Cursed as a half-serpent, half-woman, Becca faces a fast descent into madness if she doesn’t bond with a Charmer. Unless she can find a way to break the curse instead.
Avaan is a willing and devilishly handsome Charmer, but Becca refuses to perform the final bonding ceremony and give him full control of her serpent form. When the flute is broken in a car crash and Becca and Avaan are stuck half-bonded, their only choice is to seek outside help.
After finding a hidden Lamia sanctuary, Becca is given all the freedom that she’s dreamed of since being cursed. But the sanctuary turns out to be a fanatic cult, and Becca encounters a devastating ultimatum: bond with Avaan and imprison him with his own blood, or leave the sanctuary to seek an impossible, and possibly imaginary, cure.
The choice might be easier if falling in love wasn’t a very real possibility.

I was not supposed to like Avaan, let alone add him to my book boyfriend harem!!! You made me more than like him, you made me feel for him! I kept finding myself thinking about how I should be feeling a certain way whenever you threatened his demise. I was prepared, ready even. I went into this book thinking that he should be a token character, given a pretty red shirt, and sent off on his way. Maybe to find love, maybe to his untimely death, I didn't care.
But no. No, you had to take your words and wind them around my heart, lead me down a path where I began to like him, to worry for him, dare I say it... CARE about him. Becca, I already liked and I only cared more as I saw her learn to accept herself. Her dad? Ugh. His fiance? Double ugh. There was supposed to be a triple ugh there but nooooo. It was a NO and a what?!?! Then, a fist pump and a YES!! (Not easy when holding a Kindle.) Before I knew it, Avaan had made himself a cozy little home in my book boyfriend harem.
All because of you! Forget being mad at Disney. I'm mad at Ms Bree. She tricked me, had me falling for a man of Charm. She planned the series ending. My heart is rending and I know I'm going to suffer harm. She knows how to write her men. She's quick with her wit and pen. I can't have this series end so stop it.
Les sigh. Misery loves company so grab your family and friends for a clean, intergenerational friendly, fantasy read. I'm going to go sit in my little reading corner of the internet and poutily wait for book friends to join me so we can talk all about it.
The book chronicles the adventurers of Becca and Avaan as they journey to Texas to see if Becca can find a cure for the curse she has of turning into a serpent. They encounter a vampire group en route as well as later but Becca does meet other Lamias and one in particular tells her an olden remedy to stop the madness she is experiencing without resorting to taking Avaan’s blood but she is reluctant to do so until circumstances change at the end of the book bringing the question once again to her mind.
It’s been an interesting journey for Becca accidentally turning into a lamina and then briefly being controlled against her will by Avaan. However, as things progress in this book she feels that animosity starting to change from hate for him to something else. Avaan has changed also from how he was before as he has started to understand what his previous behavior must have been like to her.
It’s a hate-friend-love type of relationship which will finally be beneficial to both of them and I recommend this book as one you’ll enjoy! In fact you should get the entire series so you can follow the lives of its main characters and watch their developments amid the challenges that they each must face and overcome.
It is a great series with one final book to come out to wrap it all up so why not get the entire series and enjoy reading about paranormals and two humans who became paranormals themselves!
I have enjoyed the series and I think you will too!
This is such a fab novella where we see half serpent, half woman shifter Becca and her adventures to find her mate. Cursed to go mad if she doesn’t bond with a charmer, things don’t go right from the start. Meet Avaan a charmer but Becca doesn’t want to complete the bond with him and give him control so of course one thing after another and they end up half bonded. It’s such a great story, exciting and gripping as these two journey together to try and sort things out and it is a great addition to this world.
This was a great enemies-to-lovers side story from the Lost Souls series. It was an exciting conclusion for Becca and Avaan. I enjoyed the chapter beginnings that had snippets from the great grandfather’s journal. It added depth to the urban fantasy world and to the relationship between Becca and Avaan. If you’ve enjoyed the first three books in the Lost Souls series, you’ll enjoy this novella.
I love this series and this world. Bree Moore’s imagination is amazing and she never fails to deliver. I love Becca and Avaan. I wasn’t expecting to like him one little bit but he slithered into my heart and now I’m stuck with him! A great addition to a wonderful series.
