She ultimately decides to keep living as she has been thus far, selling her knowledge from Earth to make money. But despite her enthusiasm, the Devouring eats away at her more by the day, until she ends up collapsing in the middle of a business meeting. This is a biblio-fantasy, by book lovers, for book lovers!

Un tomo que pone en relieve como la gente con dinero puede acceder a tratamientos médicos que no están a disposición de aquellos con menos recursos.

Celui-là est vraiment une coche au-dessus de les autres. C'est si émouvant et je suis tant attachée aux personnages (même Benno, mon coeur) qu'un passage en particulier m'a fait verser quelques larmes. Ça y est, je suis investie à fond. Donnez-moi le 2e arc. 😭

Ce manga est vraiment un de mes préférés. Je ne me lasse jamais des aventures de Maine.
J'ai vraiment tout les personnages ! Ils apportent tous quelque chose à l'histoire.
Mais j'ai l'impression que il ne reste plus que un tome 🥺😭😭 et ça je suis pas d'accord !
Lu en VF en physique.

Me ha gustado mucho este tomo, sobre todo la relación tan bonita que tiene Myne con su familia. 💕 Además, por fin veo avances en lo que respecta a la fabricación de papel y a ese ansiado primer libro hecho por ella misma. Es muy fácil sentirse identificada con ella.
(Me encantó el momento Myne acercándose a una estantería porque cree que le está llamando!)
Sólo queda un tomo para que se cierre esta primera parte de la serie y tengo muchas ganas de saber cómo continuará su relación con Fridda, Lutz y Benno.

Pues aca nos enteramos del costo de los amuletos para lo de la enfermedad de Myna y Frida, y lo que pago el abueoo de Frida.
Myna y Lutz siguen aprendiendo sobre los comerciantes y tomando decisiones sobre la fabricacion del papel.

Myne's near death experience has been resolved but for a hefty price: a pound cake recipe. Frieda's baptism comes and goes with winter while Myne prepares for her own in the coming summer. But baptism means apprenticeship, which could prove problematic in many ways due to her poor health. So it's time to come clean to her family.
This volume is a tearjerker. I wasn't prepared and had to put it down for a bit. And if you didn't love Benno yet, you're going to.

I can definitely tell that if I hadn't read the light novel I would be missing tons of what is going on, but since I HAVE I know ALL! Even the perspectives of the guildmaster! I'm still having fun with both versions of this story; perhaps I should seek out the anime, which my son just told me existed.

Whenever I review the next book in a series, I always wonder if I remembered all the tags from prior reviews (I don't always feel like checking, due to the periodic Goodreads lag). If I forgot any... oh well.
This is the Sad volume. ALL the sad. When Myne finally has to let the cat out of the bag about her Devouring to her family. When Benno explains why he's single. To a degree, when Lutz confronts his mom Karla about the family not supporting him, as the youngest son... but she finally listens to him and comes to an understanding that, under the status quo, Lutz would always be the lowest on the rung with his older brothers taking everything and giving back nothing, while as a merchant, he gets to shine for his own accomplishments. So... at least some good happens in this, but mostly sadness—the focus is on how Myne will die soon (likely within a year) without significant, costly intervention.
I... still don't like this as much, despite it containing the first (and only?) appearance of Liz, since the manga leaves out a few things from the light novel, and I don't mean the bonus chapters. I mean, I'm not going to sit here and compare scene-by-scene and point out which bits were cut, but ESPECIALLY since this is my second time through just reading the manga for the series (let alone having re-read the light novel AND watched the anime), it definitely feels like certain things I expected were left out.
I also think Myne's baptism dress here is different from how it appears in the light novel/anime. Maybe I'm misremembering, or I've missed something about it. I don't know... will have to verify in the next volume, I guess. (Suppose I could check the wiki, too, but this review is already somehow taking me longer than I felt like writing about the book.)
Recommended for fans, though it's a definite nadir.

Totally saw the part 1 on this manga and didn't realize it was volume 6. Eek! Jumped in anyways. I feel like I was just slightly lost not reading 1-5; however, I made some inferences and the story made sense.
The main character Myne is recovering at Freida's house from an illness called the Devouring which renders her with only two options: die within a year at home with her family or enslave herself to a noble household to get the magical items she needs to drain away some of the magic/heat building inside her. Read on to find out which path she takes!
What I loved:
The family's devotion to each other. They are all clearly close despite living in abject poverty.
Myne's friendship with Lutz. He seems head over heels for her and willing to do anything necessary to be with her and be her friend.
Myne's obsession with making paper in order to make books.

Might be kinda weird to rate a series highly that I probably won't continue reading, but I can recognize that it does well what it's trying to do while also being a bit too much for me. I really enjoy the characters and the relationships between them, but it gets into SO MUCH detail about the specifics of the world in which it takes place, down to minute details about government and economy as well as step-by-step instructions on how to make all the things Myne makes in the books. Again, it's VERY well done, but it doesn't hold the attention of my poor ADHD brain and I keep having to force myself to finish each volume (even though I enjoy it, if that even makes sense). One more volume in part one, and then I'll be reading summaries.

Myne continues to learn more about the devouring and the effects and deals with a bad episode. The book is a slice of life type book, but that does not mean there are not heavy issues and painful moments for the characters. The art and story are great and there is a lot happening which to me makes the series much more interesting than I initially thought in the very first volume. The art definitely needs to be praised as the emotions are conveyed very well and the story is interesting so you want to know what will happen next and to more characters than just Myne the main character.

This is such a lovely series. Myne and her friend Lutz take care of each other and continue to work toward their plans to become merchants. Myne's family's reaction to her bad news was sad but it made me like them even more. Myne is the ultimate underdog, just determined to make paper so she can make books, and I want to see her succeed.

Básicamente estoy enamorada de este manga. Me pilló al principio por que se llamaba “ratón de biblioteca” y por la trama. Me he encontrado algo mucho mejor.
En este libro es especial me putoencanta la relación entre Benno y Myne, es genial. Ya van varias veces que le he enseñado a mi pareja trozos del manga porque son geniales. 10/10. En nada empiezo el siguiente tomo, y necesito las siguientes partes del manga en castellano YA.

Myne trades money and a pound cake recipe to Frieda's family in return for being healed (temporarily) from the Devouring by a magic object. She realises she has to tell her family about the Devouring and how she's not really cured, making for a touching scene. She sells the rights to the paper making process to Benno. In the short story at the end, we see that Frieda has a plan, partly selfish and partly out of concern for Myne. So a little bit of a cliffhanger.

Un avant-dernier tome où l'étau se resserre autour de la santé de Maïn qui doit faire un choix de vie. Un tome très émouvant et qui permet de reprendre la fabrication du papier. Une question demeure : Maïn réussira t-elle finalement à créer un livre ?
De très beaux dessins hivernaux et aussi au niveau des costumes. Hâte de voir ce que réserve la fin de cette histoire très douce dans son déroulé.

Es un libro que nos ayuda a conocer más sobre la historia de Benno y nos presenta la gran decisión que debe tomar Myne: estar con su familia y marchitarse, o vivir como esclava de un noble.

It's sweet that Myne is staying with her family and her family is respecting her decision to not sell herself into slavery ❤️ I'm glad that Lutz's mom is finally on his side! I hope Myne gets her book before her devouring comes back! ❤️
