.

I wish there was a real Hetta and Jan and Jenks and Chino to take on the dog fighting "industry." And I applaud everyone who does this in real life. I'm happy the book is bringing attention to this issue, most people thought it ended with Michael Vick, the football player, who was caught in the midst of this cruel and vicious practice and pretty much was hated by the public. Unfortunately, there are some who are "entertained" by destroying dogs.

But the seriousness of the issue doesn't stop Just So Wrong from being so much fun to read, humor is always a part of a Jinx Schwartz book, including this one.

The characters are, as always, wonderful, true, and a little bit crazy.

I think of Hetta whenever I walk my dog nearby in Queens, New York, where a colony of parrots has taken up residence in our local trees. Winter and summer, they're there chattering away. They may not speak English like Hetta's bird, but they all know what the other is saying, and they seem to be having a great and colorful time, building huge nest structures on the power line stations.
The electric company is not amused.

Jinx's books have many messages, but the best one is to enjoy life and do whatever good you can.
And that dogs are the very best people.

Just what I like to do - settle down for a nice read with favorite characters Hetta, and her friend Jan. They frequently find themselves in a disturbance of sorts and are often back and forth between the ocean and the deep blue sea. Hetta spends her time between Texas, Arizona, and on the water in Baja. Hetta is the live aboard owner of the Raymond Johnson (her very own yacht). She can frequently be found cruising in and around the Sea of Cortez along with her beloved Po Thang pup, and her feathered friend Trouble (a Quaker parrot). Her world wandering beau, Jenks makes frequent trips from his job in Dubai to see her, while Jan's guy Chino is busy exploring his whale camp in the Baja peninsula.

This adventure finds them involved in saving pit bulls from the fighting rings, the cartels, the bad folk. Did you know that pitties are often starved for attention and want nothing more than to be loved? They fight for their rewards. Of course, under certain circumstances they are known to be very aggressive and fierce.

It has been my pleasure to read all of the Hetta Coffey books by Jinx Schwartz, and without question I highly recommend this series. You will be saddened, charmed, and finally relieved when you turn that last page.

Hetta and pals are up to the eyelashes with action, action and action! Just before she departs Mexico and heads to cooler climates, Hetta is accosted by a gangbanger and his rabid dog attempting to attack a terrified local pet, defenseless little Cha Cha, while its owner is away.

Hetta and an older Mexican Abuela jump in to defend the frightened animal, but trouble begins almost immediately, since the sinister young man is part of one of the vicious dog fighting rings and one of the brutal cartels, and Jenks, Hetta’s sweetie, has her hustled out of town pronto.

No one realizes the lethal chain of events that begins with a simple act of kindness, just defending Cha Cha in public, that ultimately leads to taking down the dog fighting rings - and the teams it takes to do so, and those at risk to make it happen. How glorious it would be for that to happen it real life!

A fabulous story, warm wonderful hilarious characters with hearts the size of Texas and heroics and borrowed guns when needed, to match - and an absolutely worthwhile read

Witty, Hysterical, and Education All in one Book

I've read every single book Jinx has written and love them all, and I think this one gave me more outright laughs than any others in the Hetta Coffey series, although they all pack good punches. As in most of this series, Jinx champions a worthy cause. In this case, it's the illegal despicable treatment of dogs bred for fighting and the other dogs who are used for bait during training. Hetta and her best friend, Jen, take on the Mexican cartels in this fast-paced adventure, and she succeeds in more than one way. As a side note to Jinx, while some typos exist, this one had very few and was not distracting. Kudos to your beta readers!

If you have never read one of the Hetta Coffey series books you really don't know what you are missing!! I have read every single one and they never fail to keep me totally entertained. Hetta and her friends will make you laugh. The way they get into and then out of trouble is unbelievable.

Even when Hetta tries to do something admirable, like in this one--something is bound to happen that she needs her boyfriend to help her out or her friends who are not always on the up and up! Of course Po Thang (her dog) usually gets into the act as well as Trouble (her parrot who knows language even a sailor doesn't know! The parrot is not in this one but Po Thang and a lot of dogs are!!

Colorado adventure

Loved this book because I am very familiar with the South Fork area. I know for a fact that there is a Mexican restaurant in Del Norte that has great food and huge Margaritas.
Loved her trip over the Million Dollar Highway. Driven it many times. I did find it funny that you didn't even mention Wolf Creek pass. Have to go over it to get from Durango to South Fork. It has some pretty spectacular twists and turns but it is wider and better road. Your mileage was off by about 50 miles for the distance from Durango to South Fork.
I could see the area in my mind as you were writing about it. Loved every minute.

I really, really liked JUST SO WRONG. Hetta and Jan take on go some evil bad guys, lowlifes who should be drawn and quartered. These *&^ %*#%* are run multiple Pitt Bull fighting rings here and in Mexico. The gals tackle the job (okay, along with their sidekicks) of liberating the dogs. Getting them medical attention and getting them ready to be welcomed back into society. Please, if you ever see anyone mistreating any animal and you don't make their arms and legs useless, REPORT THEM.

A fable about a Texan, a woman, an engineer, with canine overtones

A continuing fictional story - many previous novels by this writer - about a quirky but fiercely independent woman who happens to have a great dog, jumps into perilous situations (such as foiling a Mexican dog-fighting "industry"), is a professional engineer, and has a chosen life on a big sailboat moored in a Mexican marina. The story is accurate about Texan parks, towns, places, and Mexican/Texan weather.

Hetta can't even take an RV trip without stumbling on another mystery to solve. This time she and her friends take on the dog fighting problem. Her BF Jenks is in this adventure along with BFF Jan, Nacho, and many other friends. They help destroy - or at least slow down - the dog fighting problem, but create problems for themselves along the way. Enjoyed the story along with the antics of Po Thang.

Blown Away!

Truly my favorite Hetta Coffey book so far! Hetta & Jan always manage to get themselves into so much trouble & this time is no different. Unfortunately there is a major development in Hetta’s life that will cause her to make some big life decisions going forward. Hopefully author Jinx Schwartz will take us along for the ride.

Just so exciting

I think I have read all 13 books in this series, and am never disappointed. There is an element of every situation imaginable: wit, romance, danger, technology, humanity, politics, and more. I hope Ms. Schwartz is already working on Number 14. In the meantime, I am enjoying Land of Mountains. Thanks, Jinx.

Such an Entertaining Series!

Love the Hetta Coffey series. It’s so original, and full of unique, eccentric characters. Highly recommend them all. Hetta and her best friend Jan get themselves in some unbelievable and harrowing situations, but somehow that just makes these books all the better!

DEBRIS?

Usually I’m a speed reader but Jinx Schwartz has me reading every word! Combining Texas, Mexico,SW, RVs, dogs both pits and Po Thang, boats and of course Hetta and Jan’s machinations kept me glued to my I-pad for two sessions. Congratulations Jinx, you’ve done it again. Just the word Debris caused my heart to jump.

Hetta Strikes Again

The Author has once again provided a great, and timely, story that is a very enjoyable, and captivating read. The new characters were joined by people from Hetta’s past encounters of dastardly deeds and all were very persuasive. Can’t wait for the next book by the talented Jinx Schwartz.

Love Hetta and her crew. This time, they spent their hilarious, but effective efforts to rescue Mexican fighting dogs. Interesting fact bits thrown into the fiction mix. But Hetta finishes this installment in a big personal pickle. Egads! Can't wait for the next one to find out how it resolves. Jenks, it's time to make your move!!

The Hetta Coffey series continues to be one of my favorites. I love the characters, the dialogue, and the plotlines. Can't wait to see what Hetta gets up to next!

Even though this book is about the horrible practice of dogfighting, there is nothing in it that is descriptive such that it would be a trigger to those of us who love animals.

Hetta and Jan Ride Again

I particularly enjoyed this book because it centers around rescued dogs, specifically stopping dog fighting rings in Mexico and rescuing all of the animals. After the dogs are rescued the Cartel steals the “Champions” back from the rescuers and a very exciting scene ensues as Hetta and Jan prepare to steal them back.

Another fun caper with Hetta and Jan! This time they are taking on the cartels involved in dog fighting. Sad that people are involved in this and consider it a sport. Thanks to Jinx for raising awareness through the zany adventures of Hetta and Jan.

I have read most of your books Jinx. They are fun, entertaining and educational- especially this one. I’ve never known how prevalent illegal dog fighting is. How very, very sad. Can’t wait to read where you travel to next!

Jinx Schwartz never disappoints

Another great Hetta Coffey book. I have read every one. In addition to the characters reminding me of some of my fellow Texans the adventures are existing problems that matter. I hope Hetta continues her travels by boat or RV.

adventure, comedy

An adventure comedy. Hits on some important animal issues showing how greed and cruelty are overriding kindness and decency but stays light enough to be a relaxing read

Must Read

This is one of Hetta's best escapades. She loves to get herself and Jan in trouble. She's lucky to have Jenks. I can't wait for the next book.
