Represented in these pages are the intersectional accounts of four inspiring mujeres (women) who share their narratives on finding self-love, building community and embracing activism along the way. Everyone has a role to play in the movement, it is up to you to discover yours and link it with your gifts, talents, and passions to make this world a better place for marginalized and vulnerable populations. Together we can have a great impact and invite you into our movement. i love the book especially the poems my favorite was drunk love by theresa palafox. i can relate to that poem it explains my life of ho my family can be. i would recommend this book to women because most will relate. guys can also read this book and get a perspective of a womens life growing up.
I really loved this book because it really connected to me. And also my favorite poem will be Muxeres Poderosas. And my favorite line is "We are the bulls in the area. Majestic, strong, and stubbron...You and I. We'll make it juntas. Charge through the gates, free. Amigas. Hermanas. Familia."
The reason why I fell in love with this book was because of how they described Barrio Logan.
“Danzantes fill the park center, chanting by the grandiosity of our murals that tell a story of our struggles and triumphs”. No one has ever gave so much details about Chicano park how they talk about it and how they see it I imaged in where every store was. The book for myself is deep the way they describe the beautiful park we got here in the Barrio. I am a proud Chicana living in a beautiful neighborhood where people see it as “dangerous” but I see it as a safe place to go if anything.
I loved this book because i feel like i can really relate to this book. my favorite poem is the vengo del maiz y de la raiz del frijol because it talks about myself and our raza. I would recommend this book to anybody to read because i know it can relate and it has many poems to look at.
I love this book because it is very relatable. Poem books that talk directly to the experiences we young girls face in the Barrio are not very common, so when I came across this book, I was simply amazed. My favorite poem was “Barrio Logan” by Sinai Cota. When I read this poem I was instantly reminded of all the memories I’ve made living in Barrio Logan, and not only that but also what Chicano Park means to our community. Here is a space that is a symbol of our resistance as a community, and our continuous fight to keep our culture alive. I would definitely recommend this book to all my Raza out there because it is crucial we normalize being able to relate to what we are reading.
I loved this book, my favorite poem was ANCESTOR MADE❗️ by Sinai Cota. This whole book made me feel connected to my ancestors and higher self. It’s very empowering to know about our ancestors pain so self love and activism can heal us🗣that’s it and that all.✨
I love how empowering this book is. It was comforting to know how I could simply relate to several of the poems. A couple of my favorite poems were: Word dump and Lawyer, me. I would 100% recommend this book because it’s very motivating and encouraging to be proud of being a woman, speaking up, fighting for what’s right and breaking generational curses.
this book was the most empowering book ive ever read. I can not believe the woman that wrote this book are in our community it makes me want to strive to do more so i could be a role model to young woman that are looking for their voices.
i loved the book one of my favorite parts was unknown because lately i’ve been feeling down n my mind been blank and reading that section gave me some motivation n encouragement to finally rlly love myself and accept my flaws.
