The series will be multiple stories by various authors, but each story will read well as a stand-alone. The story is a clean western historical with a touch of history. The story is a spin-off from this author's book, James, featured in the Bachelor and Babies series. James is the minister in King’s Ford, Nebraska, that had an infant left on his doorstep—he will need a wet nurse, and that is where his adoptive mother came in—eventually to marry and raise Robbie, along with several more children. But Robbie has known early in life that he was an abandoned baby—and deep down inside, he wants to know why and who his parents were, why did they leave him. In this tale, fate will play a hand, and the truth will come to light.
The story will have an adult Robbie taking cattle to market, along with two other local ranchers. After conducting their business, they have dinner and then walk to the saloon where they see a dandy, but who comes back to see Robbie, thinking he is Clade Newton. The man who goes by Fox has a tale about Clade and even tells Robbie where to find the Newton family on the Lazy T Ranch in Wyoming. Robbie will travel to the area, and when he gets off the train, others think he is Clade. It will be fortuitous that people from the Lazy T are in town and allow him to travel there together. Sometimes, the answers aren’t easy to accept, but you must appreciate the love of the sacrifice. For the Newtons to leave their starving baby with a stranger, knowing he is a preacher and hoping for the best—that is all they could do.
“We just wanted you to live, son. That’s all. Just survive and be happy. Truly.”
“It’s a parent’s job to do what’s best for their child. We don’t always like doing it, but that’s the responsibility God charged us with. Give them a chance to explain.”
We shouldn’t have favorites (like children), but this has to be one of my favorites stories in this series. I loved how the story unfolds, how fate brings Robbie to meet his birth family, and while bitter at first, he learns to forgive and understand. He gets to know them—and a young woman and her daughter that also live and work on the Lazy T. In many ways, Robbie has several valuable lessons in life, family, sacrifice, and love. As he gets to know Anna and her precocious daughter, Sarah, he starts to want a family too—but is Anna promised to Clade? What will happen when he returns—and brings a surprise with him? I like the Newton family, how they embrace Robbie as the long-lost son and try to be honest and open with him about their choices. But this story is also a sweet romance that brings two people together; each has their issues but slowly discovers that true love conquers fears and the past.
Chester: Were they good to you? Robbie: I couldn’t ask for better parents. If you couldn’t raise me yourself, I’m grateful you chose to trust them.
The cupids in this story are teenagers, but they are wise enough to see how Robbie and Anna are together—and even little Sarah knows what she wants—a mama and a papa—and she lets it be known for all to hear.
Josh: Maybe we can help Sarah convince him that he wants to be her papa. Jake: How do we do that? Josh: I don’t know. I’ve never tried to play Cupid before. Let’s think on it.
Anna: The last time a man offered me marriage, he left me. You’re not him. I know you aren’t, but I’m still afraid. Robbie: I’m not him, Anna. When I say I love you, it’s for the rest of my life. I’ve never said it to another woman, and I never will. If you turn me down, I will never ask another. I couldn’t, because my heart won’t be mine to give away. You’ll have it.”
“None of us know what tomorrow will bring. Sometimes you just have to close your eyes and take a leap, have faith that God will land you right where you’re supposed to be.”
A chance comment about Robbie looking like another man leads him to search the man's hometown. I enjoyed this sweet romance and the plot that includes family closeness. Well written with great characters and a very heartwarming conclusion.
Love this new addition to an good series. I think anyone would have followed the trail to Wyoming after so many people had mistaken him for another man. As loved as he was, Robbie had to have had questions all his life about why he was left in a basket on a porch. What he finds are answers, a new family and a new love. Sounds easy, but there are many questions to be answered before he can possibly have a happily ever after. No one deserves that happily ever after more than Anna, but that road is anything but smooth. Thank you, Tracy Garrett, for this strong story. Robbie is a good example of “Train up a child in the way he should go”.
The book was very good. Robbie was left on the doorsteps of a preacher's home, and has always wondered about his parents. Then ge us mistaken fir someone else and it gets the thoughts rolling. Good romance, some mild language.
Robbie- was left at pastor James doorstep when he was a baby. Has his own ranch Anna- has a 2 yr old daughter and hoped to be engaged to the H's brother Clade I enjoyed reading this engaging story that is fantastically written with magnificent characters. Lots of laugh outloud parts. Their story has a loving and complete HEA!!
Tracy Garrett has outdone herself with this book in the Cupids and Cowboys saga. Robbie finds so much more than he expected in this wonderful story. Along with a lovely Epilogue!
Oh my! Loved, loved this book! So many twists, turns and amazing subplots. A follow up to a previous book, this book crosses into a new century filled with simple cowboy pride but also showing the progression of this country.
I loved this wonderful story that answers the mystery of where Robbie came from. Such a sweet book filled with great characters. It left me with a warm feeling of satisfaction and a smile.
This story was her interesting as to how he learned about his past and how his past led to his future happiness. I love that he has two families and he found them on a whim. I highly recommend this story. It's very heartwarming.
I remember reading the book when Robbi was left at the priest door step. So wanted to really read this book about him. I must say I was excited to read but on the third character started to lose interest. Maybe someone would like reading about sweeping under the rug stories not me there was so much wrong about this book everything anything can just be waved off with a blink no consequence. Most characters are Horrible or stupid dumb people. Anna for trusting another rich spoil brat very soon after what happened to her and Clad for being a what ever he was trying to take advantage of Anna. HonestlyWouldn't recommend
