When I, the Lord of the Manor found that a servant had broken one of my prized possessions, I had to punish her; I didn't expect we would both enjoy it so much, or that it would lead to an ongoing association. But it can't go anywhere. She's lovely, but she's low-born and I need a noble wife.

When Merry breaks a vase belonging to the lord of the manor, her master, Bordren, decides to punish her himself despite her guardian, Mayda, Lord Bordren's housekeeper (or Mistress) trying to protect her.

When he spanks and then straps her, it is clear that tiny Merry is sexually aroused and this leads to Bordren's decision to teach her what there is 'to enjoy between a man and a woman'. Mayda is distraught about him despoiling her ward, but dare not challenge him lest she reveal Merry's secret.

Former high school teacher and university lecturer, Suze E Prescot (aka Essey Nelson) has lived and worked in Lancashire (according to its original boundaries) her whole life.
She loves cats and horses, and is, in fact fond of all animals. She loves reading, often reading five or more stories a week. She has no fave type of story, and her bookshelves boast detective and mystery, crime and spy, science fiction and fantasy, and plenty of humour. From Shakespeare, Austen and the Brontës, to modern indie authors, if its well-written, she will read it.
Despite her catholic tastes, she tends to write romance, and will happily argue that most fiction falls under that banner.
Her heroes are strong and wonderful men - on the inside at least! While her heroines are intelligent, capable, yet often naïve and pure whatever their age.

What a joy this was to read!

Merry is a young housewyfe in Lord Bordren's employ. When a vase is broken she accepts responsibility, the earning her corporal punishment, specifically a spanking, from the Lord. This is a purely disciplinary action, but it sparks something between the two, and with Merry's consent their interaction continues.

The kink here is plentiful and deliciously well written, and Merry and her Master make a sweetly sinful pair. The language used feels authentic to the time and it left me wanting more.

The hero is the lord of the manor in a pseudo-Victorian setting. The heroine is a servant whom the hero has somehow failed to notice until she breaks a vase. He punishes her, takes her up to the bedroom, and quickly falls in love with her. There is nothing in the plot that has not been done before, including the contrived and predictable ending. However, the writing is well done. If slightly kinky erotic romance is your thing, you will probably like this one.

Awesome story with enough suspense and a whole lot of sexy!
Gruff, widower Lord Bordren meets sweet, innocent Merry, who gets punished for breaking the vase beloning to his late wife. He's immediately enthralled by her kind nature and round buttocks.

This is an erotic, romantic fairy tale. A young serving girl breaks a precious item of her master’s which starts a relationship that otherwise never would have. Well written but with a predictable ending, fun to read.

If you like this story, you need to thank Marlee Wray. I loved Marlee's 'Owned and Shared' series and wanted to try my hand at something like that. It is far more explicit than most of the things I write, and it took a long time to get the words out (I was embarrassed writing stuff I wouldn't say!), but in the end I was pleased with how it turned out.

I'm not normally one to enjoy shorter books (anything under 150 pages) because I never feel like I get the chance to really 'learn' the characters.
It's kinda like entering into a relationship. You need to decide whether they're a keeper or not (stop laughing at me right now!). Yes, I'm weird. No, I don't care, lol.
However, when I read this one it really didn't feel like a short story at all!
The characters were well written and I really enjoyed each of them.
I loved the innocence of Merry and how dominant the Lord was.
She truly was an innocent wee soul and I loved her introduction to the world of spanking and delicious pain!
Bordren definitely gives off those "Don't answer me back!" alpha vibes and I thoroughly enjoyed his punishments...maybe a wee bit too much, lol!

Lord Bordren is made aware of an unknown housewyfe in his employment when she breaks a cherished vase. Merewina bravely takes on not only her own punishment for its loss but also that of her guardian, the Housekeeper.

Unlike his usual practice, Lord Bordren decides to punish her himself for her transgression. Thus starts a hot and steamy affair between the two involving a dom/sub relationship in which he introduces her to the pleasures of bondage, spanking, and whipping.

As their relationship deepens they fall in love but they realize their stations in life will always divide them. Throw in an evil neighbour bent on sexually assaulting Merewina and things get right out of control. How will it all be resolved?

I really enjoy Suze E. Prescot's excellent writing. Her characters are well rounded and she makes you really feel for them. This smaller novel is short on plot but long on sex so you've been warned! I recommend it for a quick, steamy read.

I read Merewina after Prescot's two contemporary romance series, Age Perfection and Living in Hope. I highly recommend both series and think you'll really enjoy them as well as this historical romp.

Brilliant! Suze delivered in this romantic story about Lord Bordren and Merry (Merewina). This is not a genre I gravitate to, but I am so happy I did. Suze delivered on every emotion of this story. It is intriguing, seductive, and passionate. It's angsty with a twist that I didn't see coming. 5 stars!
