Being the new kids in town where you're not welcome is anything but fun—actually, it's proving dangerous, and possibly even deadly. Regardless, Meghan and Colin Jacoby don't regret risking it all to save their friend.
But now, their lives are in great peril and they're struggling to stay ahead of the enemy. Worse, a secret is revealed which pushes the magical community's level of tolerance to its peak, landing Colin in some serious magical trouble—the kind only his sister can get him out of.
But will the cost of saving him be too high?
Because she can't do this task on her own, and the solution is just as nightmarish as her brother dying—she'll need to ask the unthinkable of the most unimaginable and unkind person, ever.
Book 2 in this fantasy magical portal series is more fantastical than ever, and though the series might be directed at a teenage reader, I find myself totally captivated and involved in the twins journey of discovery, so I think it is safe to say this series can be enjoyed by readers of all ages. In this book Colin and Meghan Jocoby after trying to save their friend find themselves completely drawn into another realm, one which is inhabited by the Svoda people, and have no way of returning to their own world before another blue moon, which was to happen in three years time. The SvoDa are very secretive as a people, so many are not happy to have two strangers in their midst, and Jae, the boy they followed is in dire trouble with his community. However they are accepted and have to try to make a life for themselves at least for the time being. A life which is constantly rife with danger, as someone was after colin's magical book, the Magicante, which had travelled with him. A book he is told to hang onto at all costs because the results would be dire were it to fall into the wrong hands. Can the twins keep the book and themselves safe? Their magical powers start to hit in, Colin is very good at wielding magic and Meghan discovers she is a firemancer but struggles to get to grips with what this means regarding magical powers, she is also a seer with a catawitch for a companion. A silver haired girl appears to Colin in a dreamscape asking for his help and this is a mystery which the book leaves us with, thus making me ready to start reading book 3 immediately.
I read these three books as a set so there was no disconnect from one book to another. There were disclosures about the twins and the world their uncle was trying to protect them from. After the terrible accident with the gypsies departure from the campground some startling truths had to be disclosed and the twins were now faced with the task of deciding how to accept and develop the changes they are now faced with. Lots of character building in this book. Connections made, histories revealed and friendships solidified. The twins are about to jump into the world of magic with both feet, to save a friend. Will they be able to save themselves?
This sequel was well done but not quite as good as the first book in the series. The plot was just a bit slower, but there were still interesting things happening. This story line focused more on character development which I am sure will go a long ways for the later books. I did feel like the ending fell a little flat for me, but maybe that's because the next book in the series was not free on kindle like the first two. I still want to read the rest of the series.
Colin and Meghan have been magically transported their new friend Jae's home planet where they can learn to use their magic powers. This is predominantly a new school social life story; that doesn't mean it lacks dramatic adventures. What some readers won't like is that, although you could read this volume all by itself, it is volume 2 of 12. It's much easier to follow this story if you've read volume 1 and the plot won't be completely resolved before volume 12.
Book 2 in the series, picks up where I left the twins. Once again it's a complete story that left me unsatisfied with the ending. Because the break in time that they fell through only occurs with the blue moon, they are unable to return home. They are fostered with a family they had met in book one. This is a story of their acclamation to the new world of magic.
Omg loved this series the first two books are Awesome magic and more still not sure what else yet but Collin and Megan the twins are special not sure how or why yet but can't wait to find out
This was an enjoyable book but I prefer stand alone books even in a series. Wonderful story full of fantasy and adventure which keeps you reading until the end. This is the first book I've read by this author and enjoyed her imagery.
A young adult fantasy story based around a few teenagers that can do magic! The second story in the Fated Saga. At the end of the first book we are left on a cliffhanger as to what happened and boy, everything the twins knew has been turned upside down! This book brings up all sorts of questions and characters we start to know and like suddenly seem different. The baddies from the first book turn up again and bring more questions. I enjoyed reading part two to this series though yet again it ends with another cliffhanger! Definitely not a series to start if you can't afford to keep buying the as of writing 10 books in it at the moment.
Meghan and Collin have entered into a new realm after fighting scratchers to help jae their gypsy friend return to his magical people.. During the battle the friends father is injured and as the twins are trying to push his lifeless body through the portal the are forced to watch an unexpected and horrifying battle erupts between the scratchers and their beloved uncle Aaron. The portal closes leaving them clueless as to whether their uncle was able to disengage himself from the lethal wings of the scratchers or he is indeed dead as everyone predicts.
Being new to the group of gypsies the children must go through a council trial immediately to see if they can stay or if they will be banished of course they are allowed to stay. They are made to attend magic school where Collin excelled and Meghan struggles. The queen or leader has taken an instant liking to Meghan because of her fire abilities are of those rare form of the queens. But however she dislikes Collin though he is the only one to notice as of yet since she is careful and cunning to cover her tracks. More twist and turns more plots. Collins still being bullied even in this new magical world, Meghan is still unsure of herself has to prove herself or reach for approval from the queen who is up to something but Collin can't figure it out. What's going with jae and the visions Meghan sees of him. They are moving again what will the new home hold?
I am Glad to Say this book was awesome I couldn't put it down, there were twists and turns and a fun plot that even while it skimmed the top of it you could see the shapes lurking beneath the surface teasing you, It was a surprisingly deep book that while light and airy had such deep undertones that kept dragging you on, I found this book while looking for books to read on my e reader, it looked slightly interesting as I love all things Vampire and adore things that go bump in the night, I looked at the Author and went hrm never heard of her, I looked at the cover work and went hrm this could be a hit or miss book, this could be one of those books that could be oh my god I don't want it to end or one of those books you keep reading just to finish it but your interest has waned after page 10, I am so glad to say the Characters while simple where complex, they definitely had more to them, the writing style was the same very easy to read but compelling. the only draw back I could find about this book was it finished way to soon and left me scrambling all over the net trying to find out who this author was and what books she has written, I am very impressed a very easy good book to read that leaves you breathless in anticipation on what is going to happen next.
Ok I got the first in this series for free not realizing it was a series and read it, well it was good enough to read on so i bought the set of book I-II , of course I could not stop there and went on to book 3 I have yet to be disappointed and am looking forward to steppiing into book 4 and so on. Though I have enjoyed other series it is a rare thing for me to get into one. This series caught me off guard and I am glad it did the author is wonderful with allowing your imagination to run away with the book and its characters. I would truly recommend this book to any avid ready of magic, gypsies, or other worldly beings it truly is a great series.
The twins have a bond that keeps them linked to each other. They keep being reminded to not let that connection break but what is the reason for the warning?
As Meghan and Colin learn more about their magic and the world that they have found themselves in, they are finding that there are more things to fear. They need to trust each other now more than ever. This book takes you deeper into the saga giving you more details and more unanswered questions.
All the books end with a cliffhanger. There are 7 books in the series but all of them are available for purchase.
A great adventurous story that I've found myself hooked on.
If you're a fantasy fan then this is a book about youngsters learning about their magical skills. It's sort of reminiscent of Harry Potter, but with the siblings from Spy Kids.
I love the adventure of jumping about worlds with baddy fantasy creatures after them. Just wish the characters were a bit older. They've only just turned into teenagers, which means some of the conversations they have are a little immature. Making the book definitely targeting the younger end of adulthood. For me though, I pushed on through this, as I liked the adventure they were having.
I really liked the magical world this was set in. Everything flowed well from the first book to this one almost as if it was one book not a sequel :) The new characters were believable and (for the most part) endearing... except the evil ones. I think the introduction of new villains was really good because it would't make much sense for there not to be more as they get more deeply entrenched in the magical world.
New allies new enemies and new adventures :) I can not wait to read the next installment!!!
This is the second book in this series and it is better than the first one. The dialogue is not as awkward and the book flows much better. In this story, the twins, Colin and Meghan are trapped with Jae in the world that his people have gone to. Their uncle may be dead and they have enemies in this world who are after them. They both learn more about magic and grow in their abilities. Lots of action and adventure and intrigue. I look forward to reading the next book.
I think it was slightly better than the first book; more organised and seemed to be more planned than having random things thrown into the book like the first book seemed to be like. Though I was surprised that Meghan didn't mention thinking of Sebastian until near the end of the book. They also didn't seem to be that upset about never being able to go back home for THREE years. They still cracked jokes, worried about other things, but didn't seem that sad or depressed.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. (Audible Membership)
The twins find themselves in another dimension, where the gypsy band had moved from their summer campsite. The community they found themselves in was not thrilled to have these two interlopers in their midst. They were going to have a hard time making friends, and they were trapped for three years, until the next blue moon.
It's fun how the Author keeps you guessing. Then when you think you have an "aha!" moment. You're taken to a whole different outcome. Still packed full, of magic, Gypsies, Ghosts, mysteries & mayhem. Great twist on a new version of how the Thanksgiving Holiday came to be. Leaves you hanging, again @ the end of the book. Enticing you towards the next.
I really liked the fated saga series. To be honest the first book was just alright but the 2nd book and the rest of the series was much better. While the series was written for a younger generation, it is still a great read for adults too. I would recommend this series to fantasy fans and especially if you enjoyed Harry Potter.
Second in the fated fantasy series. Megan and Colin learn how important it is to accept and trust each other. Living with a gypsy family, visiting a ghost town, ghost uncle etc. Guess you will have to read the rest of this great tale. Great for all ages especially the Harry Potter set.
Picked up excellently from book one..I really enjoyed how the twins are starting to learn about their new world and magic..But still need to learn who to trust..I did receive a big shocker though..I've got one more to read, until I can get my hands on the other books..For a self published book, she did well
again, she does a great job giving very vivid description to where you can picture in your mind the scene as you read the words. I couldn't put the book down. it was meant to be a series though so you couldn't stop really at the end of book 2.
The fiery sequel to Awaken. Its been three years since the door opened into another world and Meghan and Colin Jacoby try to survive in another world. Discovery is the name of this game as both Megan and Colin find out more about themselves and magic than they ever thought possible.
