An excellent anthology of short stories, poetry, and drama, which also includes commentary by well-known authors on topics such as the work of other writers or on common themes in literature...Hawthorne's "The Birthmark" is followed by Melville briefly commenting, "On the Blackness of Hawthorne's themes." It also includes a wide range of writers, from Shakespeare and Eliot, to Pablo Neruda and August Wilson. Really handy and interesting.
