*Spoilers if you haven't read book 1!*

Hearted took an unexpected turn of events for the sequel to Granted, as Sabeara finds herself in a difficult situation after having burned down the Spirit Tree. She now has no choice but to hide her true identity, living as a prisoner named Ehren under the supervision of Shar.

The curse has now started, and Ehren wants to help Shar to search for the tokens to defeat the curse. The story introduces a new cast of characters, all with their unique personalities that I grew very found of, specially Dusane, who might be slowly taking our princess' heart. One of my favorite parts of the story was understanding more about the different stone-hearted powers and their colors.

Ehren shows so much will and inner strength, when everyone around her basically tells her she is just a princess that she can't help she insists that she wants to train and learn how to be a fighter. Her golden heart and her healing abilities were very curious and I couldn't bring myself to put the book down because I was so eager to find out more! I must say I missed Mid, I was not only relieved but also exhilarated when he finally appeared. I wanted to kick Ehren around on the head at times for making some crazy decisions but it made it all the more entertaining. The battle scenes in the arena were electrifying! I felt like I was watching gladiator but with magical powers, it was all very vividly described which made it feel like watching a real action movie!

Ehren is conflicted, both Mid and Dusane are taking a go at her love. One of my guilty pleasures is love-triangles and I have my contender picked! After that exciting ending I cannot wait for the next book in series! Thank you to the author for providing me a copy for review!

"Ehren, trust yourself. Believe in yourself. Because the only person that can ever make you feel worthy is you."

4.5 stars

I read Granted, book one, earlier this year and really enjoyed it. It was cute, fun, a bit suspenseful, and enjoyable. With Hearted, Kendra seriously upped the stakes! Not only is Hearted way more intense, it's also a major improvement on book one. And I liked book one. Hearted is just that much better. It's well known that book twos often don't live up to the first book in a series, book twos often struggle, but guys. Not this book. It's fantastic. And I think a lot of that has to do with just how much Kendra grew as a writer between publishing book one and book two. With the significant growth between book one and two, I can't even imagine how spectacular book three is going to be!

Hearted introduces us to new characters and new parts of the Granted world and I absolutely loved all of the new! It built on book one so well and fit with what was established in book one. The world building was great, the pacing was fantastic, the characters were wonderful. Highly highly recommend this series!

Some of my criticism from book one revolved around the main character, Sabeara/Ehren. In book one, she definitely gave off the "damsel in distress" vibe and didn't show a lot of inner strength, even though she's clearly capable of more. In book two, Sabeara/Ehren experiences so much growth as a character! She realizes she's capable, she sticks up for herself, voices her opinion, and her confidence in herself grows throughout the whole book. This is what I needed to see from her in book two and and missed from her in book one. Now if I can just convince her to pick the right guy....there's one correct choice her, Sabeara. You can do it. = )

Sequels often have the bad reputation of not being as good as the first book, but in the case of HEARTED, I enjoyed it more than its predecessor! While I won’t get into details of the content of the book because of spoilers, I’m very happy to say that many of the things I was hoping to see in this sequel were indeed part of the book! Granted ends on a huge cliffhanger that left open lots of doors, and Kendra Thomas did a great job exploiting that potential. Not only did we get an expansion of the world, with Sabeara no longer being in her kingdom but in the Sethen Courts, we also got a lot more insight on the magic of the Stone-Hearted and the plot to defeat the curse!

My favorite development in this sequel, however, was on the characters. In the first book, we see Sabeara interacting with her family and Mid, but not as much with other characters. Now that her environment has changed and the world has expanded, we are introduced to a new set of characters, the Evorydians, and I LOVED THEM. All caps. Not only did I love them as singular characters (and I loved that Shar is one of them, and we’ve already established that my love for Shar is boundless), but I deeply appreciated how they allowed Sabeara’s personality to shine through and evolve for the better. The Envorydians are warriors, and with Sabeara’s strong personality and blatant disinterest in being shackled to a crown, this sort of twist was perfect for her. She was born to be a warrior, and I loved her journey throughout this book.

While I did appreciate that there was such a big focus in Bear’s personal growth and on friendships, romance is still very much a component of this novel. If you’ve read my review of Granted, you’ll know I wasn’t a big fan of Mid and Bear. We don’t see much of Mid in this book (and honestly, I didn’t miss him), but instead we are introduced to a new character, Dusane, who not only is one of the Envorydians, but he’s also one of the first to believe in Bear’s potential! The author really took her time with this relationship. There are several time jumps throughout the novel, so this bond builds throughout a longer period of time. The friends-to-lovers dynamic with Dusane and Bear was absolutely beautiful to read, also because their personalities fit so well together! Dusane is intense and extremely passionate when he wants to be, but he’s very respectful of Bear’s boundaries and feelings. He just ticked all the right boxes for me, and even though this book sets up a love triangle that will unfold in the next installment, I have already chosen my side. Let’s hope Bear comes to my same conclusion.

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy! All opinions are my own.

Another fun, actioned packed book from Kendra Thomas.

Hearted is book 2 in the Granted serious. It is a YA fantasy novel that follows princess Sabeara. Falling book one, Sabeara wakes up with a new identity and we get to see a new side of her. She isn't *just* the princess anymore, the girl put on display at events. We get to see her come into her powers and become a warrior.

Sabeara isn't waiting around for someone to come rescue her, she knows that in order to win her freedom, she is going to have to fight. We get a lot of training and character development in this book, which I tend to prefer over plot development. That being said, the plot doesn't move along fast in this book. Which is fine because you really need to see the Sabeara's growth in order to have this new found respect for her.

For those of you who love a love triangle, this book delivers on that! Many of you know that I'm not a fan of love triangles, but they are common in YA literature. Fortunately, that isn't the focal point of the story, so it really didn't take me out of it.

Overall, this was a fun and interesting read. I would definitely recommend listening to the audiobook. The reader was really good and made the story come to life.

Hearted is one of those sequels that once you’re done, you realize you may have enjoyed it more than the first book. I love how this series evolves and gets better and better as it progresses. I can’t go too far into details to avoid spoiling the first book, Granted , but the ending made it so that the second book starts off on a different foot (quite literally!) Sabeara is in a new place with a new identity, so we have the world-building expanding and her character growing even more as she decides she won’t be the princess who waits to be rescued and learns how to fight for herself.

While the plot moves a little slower in this one, it shone with the characters, a lot of which are new entries. Indeed, in this second book we meet the Evorydians, who are warriors that sort of take Bear in. Shar, who is a character we’ve already met (and loved) in the first book, is one of them. I adored them, but perhaps my favorite among them is Dusane, who becomes Sabeara’s mentor, the first to believe in her, and is her new love interest. Both on a character level and on a relationship level, Dusane stole my heart, unlike Mid in book 1. Dusane and Sabeara’s development is slower, spanning a larger period of time. They’re not rushed, their chemistry is on point, and their personalities fit together so well. All of the feels! However, there is a love triangle on the horizon, so I’m preparing my heart and my mind and holding them close before they break into a million tiny pieces.

Despite the love triangle, I have a feeling I’m going to love the third book even more if the author plays her cards right. The drama, the angst…it has the potential of being perfect! My only hope is that in the end, Bear makes the right choice or I might not recover.

Thank you to the author for gifting me an e-copy. Opinions are my own!

And just like that, Kendra delivers yet another amazing novel!

Hearted is the second book in the Granted series and follows Princess of Aveladon as she continues to try and break the curse that has fallen over the kingdoms. The book begins with the aftermath of her (spoiler from book 1) burning down the spirit tree. What follows is a thrilling story full of action, suspense, and a dash of romance.

I found myself enjoying this book even more than the first. The new characters we meet in this one are fun, entertaining, and a cast of characters I quickly became invested in. I loved that there was a major fight in the Galloway that Sabeara and her friends were training for, and I thought that added such an intriguing element to this entire book. Additionally, as a romance lover at my core, I was really into the love triangle that blossoms...still trying to decide which team I'm on.

Overall, much like I recommend Granted, I absolutely recommend Hearted as well. This series keeps getting better and better and I already cannot wait for the next book to come out!!

I am not a fan of the insta love from book one. But I do really enjoy the story and plot of this book. I especially enjoyed seeing that the MC grew more independant in book two. In book one she was hindered by her royal upbringing. But in book two she found herself and became more assertive for what she wanted.

I loved the new developing friendship and romance in this second book. Which turned into a love triangle which I'm not huge on generally but this one isn't so bad. I do favor the new relationship more than the one from book two and am excited to see how it plays out in book three. IMO if you're torn btwn two people you obviously don't love either respectfully. And it's been nearly a year since she's even seen Mid. 🤷‍♀️

Possible spoiler:

I was really annoyed during the tournament when Mid interfered. Mid shouldn't have done that, even though he didn't know she was stone hearted. And this just added another tally in my liking the second love interest more. He lets her be herself and even when he asks if she's is sure. She says yes. And he says ok! Good man.

What a stunning cover once again. Ahh I’m dead. These books are such eye candy. I would buy them for the covers alone.

Hearted is an action packed sequel and does not disappoint. Tons of character development in this one. It keeps the story moving and isn’t over done. The love triangle isn’t full center but blooming. You know how I feel about those, but it’s common for YA. I just want all parties to be happy please. I loved the character arc in this one of Sabeara. Her training and becoming stronger in her own right. The story moved well and kept me wanting more. Can’t wait for the next one!

Thank you to the author, Kendra Thomas, for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review.

“Peace through the hearts.”

Hearted was one of my fave reads of 2020. The build-up of this sequel was amazing. I loved how the author was thorough with her scenes (but also not boring you to death or making it dragging) because all the questions I had in my head have been answered. Every scene that has been written has a purpose in the story and not just random words written to make the book long. You just have to keep reading til the end to satisfy yourself.

I loved many things in this sequel namely the world-building, the new characters, the new OTP, and most of all, the action. It was so satisfying to read them because I totally envisioned every single scene like I was watching a television. It was definitely worth the wait! I’m very much looking forward to the next books in this series because I’m dying to know what happens next!

This book/series is highly recommended to fantasy lovers and fans of Hunger Games. Happy reading, bookworms!

OMG THIS BOOK..GAH!! I dove in directly after finishing book 1 and literally only stopped to sleep. It was even better than book 1 somehow. I highly recommend the audiobook version in particular--very well performed and highly addictive YA fantasy!

So things went in a direction I was totally not expecting and I devoured every moment. Sabeara/Ehren is such a dynamic protagonist; I loved to watch her learn and grow into a truer version of herself in this installment. I absolute adore the interactions amongst all the Envorydians, especially Dusane, UGH. He is definitely my new favorite--Diablo is a close second!!

I was DELIGHTED to find that my guilty pleasure trope for YA fantasy (love triangles) is alive and strong in this series and it just makes me so very happy. I am most definitely #TeamDusane because I feel like he has helped Ehren discover ways to rescue herself, while Mid is insistent on being the only one who can save Sabeara. I'm super excited to find out how all of this unfolds in book 3. I've heard there's a bitch of a cliffhanger though, so I am VERY anxious!!

Hearted is book 2 in the Granted series. The covers are STUNNING. They are the most beautiful covers I’ve ever seen. They are my favourite part of the books.

The story is as good as the covers. We can see how much the author has developed as a writer.

We learn more about the world and it’s history. The character development was excellent. Sabeara/Ehren has developed a lot with time. She has become brave and confident. She has learnt to be self dependent. I loved the new characters but I missed the old characters from Granted and hope to see them soon in the next book.

I only hope that Sabeara/Ehren chooses the right guy. I am eager to know who she is going to choose. I know who I would choose if I were her.

4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Trust yourself. Believe in yourself. Because the only person that can ever make you feel worthy is you."

Tropes:
✨Love triangle
✨Destined child
✨Feisty Main Character
✨Training with the love interest
✨Found family

So this book was something more than I expected. My theories were right, WE GOT A SECOND LOVE INTEREST. Which I was excited about because of the whole Mid having to marry Sabeara's sister, but since the betrothed got cancel, I hated the love triangle. They are always so annoying, cause I always pick a favorite, and if they don't end up together I die. Literally, well no, dramatically but yes.

So this book continues the story of Sabeara trying to be useful in the mission of breaking the curse of the Stone-Hearted. After burning the Spirit Tree, Sabeara if found a criminal of the kingdoms, but Shar (Mids guardian) rescues her in his way to form a group of the Envorydians, trained warriors who's destiny is to serve and protect. As Sabeara found herself traped in the city being a prisoner, she decides that being a princess and waiting to be safe, it's not an option anymore. She starts to train in order to prove herself and others that she is destined to break the curse, become a warrior and end the war.

I loved this books, we got to see more about Sabeara as a woman fighting for what she believes, despite every man telling her she is not good enough. She stood up for what she thought was right for her, and I loved that. She was no longer the little princess that needed to be saved ,(which was kinda annoying in the first book), and that's where the new love interest comes in. Dusane is the captain of the Envorydians and sees something in her that makes her push herself training. Which is a contrary point with Mid, he loved Sabaera so deeply it makes him, obviously. want to protect her of everything. But still hate the love triangle cause I DO HAVE A FAVORITE. And I will tell you with some beautiful, tender and butterfling quotes: 💖✨🦋

"Another man is chasing the woman I love. Of course I'm upset."

"I don't care who you've become. I'll take you mortal, Stone-Hearted, princes or Envorydian."

I am a still hesitant to read the third book, which came out last Friday, yei. I don't know if my heart will handle it, cause I don't know and probably wont want to know, if she chooses my favorite boy.

This book has powers, a feisty main character, two stubborn love interest, training trope a great plot and cute found family moments. So if you like any of those tropes or things: Stop what your doing and read this book. 📚💕

Granted Trilogy:
💙Granted 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
💛Hearted 4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Summary: The second book in the series shows Sabeara captured for doing the unthinkable: burning down the Spirit Tree – a decision that she believes is the beginning of the end of the looming curse. But, after being released from prison and seeing the widespread devastation, she starts to second-guess her actions. Determined to put an end to this curse that hangs forebodingly over all the kingdoms, she assumes a new identity and embarks upon a journey to prove to herself, and her new friends, that she is no longer the pampered royal but a warrior who will fight to bring peace to all kingdoms. Of course, as if this journey isn’t challenging enough, she finds herself in a love triangle with two men who are fighting (maybe literally) to win her heart.

Short review: An exciting read that had me hooked from start to finish.

Long review: Kendra Thomas certainly knows how to build-up the suspense in a story. In this second book, we learn a lot more about Sabeara, including her great resolve and steadfastness, and we see a bit more clarity as it regards to the story of the royal family and how the dissonance began among the kingdoms.

Once again, I was impressed by her style of writing. It was very descriptive; I could clearly see the scenes and the characters unfolding like a movie.

The plot was also well-developed; I found no holes. Questions that I had in the first book were answered in this one, and I’m sure that all the questions that I have after reading this one, will be answered in the next.

What I liked:
1. Well-described scenes and characters
2. Interesting love triangle
3. Strong female protagonist
4. Great build-up of suspense

What I didn’t like:
…still searching…I liked everything 

Overall, it was an exciting read, and I’m ready for the next one, please and thanks, Kendra! 

*There are SPOILERS for the first book in the summary below, but other than that, this review is spoiler-free*

GAHHHHHH THIS BOOK! This sequel is everything I needed and more, and you betcha I dove into the third book immediately! Y’all have to check out this series!

Goodreads synopsis:
Princess Sabeara Aigoviel has been graced with a new identity. After waking up from burning down the Spirit Tree, Sabeara can no longer be Princess Sabeara, and she encounters a chilling reality. The curse has begun.

Now Stone-Hearted and a captive criminal to the Sethen Courts, Sabeara faces conflict unlike ever before. Now known as Ehren, she enters an outcast kingdom she didn't know existed. The Sethen Courts is nothing like she imagined it would be. Sabeara is thrown into a world where an elite fighting guild, known as the Envorydians, secretly resides inside the courts. These elite fighters compete in an arena known as the Galloway.

Sabeara is faced with a decision - to fight in the Galloway and win her freedom from the courts, or wait for someone to come and rescue her. Will Sabeara be able to become a warrior, and fight her way out of the Sethen Courts? Will she be able to keep searching for the tokens and defeat the curse on the Stone-Hearted race?

So I received a copy of the first book of this series, Granted, from the author upon its release and was pleasantly surprised; I was hopeful, but I did not expect to be utterly swept away into another world, full of magic and curses and royals and war and romantic angst - but I LOVED every minute of it!! (you can read my review here)

This sequel was no different, except for the growth you can see in Kendra’s writing in between the two books. I was swept away once more, and I devoured this book like I was starving; in a way, I was because I missed the characters and the world so much! This is the kind of fantasy that grips you with its story and its cast of characters so tightly that you can’t stop thinking of it. No lie, there were a few mornings when this book was literally the first thing I thought of when I woke up - it’s honestly insanity, but it’s also this emotional rollercoaster that feels like a constant adrenaline rush. GAH I really am obsessed with this story, and I’m so grateful to Kendra for reaching out to me last year and introducing me to her series.

So, if any of this appeals to you (see: a fantasy series so full of emotion that you kinda feel like you could throw up but in the best way possible, where you love the characters with all your heart), don’t let this series pass you by!

I will provide this disclaimer: there is a love triangle. I know, it’s a bleh thing for me to say… BUT it’s one of the most well-handled love triangles I’ve ever read. There’s communication, and understanding, and legitimate reasoning. While I know 1000% which side I’m on, the love triangle actually contributes to the plot, so don’t let that change your mind!

Some parts of this story I really enjoyed. I liked that Sabeara is coming into her own. She doesn't have it easy in this book by any means. She is dealing with a whole new set of people around her, a new identity, and the aftermath of her actions in book one. In some respects she has great growth as a character but in other ways she doesn't. This book ventures into the love triangle trope, which for me was a big bummer. While she grows strong and independent physically, mentally I felt like she didn't grow at all. Some might not feel that way, but for me a love triangle always equals immaturity. So while she had great growth physically I felt that her emotional growth was lacking.

Quote:

“I know I’m capable of helping. If you’d just let me.”
“You are just a princess, Sabeara. And that’s all you’ll ever be.”

Review:

The Sethen courts have captured Sabeara for burning down the SPIRIT TREE causing a chain reaction for all stone hearted to lose their powers and no more people to be turned into stone hearted! The Sethern courts have imprisoned her and for some reason she says her name's Ehren AGAIN and when Shar comes to rescue he has to go along with her name!

Shar goes to the Envoy to gather a few men to find the tokens where Ehren finds that she doesn't want to be in the sidelines anymore and wants to rescue herself! Shar doesn't agree but Dusane does he is not just stone hearted but a stony faced man who doesn't show emotions but somehow along the way she develops feelings for him! But Shar has already sent word to her family to come get her but she wants to fight for her own freedom not get out because she has a title!

But what about Mid you ask.... That you have to find out for yourself but I was shipping Dusane and Sabeara so that's how good Kendra Thomas has written this book!

A well written book, the characters are great and each have a story to tell, it isn't just about the MC but the author has given important to each and every character without it feeling excessive!, the plot was unique and the romance was light but heartwarming! Can't wait to read Beloved next!!

Another great book in the Envordyian series by indie author Kendra Thomas.
After burning down the Spirit Tree, Sabeara - now going as Ehren to hide her identity- awakes to find herself as a prisoner in the Sethen Courts. With the help of an unexpected ally she now begins to train with an elite group of warriors for the fight of her life and her freedom.

I loved that we really got to see Sabeara come into her own and her element in this book as Ehren. I think Ehren is her true self. We get to see her energy, and passion be put into something productive with no restraints of being royal to hinder her. It was a pleasure to see her throw herself into the training with out complaint and the bond she formed with the other members of the guild. I really liked the quiet mystery of Dusane and Rioux's outgoing happy energy. As well the calm fatherly presence of Theon who accepts Ehren into his lift no questions asked.

Another thing I really like that I think is underdone/rated in books is that the author includes a pronunciation guide in the back of the book. When you have a lot of original naming of people and places it’s nice to see how they should be said. I always find it distracting reading a book when I can’t say the names in my head. So it was appreciated.

I think this book really sets us up for what is sure to be a battle to come in book 3 of the series- Beloved. I can't wait to see where Ehren's journey takes her and how the reunion with her family goes.

Hearted is the second book in the Granted series. The book follows princess Sabaera and her journey to break the curse that fell over the Kingdom.
In this book the character of Sabaera/ Ehren is way more developed than in Granted and I love it!!!I loved seeing how she became more confident and aware of her capabilities.

The world building is amazing, we are in a new part of the Granted world where there are fighters, animal companions and of course new characters!!!
I liked all the new characters especially the way they interact with each others, like a family!!

Last but not least, as an hopeless romantic person, i couldn't not like the new love triangle story!!😍😍 even if I am not sure which side i will choose in the end..

I loved Granted so much but Hearted it's wonderful and I loved it more!!! you can really see how Kendra is growing as an author and I really loved the way she wrote everything!!!!thank you Kendra for the advanced copy!!!

why, why, why ??
We were off to such a good start in the first book, I was so excited.

Then...a love triangle(aka the bane of my existence) was introduced. WHY. Plus, it's her trainer? Gah, I've read that dozens of times.

I would have liked to get to know Mid more in book 1, but we learned even less about Dusane in this book. And what we do know of Dusane is boring. There's no real emotion or spark between Dusane and Sabeara. Am I supposed to be rooting for him? I'm certainly not.

Unfortunately, it's not just Dusane that's boring, I found myself bored through at least half of the book. I understand that Sabeara's growth is important but it just felt like it was filler content.

I have hope that book 3(please be the final book) will get back to the level of book 1 but I am not looking forward to seeing how this love triangle plays out, unless it's in Mid's favor of course.

Wow, I thought the first book was great, but this book was amazing. This book is the second book in the Granted series, here is the shortened version of the synopsis.

Princess Sabeara Aigoviel has been graced with a new identity. After waking up from burning down the (blahblah spoiler), Sabeara can no longer be Princess Sabeara, and she encounters a chilling reality. The curse has begun. Now Stone-Hearted and a captive criminal to the Sethen Courts, Sabeara faces conflict unlike ever before. After leaving the one she loves and her family behind during the Ethydon war, Sabeara learns what happened to them from an unexpected acquaintance. Sabeara is faced with a decision, to fight in the Galloway and win her freedom from the courts or wait for someone to come and rescue her.

Let me start off with you will not be disappointed with this book at all if you're a lover of fantasy, love triangles (like omg, how could she ever pick, they’re both great), great action scenes and wow, Kendra Thomas knows how to beautifully weave suspense into as well. In this book we meet new characters that are interesting and fun, these characters add a whole new level to the series. Not only do they help build up Sabeara into a strong woman and believe in herself and her powers, but they also show her different opinions and views than she was brought up on being a royal. I loved seeing Sabeara bloom and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store. Kendra did an amazing job again with details in this book, I still felt as though I could see the scene playing out right before me.
Now I am off to read Beloved to see what the next chapter in the book is.

I was obsessed with the first book in this series and was super excited to read this book as soon as it was released! I’m usually a bit skeptical of sequels if I like the first book a lot but I loved this book even more than the first one which rarely happens for me! I absolutely love Kendra’s writing style and I was so excited to follow Sabeara on her new adventures! I love all of the characters in this book and we are even introduced to to some new characters which was awesome! I don’t want to get into too much detail as you all need to read these books and I don’t want to spoil anything but you guys seriously need to check this series out! I definitely recommend this to fans of the Throne of Glass series!

Kendra’s fantasy world is unlike other fantasy books I’ve read. It’s unique, compelling, and full of beautiful details that make you feel like you’re there!! Sabeara, the main protagonist, is an enchanting character who goes on an adventure to help to save the kingdom from a curse. From Princess to warrior, Sabeara continued to surprise me with her strength of character, will, and determination. I found her character to be an inspiration, and she shows how we can all achieve our goals if we just put our minds to it. Granted will let you fall in love with the compelling, life-like characters and will leave you wanting more. I would highly recommend it!

This a great addition to Granted! I really enjoyed the story development that Sabeara goes through in this novel! She has a choice to be rescued or rescue herself. Sabeara has to learn to thrive in the courts and possibly for the first time have friends who are her own and help her understand what is to be your person. Then the conflict for Sabeara arises in the form of deep cerulean eyes! OOh no! I still feel some things in the novel could have been expanded on, especially in regard to Rioux and Sabeara's relationship since they are the only two girls in the Envoy. Perhaps more will be explored in the third novel! I look forward to seeing what is in store for our heroine and friends as they continue on the adventure to save the kingdoms and themselves!

If I loved Granted, I loved this one even more. In this book we get more into the curse and find out some things that are relevant for the next books. The first half it’s not fast paced, but this second part has a few things going on plotwise, and I really love reading how this story develops.

But I have to say that probably what I loved the most were the new characters, they made me laugh, scream and suffer. Sabarea finds herself surrounded with this new people and we get to see their friendships develop. To be honest, I liked them more than some of the characters in the first book.

And my final point to touch here, is the fact that I loved how Sabaera finds herself and her purpose in this book. Though she still has some childish treats, I think that she has matured a lot in this book. She knows who she is and what she wants and doesn’t want to do.

Of course, I love the way Kendra writes and how easy it is to follow her writing. If you haven’t read Granted, you should, because it’s amazing and this series looks very promising.

This was a very good sequel to Granted!! This book picks up right where Granted ended. Sabeara is imprisoned for burning down the Spirit Tree and causing the curse to begin. Sabeara is also stone hearted and her heart is gold.

Sabeara is removed from the prison by Shar and finds herself in the Sethen Courts. The only way out is to be retrieved by a Royal Court (her family or Mid’s family) OR win her freedom in a fight.

Sabeara befriends some of Shar’s friends who are Envorydian fighters. She makes the decision to learn how to fight in hopes of becoming strong enough to gain Shar’s respect to join him on a rescue mission and to search for tokens to end the curse.

There is a love triangle but it is nicely done. I really enjoyed this book!

The second book was much better then the first and kept you on your toes. I love have sabeara is finding herself, her strength and powers. She had bonded with so many and the twist and turns near the end made your jaw drop. Started the third book right after and can’t wait to read more from her.

I enjoyed getting to know more about the world and stone hearted magic. We are also introduced to a new group of characters who become like family for Sabeara, the envorydians. I loved her growing relationships with them and look forward to continuing on in the story.
