Discussion of theory and behavior under the various combinations of loads such members must resist is followed by a discussion of applications according to standard specifications for load and resistance factor design (LRFD) and allowable-stress design (ASD). Discussion of these two types of specifications are presented in separately numbered articles followed by worked-out examples.
