A double agent. A double cross. This time, Ingrid is in double trouble.

When Special Agent Ingrid Skyberg discovers an undeveloped roll of film left behind by her predecessor in the FBI, she isn’t sure what to make of the strange photos he took. A map of Scotland, an out-of-print book, a rare bird, a cluster of Post-It notes, an office party… do these images have something to do with crimes he committed as a Russian double agent known as ‘Skylark’?

Ingrid starts digging and becomes convinced that – far from being a traitor – her predecessor was just another victim of the mysterious Skylark who has killed many times to protect his identity. When a case file she has been using is suddenly deleted from the system, Ingrid knows that Skylark is now watching her… and the race is on to find him before she becomes his next victim.

Look Twice is a high-octane spy thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat, flipping the pages to find out if Ingrid can survive her most ruthless opponent yet.

Look Twice is the 8th book in the Ingrid Skyberg thriller series, but the novels can be read in any order.

Eva Hudson was born and raised in south London. Before taking up writing seriously at the age of 43, Eva worked as a local government officer, singer, dotcom entrepreneur, portrait artist, web designer, project manager and content editor.

In 2011 her first novel, The Loyal Servant, won the inaugural Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize from Cambridge University. The book was also shortlisted for UK TV's People's Novelist Competition.

In 2013, Eva received a terminal cancer diagnosis and this spurred her on to write the book she always wanted to read, a female Jack Reacher adventure. She created Ingrid Skyberg, an FBI agent working out the US embassy in London who's tenacious, resilient and determined, qualities Eva herself had in abundance as she went through treatment. Before she died in 2015, Eva had published four Skyberg books. She also left an unfinished manuscript and notes for future adventures with her partner and editor Jo Monroe who continues to write the series.

First - just to get it out of the way - I am a huge fan of the Ingrid Skyberg series. Having read all of the books, and grieving when Eva died, I have been pleasantly surprised by the continuity Jo has maintained in the subsequent installments. We have also traveled extensively, and the English locations are like visiting old friends. I'm not going to give any spoilers for those who haven't read the earlier stories, but I will try to prepare the new reader.

Ingrid is a flawed heroine - she drinks too much, makes suspicious choices in life, has some serious complications in her love life - but, my favorite, loves her motorcycles! From the original Triumph 800, to the Triumph Thunderbird and finally the Ducati, she's a badass on the highway. Ok, I guess that was a small spoiler for some. Sorry. Assigned by the FBI to a liaison position in London with the embassy, she finds herself again embroiled in complicated situations, this time in finally tracking down the real story behind the disappearance of her predecessor. From the treachery of both the FBI and the Met, to the involvement of the Russians, this is a plot worthy of any of the literary spymasters. Sometimes just lucking her way through situations, to relying on her physicality and parkour training to escape assassins, she is always entertaining and delivers edge of the seat suspense to the end.

Character development is first rate; you really care about them. However, understand that nobody is safe in these books and I wouldn't get too attached to many of the principals. My favorite character has always been Jen and I was concerned that she would be written out of this book, but she appears in a pivotal manner and I hope to see her again in the future.

Ingrid's ability to carry on through adversity and interference from those above, and around her, is what makes her so resilient. I love everything about her, especially the fact that she is flawed - and not the perfect heroine in so many other books.

I know this is just a teaser, but I read about 100 books a year and am always looking for new series and authors, and I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great read and a new favorite heroine!

Running for your life with a friend is brutal. Outrunning you best friend is survival. Ingrid had only been a teenager when she and her best friend were running from a killer. She had outrun her friend Megan and now Megan is dead. Guilt still lingers after twenty years. She had only seen a face in the dark and couldn’t identify the killer.

Andy Scott is on trial for killing a number of young women. Could he be the killer? Her mother, Svetlana, is convinced she should know the killer’s face, even after twenty years! He was the potential candidate for Prime Minister and now is on trial for twelve murders. Svetlana calls at the most inopportune times during investigations. An ignored call is a personal affront from a bad daughter.

We received a complimentary review copy of this book from the author and publisher through NetGalley that in no way influenced this review. These are his honest opinions.

Being a successful and efficient FBI agent requires a strong support team. The team goes up and down from your position. Ingrid is very well organized but keeps having her effective assistants transferred from her. Administering her position requires her to keep a constant eye on her support staff. Zeke, her newest assistant, is enduring yet another epileptic seizure. Triggers for epileptic seizure can be something as simple as a faulty electrical connection.

An envelope of old photographs found in the ceiling is a clue to the killer. They refer to a person named Skylark! Who is this unidentified Skylark? The hunt for the identity of Skylark takes many twists and turns. Meanwhile, Svetlana gets more irritated by her daughter’s lack of attention to her phone calls. Can the case against Andy Scott be fully investigated in spite of Ingrid’s distractions?
An entertaining novel that will keep you guessing at every turn. 4.5 stars - CE Williams

Like a game of tag... on a grander scale.

In this eighth book of the series, Special Agent Ingrid Skyberg discovers a camera in an unusual place. Ingrid and her newest assistant are curious to know what's on it. Ingrid gets the film developed to discover a curious collection of photos that seem to be random and unrelated. That doesn't keep her or the assistant from trying to make sense of them. When she realizes who took the pictures, she feels as though it's her duty to finish what her predecessor started.

The author did a wonderful job of portraying the brothers- and sisters-in-arms mentality of the FBI. Not much different than being in the military.

Disclaimer: I voluntarily read a pre-published version of this book. Above are my honest insights.

I just couldn't stop reading this book, it's an engrossing story that can very much happen in the spy world. A great plot, extremely well written, and with believable characters, Look Twice is a superb work of fiction that exposes the reality of the supposedly non-existent cold war among countries. The description of how the mysteries are being solved and what could be behind each clue is rather intriguing and the difficulty in believing anyone becomes worse by the second. A very, very good story and truly entertaining!

This is an entertaining spy story - set in Lindon, lots of plot twists and turns, an engaging heroine battling her personal demons on top of the bad guys, with an atmosphere of paranoid mistrust of her co-workers, any of whom could be the Soviet mole.

The writing is crisp. the plotting is smooth and logical, and the characters are believable human beings. While this is more procedural than shoot-em-up, the action sequences are well executed and take place on a human scale (no superheroic skills from the star, no massive body counts).

All in all, a very solid entry in a fine series.

Ingrid works at a crumbling old embassy building, with an overhead flickering light.that needed be turned off temporarily to help Zeke. Upon replacing the wires she finds a dusty disposable camera giving one secrets of the Cold War. She is one of a kind, aloof, and diligent to get answers once again. A stand alone to enjoy in this good series.

I enjoyed this book, an American story taking place in England gives it an interesting slant as the FBI meets the Met. Our central character has many sides to her, and you get the feeling she has lived many lives in previous novels. In this one she uses a jigsaw puzzle of photos to uncover a double agent, all the while taking down a cartel of drug dealers. Delighted to have discovered a new author thanks to this advance reader copy from Netgalley.

Wowza. I know this is fiction but just think about all the stuff that goes on in the world that we ordinary people never think about--lots of bad dudes out there and some really good folks working to stop them. Twisty, twisty plot! This might be my favorite Skyberg book yet.

The best in the series.

This really is a cracking novel and the identities of two traitors was totally unexpected.
A random find in her office takes Ingrid on an investigation and she has no idea who she can trust in her quest for the truth.
Worthy of ten stars in my opinion!!
