this might be a very personal rating but truly, for me, I read this book at the very timing of my life. I just graduated and still think of my career planning, this book helped me a lot in a sense of sorting out my thoughts, my dreams and what I want to achieve in life.

————————————————————————

💖 This book divided into five parts (Introduction THREE main parts, Closure) and I’ll go through one by one, so stay with me will you?

💐 Part 0: Let’s Get Started

—it’s a refreshing opener where the author acts like a guide for this journey you’re about to embark throughout the book.

💐 Part 1: Self-Motivation

— simply I can say, it’s the existential crisis phase where the author make you ponder upon what drives you, what’s your dream and from within you yourself rethink why do you want to achieve these certain goals, why you envision this kind of life?

— I also love that’s it’s not all about throwing all these questions as the author helped you sort out the ideas practically using SMART goals. The author also dissected into phases when one action you took will have its own ups and down, so does building a new habit.

💐 Part 2: Self-Happiness

— I adore how this part begins with the author asked what’s the true definition of happiness means to you. It allow you to acknowledge that everyone have their own unique answer to this very same question.

— Although it’s ‘self-happiness’, it doesn’t mean only YOU alone that go through this journey, the author highlighted how community around you which you choose, that you most grateful for their existence is one of the strong foundation to self-happiness as you can be comfortable to be who you truly are.

— this part also point out to stop dwell on past especially when you started to think of ‘what if’ where you might regret of the possibilities beyond reach. Be peace with your past and let it rest behind as you no longer have control over it.

💐 Part 3: Self-Confidence

— there’s SWOT analysis (I’m familiar with it as I took one business subject during my degree). Yup, you heard me right! I love how the author approached SWOT analysis and applied into persona goal. It will help in understanding yourself better, aligning with your own circumstances and how can you improve at least aware of the shortcomings, so you’ll cope with it easier.

— the author emphasised that it’s okay to fail, and how to deal with efficiently from within. The author also shared how to become a better public speaker and overcoming stage fright.

— in this part, I love how the author in a way normalized impostor syndrome where we ourselves, to admit having it quite hard. The author’s takes regarding this matter is intriguing and definitely I learned a lot from it.

💐 Part 4: Summary

— this is a very good closure when the author reminded us back what we’ve been through pages by pages and how the prompts available assists in how can we move forward from this point (after finishing the book).

💖 To conclude, I love the author’s writing style where it feels like we’re having two-way conversation. Also, the book being semi-autobiography make it more special for the reader to understand the content realistically.

💖 I personally acknowledge this book helped me a lot as I found it at the very right timing. As someone who just finished degree and still sorting out my career path, being at this point of life where my decision will affect me in a long run, this book serves as a refreshing perspective.

I was on the quest of finding my way back to self care and self discovery when Syaza sent me this book.

It felt like a miracle that came at the perfect time, just when I needed it the most.

Your Best Self is a self help book that can guide you to living your dream life and discover yourself along the way. It also helps you towards your journey of self growth.

This is an interactive self help book where it also provides some prompts and worksheets for you to work on and reflect as to help you discover your hidden potentials and work hard to achieve your life goals.

The book has 3 parts which are:

Part 1: self motivation
Part 2: self happiness
Part 3: self confidence

Through the author’s sharing of her life experiences, her ups and downs to be where she is today is such an enlightening perspective. Everyone has a story to tell and I think it is so inspiring. We learn from other people stories too.

I personally liked this book a lot and I gave it a solid 5 stars 🌟 a self-published self help book already been this great? Go and get it bestie!

There were a lot of things and tips I’ve learned from this book and frankly, it lifted my spirit up to work on my dream life and prioritize myself.

I also have worked on some of the prompts given and it gave me a new insight to learn more about myself, my dreams and what I can offer to the world.

If you’re interested in prioritizing self care into your life, been looking for ways to discover your potential, embarking on a journey of self growth, this book is a perfect choice for you to begin with.

Again, I owe a gratitude to @syazanazura for sending me this book along with the self care package in exchange for an honest review.

What is your purpose in life? What are your core values? What drives you to wake up every day to continue your current life? Are you living up to your potential, or are you content with just following the flow?

If you've ever had these kinds of thoughts before, then it means you're asking the right questions. Oftentimes we go through life without really thinking about the consequences of our choices, especially so when we were younger and our thoughts and decision-making were influenced by our family and surroundings (in terms of the community we're surrounded by, the environment we were brought up in and the social security of our livelihood). As we grow older, however, we start to realize that there has to be more than the humdrum of normal life.

And that's a normal progression, since the farther we go up Maslow's hierarchy of needs, the more we tend to think about our personal growth that will lead us to self-actualization. This is the kind of book that aims to help you iron out the kinks in your life, and what I really love about it is that you can clearly tell the author is practicing what she preaches (e.g. identifying her core values, evaluating her own SWOT, running coaching programs, etc.), and so her approach sounds genuine because she believes in the things she's advocated for in this book. I also really appreciate the helpful templates included as they help you in beginning your own journey to self-actualization.

A great motivational read, and it's one that I wish I had picked up earlier in my youth because it contained so many life lessons that I've had to learn through my experience and career progression. That said, it's never too late to start! If you're looking to get a step up on your personal growth, then this is a great beginner's book with great pointers and templates to help you get to where you want to be -- the best version of yourself.

I devoured Your Best Self in 2 hours today. It is a part-memoir, part-self help book, built upon the author’s experiences navigating school, university and her work as an academic and career advisor. Every chapter begins with the Syaza Nazura’s own experiences with pursuing her purpose, finding her motivation, dealing with friendships and career, and concludes with tried-and-tested practical tools and worksheets (e.g. SMART goals, SWOT analysis, habit trackers, self-exploration prompts) that we can use to help ourselves too.

I loved that the whole book felt like a two-way conversation and I felt naturally compelled to respond and participate. (My copy is now P&C and not available for loan) Syaza Nazura’s an experienced blogger and content creator too - and it shows in the clear and accessible way her book was written. I also appreciate that at the beginning of the book, she presents her work not as a panacea to all our lives’ problems and dilemmas, but a platform for her to share her experiences and an opportunity for us learn from them. While the author is upfront about her book being written from a place of privilege, the toolkits she presented in her book will be useful for anyone who is struggling with purpose, motivation, goal-setting and thinking about our place and how we connect with the world around us. I would love to see this book in schools and colleges counselling offices for lost, often overachieving-then-real-life-happened, wayward souls to stumble upon and benefit from. It will also be a great addition to your bookshelf to help you start your new year with a bang!

The book and self-care package were gifted to me by @SyazaNazura and @flonerch, but all opinions in this review are mine. Do head over to syazanazura.com if you’re keen for a copy!

Good motivation book to start of your year! It is packed with how to become organised, efficient time management, prioritising, setting the target, directing the actions and staying motivated.

I admire how Syaza has set and stay focus since school. Reading her experience feels so relax and exciting. I cant help myself to feel proud of you!

Most important aspect to discover is how to live your self which sometimes was ignored. We keep in chasing our dream, working hard, taking care of our family and friends, cat in our responsibilities but forget that ourself to need taking care. Syaza elaborate so much on how we can keep on with our 1001 tasks but maintaining of self love.

Bestie, you can get this self love pack for you or as a gift to someone. May 2022 bring us more love and opportunities 💞

Thank you Syaza Nazura for sending me this book. You have indeed edified a part of my mundane life before this year end

I believe this book is written in hope to reach those who are wondering what to do next in your life and how to plan for it. If that’s the case, Syaza has nailed it. Here’s me telling you why:

1. The writing style is written in intimate and conversational manner. Reflecting her vast experience as a blogger for more than a decade. We are introduced into the author’s life first, her schooling journey until she gets her job. For me, this introduction is adequate for readers. As quoted by Syaza, ‘tak kenal maka tak cinta’
2. The contents are well organised into 3 main themes; self-motivation, self-happiness and self-confidence. Elaboration and examples are sufficient, did not deviate from the main point and straight forward language. I always prefer this kind of motivational book, no fillers, straight to the point hehe
3. Her studying journey is quite similar to most students venturing out from a convenient high school life to an unknown adventure at the university. I dare say it is not surprising for a straight As student to went downhill during their first year diploma/degree studies. Last time, people call it culture shock. If it’s not happening to you, you may have seen your friends went through this.
4. Besides experiencing such changes in studying environment, author expressed her concern about choosing university courses years ago. This is unfortunately still happening now, especially the misconception of studying art streams is not deemed as prestigious enough. This book is therefore VERY RELEVANT FOR STUDENTS!!
5. Every chapter has a personal touch to it. I admire her courage for sharing sides of her that she wanted to hide from the world (as quoted). Sometimes, letting out your secrets doesn’t mean you’re vulnerable. It means you are ready for the opportunities and learn to defend yourself
6. I am glad author pointed out the common stereotype among young adults: trying to live up to the expectation. Our ideal life is far from perfection but we should accept the way it already is and enjoy every single moment. For further reading on this, I highly suggest everyone to pick up Break The Good Girl Myth by Majo Molfino
7. My fav part in Self-Happiness is when author asked reader to prioritise own self but also to cherish the value of friendship. Her love letters to lost friends definitely spark an idea to me. Thank you!
8. Self-Confidence chapter is by far most practical and has persuasive tone to it which mainly focusing on how to speak in public. Albeit being trivial activity to some, the importance of knowing to present yourself shows that you are capable of being independent. Also to cultivate good thinking habits and be more articulate. Did you know that your speaking style actually mirror your confidence?
9. The contents are interlaced with some inspirational quotes and pretty illustrations. There are also practical worksheet to each of her sharing. It’s like having two in one, a journal and a book
10. I particularly love the movies and song lyrics references in here. Clever!

I wasn’t exactly looking for “self-discovery” when I read it. In fact, I wasn’t expecting anything. Thus, I strongly agree when Syaza wrote

“You can read this book and choose to do nothing to change your life… or, you can choose to read this book, take out some lessons and use it to help you as you go about your life”

I indeed learned something from it. My fellow senior in student council once said, “among 100 participants attending this talk, if at least 1 person learn something from it, that’s enough for me”

This book overall: simple English, interactive approach, relevant life experiences. Would recommend people of all age to read but specific target would be around 15-25 years old

P/s: You can’t separate business students from their SWOT analysis hahahaha

This book is broken down into five easy-to-read parts, all of which are short and sweet. I took my time getting through it as I was very interested in working through the prompts and exercises provided in the book. It is just as the subtitle described, the content is helpful for those of us who seek to embark on a journey of self-discovery. It is also beautifully illustrated. I would definitely recommend this title to fresh graduates like myself!
