He knew it was time to modernize, so he created...Santa.com.
It's a time for change - Santa can no longer make everything by hand and he's updated the North Pole.
"Remember, Christmas cannot make itself.
We need the work of every elf!"
Santa.com allows for Christmas presents to be automatically made, under the careful supervision of elves.

But then something terrible happens. Something rough and tough.

It's going to be up to one young elf to save Christmas - but is it too big of a job?

I do have to admit that I'm really partial to a more classic tale of Santa Claus (homemade toys, a small workshop, etc) but this one was a cute twist on a classic.

I think the illustrations worked really well and the elves were super adorable.

I quite liked the wrap-up of this one!

Santa has retired, and the elves use Santa.com to handle delivering all the Christmas presents. Cyber Scrooge hacks the system and Christmas will be cancelled unless three determined elves can find Santa, the missing sleigh, and the reindeer.

This story is funny and entertaining. I like the mystery as the elves search for the sleigh and try to find Santa. There is also some great humor when they find the reindeer, but the reindeer have grown fat and are too out-of-shape to pull the sleigh.

I love the positive messages about preserving your heritage and not losing personal connections in a faceless technological corporation. The elves and Santa working together is what made the magic of Christmas so special, and they begin to realize that nothing can replace a personal connection, especially when it comes to Christmas.

The story line is great, but the writing confused me in a couple of places. There's a scene where everyone is standing, and then it says that someone stood up. Um, weren't they already standing?

There's another scene where some random person helps the elves to repair the sleigh. Who is that dude? What's his motivation? What's his name? Why is he helping? How does he know how to fix the sleigh? Who are you, nameless character with one line?

In another scene, the elves ask local children to help the reindeer to get back into shape. How are they getting them back in shape? Feeding them less? Riding the reindeer around? Herding the reindeer up a mountain path for exercise?

I just wish things were explained a little more. It's kind of random. I'm being nit-picky though, and I'm reading this like an adult who needs things explained. A child would not notice these things and would just enjoy the story.

One of the things that annoyed me is the present tense writing. That always gets on my nerves. It's just a pet peeve of mine. It probably would not bother other people at all.

Overall, this is a delightful Christmas story! Don't listen to my bah-humbug criticisms.

Oh my thoughts on this book are varied.

It's a great take--I mean, Christmas has gone commercial and the reminder of its heart is so crucial. Readers will recognize drones, cyber attacks, etc. It's truly a 21st Century tale.

But I really hated it. Okay, so hate is a strong word. Yet for a book that promotes heart....I didn't feel as if this book has it. The writing was stiff. I wasn't engaged in the story. It felt disjointed. The write-up was more promising than the finished product itself.

There will be a place for it in the library collection. But will I add it to my own--that would be a no.

Oh, dear. I really liked the idea of this story! But the execution is disjointed. I actually went back to see if I'd skipped over pages somehow, as some of the plot points seem incomplete. And in the end, I wasn't quite sure what happened to resolve the story.

Heeheehee, admittedly, I'd feel silly asking someone to explain a children's picture book to me.

1 1/2 stars.
This picture book is about Santa moving to a robotic factory line for the North Pole and what happens when he's hacked. It was a cute idea and a modern take on Santa (is it my imagination, or are there a lot of those this year?), but overall, this story failed to engage me. I'm also not a fan of this type of computer generated art. There's just an element of "fake" about it that doesn't interest me.

Santa.com is a clever, unique, and futuristic read! This fun book highlights how Christmas was turned from a work of heart into an assembly line production at the North Pole. When the Elves run into issues, they realize they don't have the skills or resources to pull off Christmas. I love that one brave elf tries to bring back the old ways and along the way the whole community learns an important lesson. This is such an exciting tale for littles but is all too relatable for adults.

I received an eARC of Santa.com in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved the book, and my little one liked it. I think the idea was really creative, and great job with the book! Still not sure how in the end Yo-Yo saved Christmas.

This is a cute book, but probably not for very little children. The story line jumps 2 or 3 times and may be hard for them to follow (I kept checking to see if I missed pages).
However, the illustrations are colorful and lively and the idea is very current!

Santa.com was a fun take on modern technology with Santa. The illustrations lacked a bit and writing was a tad stiff, but overall was a cute Christmas story idea.

A cute Christmas book that shows that traditions are never outdated. This book shows how the magic of Christmas can bring joy to any heart, no matter how big of a Scrooge.
