High-Risk Rescue is a Love Inspired Romantic Suspense book that will draw you right in from the first high action page. Full of intrigue, fast paced action, faith, relationships this one is a winner you won't want to miss!
Expected publication: March 29th 2022 I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
High-Risk Rescue is the action packed first book in the Honor Protection Specialists series. I like that the hero of the book, Ayden Honor, and his siblings have started a protection agency that ties in with their last name. There are four siblings and I look forward to reading everyone’s stories in upcoming novels.
Hannah was thrust into danger that she did not understand and definitely did not expect. She seemed to not truly realize how much danger she was in for a large portion of the book and sometimes took risks that surprised me. Ayden worked as hard as he could to keep her safe, yet even though he and his siblings were good at what they did, the fact that their agency was new came through with how the bad guys sometimes outsmarted them.
I liked that Ayden and Hannah still had a connection and were drawn to each other, even though they had a painful history. What pulled them apart remained a secret for most of the book and Hannah and Ayden had to overcome decisions made in the past in order to move on with their lives.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Eeeeppp!! A new series about a private protection team and a family-run one at that! I love the way Goddard sets up the series in this first book, giving readers a glimpse at all the team members though this story focuses on Ayden.
And, double eeeeepppp -- a reunion romance that is just as mysterious as the suspense! What went wrong between Ayden and Hannah? I needed to know in the worst way. So did Ayden 'cause Hannah was the one who broke things off. And now she's under his protection which is all kinds of awkward.
The high impact opening scene sets the stage for this taut suspense. Relentless attacks, tons of action, and all that lovely romantical angst kept me frantically turning pages. Phew! I can breathe easy now...at least until the next Honor Protection Specialist book comes out! (Great last name for a family of law enforcement types, eh?)
High Risk Rescue, book 1 of Elizabeth Goddard’s new Honor Protection Specialists series, is a slam dunk from the get-go. Hannah is surprised when her former love, Ayden, shows up as protection at a press conference her boss is holding. Not just because it’s him, but why there is a need for any protection in the first place? Then the bullets start. Trust, faith, secrets, love, suspense, and action are all woven together into a fantastic tapestry of storytelling. I’m now not-so-patiently waiting for book 2! I was given a complimentary advanced reader copy of this book. My opinion in this review is entirely my own.
Talk about a book that will have you captivated from the beginning to the end. I just couldn't put it down.
Hannah is working as an Assistant to the CEO of Greenco and when a press conference was fixing to start discovered that her boss had hired a bodyguard. From that point on the story gets so good that if you aren't careful you could put spoilers in the review.
All I have to say is this is one book that you won't want to miss.
If you enjoy inspirational suspense, then please give this author a try. Elizabeth Goddard is a dab hand at creating wonderful characters and good stories with suspense that will keep the reader excited throughout.
My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. The review is my own opinion.
HIGH-RISK RESCUE by Elizabeth Goddard is the first book in the Honor Protection Specialists series. It’s the fabulously well-written, adrenaline pumping suspenseful story of Hannah Kahn and Ayden Honor.
Hannah Kahn has been trying to work her way up the corporate chain. When Kristen Mayers had to take early maternity leave after the doctor orders complete bed rest, she hand-picked Hannah and trained her to replace her. Hannah believe her time had come when she became Personal Assistant to Alfred Stevens, CEO of Greenco. First order of business seems to be moving her from assistant-in-training to press secretary when it was announced that they were on the way to a press conference to announce that the company was going to go public. Imagine her surprise when just prior to the event Alfred announced that he had hired protection for the event. What did they need protection from? Shortly thereafter, she found out that her worse nightmare was happening in living color. The hired protection was none other than Ayden Honor, the love of her life, who she had walked out on all those years ago at the hands of his father, who now owned the firm Honor Protection Specialist. Before she had time to get over that shock, Alfred made a completely different announcement saying he was retiring just before someone shouted “BOMB!”
Ayden had taken this job, the first assignment for the firm run by himself, his two brothers, Brett and Caine, and his sister, Everly, because it had seems an easy one with promise of more work to come. Boy was he wrong! Now here he was trying protect and to get to safety not only his new client, but his ex-girlfriend too. If Mr. Stevens had done as he had asked of him by sticking to him and not getting separated, he might have been able to do it. However, someone took out his client and seems hell bent on taking aim on Hannah next. He will NOT have someone else die on his watch. He will do whatever it takes to keep her safe – even if he still can’t figure out what happened years back.
Some of Hannah’s actions have Ayden having second thoughts about her innocence in all the events, but when she continues to the targeted and he had time to talk to her, he knows she is telling the truth. Now if he could only get the truth out of her about the past.
Hannah’s main concern is her mother, who is ill with cancer. When events led to them needing to take her to a safe house, she refuses to leave her mother behind – especially after the thugs had already paid a visit to her mother’s house without finding her as she hid. She might not be so lucky the next time. However, they need to figure out a way to continue her treatments on the sly as well.
The problem is that it seems no matter where they go or how much security that have the bad guys are always nipping on their heels with them barely getting away by the skin of the teeth over and over again. There has to be a leak or someone on the inside! Can Ayden keep Hannah safe? Will old feelings and hurts surfacing have them each second guessing themselves? Should Hannah tell him the truth about what happened all those years ago or would it only cause him more heartache? Will they be able to find out the truth about why they are being pursued so relentlessly? Although you can never go back, is it even possible to go forward – IF they can both survive all the danger being thrown at them?
HIGH-RISK RESCUE is a fast paced, edge of your seat, can’t put down book that will have you quickly turning pages and impossible to put it down once you start reading it. It’s all wrapped in a thread of faith that makes the story all the more enjoyable. Elizabeth Goddard has created some fabulous main characters, who I can’t wait to read more about, all while creating some fabulous supporting characters that I would love to read their stories as well. As the first book in a series, it blows the mind about what’s to come next. I can’t wait to get my hands on the second books in this series! My favorite quote from the book is Hannah’s motto spoken to her often by her mother – “Your braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.” Words we can all live by.
HIGH-RISK RESCUE by Elizabeth Goddard is most definitely without a doubt FIVE STAR reading at its best!
This book took me by surprise in a good way and had me eager to find out what would happen next from the first chapter. Hannah is doing her job when her boss surprises her in hiring a bodyguard. Not only does Hannah NOT understand why her boss would need a bodyguard but it also turns out to be her ex, someone she never thought she would see again. In real life that would be a problem for many of us, but not for Hannah. Ayden is one of the good ones and is determined to keep Hannah and her boss safe.
Ayden was a hero from the very beginning, now he just had to stay focused on the job regardless of how he has a soft spot for Hannah. Truly loved how his siblings helped in every unexpected scenario gone badly.
Everly, Ayden's sister, is not my favorite character, but I understood exactly how she felt in protecting Ayden's heart. She is strong, thoughtful, and capable in every situation. She is also fearless and loved that.
The gondola scene was truly wonderful, wished it had been longer :)
Loved Hannah's mom in this book also, she reminded me of my own mom.
I kind of figured out who the culprit was early on, but that did not make the story less intense or wonderful. I didn't consider Hannah naive in any way. She's meek, compassionate, a hard worker, and determined to do the right thing even when danger is imminent. She also carries too much shame and guilt from the past that isn't hers to carry, understood that really well also. The ending REALLY won my heart over after loving the entire story, a dream comes true to Hannah that was extremely touching for me.
Such a lovely book and filled with hope, danger and faith equally!
Thanks to the publisher for the free book provided. I was not required to write a positive review, the thoughts and comments are my own.
Are you looking for an exciting, thrill-a-minute story that leaves you longing for the next book in the series? Your search is over! The action begins on the first page of High-Risk Rescue and the tension continues to build as the story progresses. Hannah Kahn is thrust into a precarious situation where she desperately needs protection but why does her bodyguard have to be the man that she loved years ago? Security Specialist Ayden Honor may offer Hannah physical protection, but how will they both deal with the emotional turmoil?
Elizabeth Goddard excels in writing suspense, and she's filled this book with twists, turns, and heart-pounding excitement. She's also created a lovely, inspiring story with realistic characters dealing with serious trust issues by turning to God and allowing Him to work in their lives. High-Risk Rescue is a poignant tale of lost love, damaged trust, and the healing that comes from hope and faith. I recommend this book to all who enjoy Christian romantic suspense.
I received a copy of this book from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.
High-Risk Rescue by Elizabeth Goddard didn’t seem as intense as many of the Love Inspired Suspense books. And I liked it!
Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of intense, high-stakes moments throughout this book that kept me reading. It was so well-balanced with character development with both Hannah and Ayden that the book gave me some needed breathers between the intensity. It was also a great introduction to Ayden’s siblings, who I hope get their own books in turn because I have a feeling there are some stories there.
Add in a strong faith element and some scenes set around the beautiful (and sometimes imposing) Mount Rainier, and High-Risk Rescue is worth the read.
Disclosure statement: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
High-Risk Rescue is the first book in Elizabeth Goddard’s new Love Inspired Suspense Series, Honor Protection Agency.
I enjoyed this story! It was fast paced while also leaving the characters (and readers) with lots of questions as to who the bad guy could be. I also liked how real the characters felt. Neither was perfect and the doubts they wrestled with made them relatable.
If you enjoy romantic suspense, then I recommend reading High-Risk Rescue. I’ll be keeping my eyes out for book 2 in this series, too!

High-Risk Rescue By: Elizabeth Goddard High-Risk is a Loved Inspired Suspense. Goddard Pens a suspense that will capture you from the start and hold onto you to the end. Action, suspense, fast paced, mystery, and faith will keep you turning the pages to see what is going to happen next. I could not put it down. The story is well written and the characters are well developed. I highly recommend High-Risk Rescue. I was given a complimentary copy of this book, All open ions are my own.
Action begins on the first page and continues throughout this great story. Relationships, trust, family, love, and faith fill the pages of High-Risk Rescue. I couldn't put this one down. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
Elizabeth Goddard penned this suspenseful romance that Ayden and Hannah shared in the past, as one that was filled with old hurts and a secret left unsaid. Yet, the emotions were still flowing strong, even years later. Now, danger seemed to sneak around every corner, every staircase, every open piece of land, racing after Hannah. Even with Ayden's siblings assisting in this first agency case, there were mistakes made, lessons learned, and a couple corrections that were put in place for future clients. Ayden placed his heart, his job, even his life on the line. The final question remains: would Ayden let go of past hurts and move on with Hannah? Or, what would the future hold? I loved this book and the concept that love can carry on into the future filled me with hope! I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!!
“High-Risk Rescue” by Elizabeth Goddard is book 1 of the Honor Protection Specialists series.
Ayden Honor is hired to protect Hannah Kahn’s boss. When the boss is killed, not only will Ayden protect Hannah, he will have to protect his heart, too. Hannah can’t believe her new bodyguard is her ex. She ended it with Ayden years before and vowed never to tell him why. Now, Ayden and Hannah have to face their past while trying to solve the mystery of who is after Hannah and why they want her dead.
Ms. Goddard gives us a story about faith and forgiveness. This reader can’t wait to read more stories about the Honor Protection Specialists.
Ayden is starting his new protection service when his first client introduces his assistant, Ayden's ex Hannah. She is just as shocked to see him. Then things go crazy, and her boss is shot and killed. Now, Hannah is running for her life, and Ayden needs to figure out how to help her and still keep his heart safe. With the action heating up, that will be very difficult for do.
The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with an action and character oriented storyline that has some kissing but no steam. The characters are vivid and engaging. The Christian values are woven into the story and don't seem to be forced.
Quite a bit of riveting action. Hannah Kahn has started a new job. At a news conference chaos ensues and her boss is killed and she is shot at! What is going on? Her boss' new bodyguard hired just for this event tried to protect them both but her boss didn't listen and is dead. Can she escape the killers? But why would they be after her? The bodyguard is her ex-boyfriend from years ago Ayden Honor. Will Ayden and his siblings be able to protect her and figure out what is going on? A good story and exciting read.
This is an excellent book and a great beginning for a series. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books. From the back cover: Surviving a shoot-out is not how Hannah Kahn planned to start her new job. But when her boss is killed, the shooters think she knows something and make her their next mark. She'll have to rely on Ayden Honor - her boss's bodyguard and her ex- to outrun the mysterious mercenaries now intent on chasing her. And the secret she's kept from him must finally come to light.
Elizabeth Goddard keeps your eyes glued to the page! If she authors a book I automatically want to read it! This is book one and I can’t wait to read the next one! It addresses forgiving yourself and each other for past mistakes and shows the healing that truth can bring even when painful.
this is a riveting story to the end. hannah is pick to be the bosses assistant but at the event her boss has planed there is a shoot out and now she has to depend on the security guard the boss hired and it is her ex boyfriend. now she has to depend on him very good story if you like suspense you will want to read the book
This is a good beginning to the Honor family series. Ayden is the oldest of the siblings, and decided to start a security business. He didn't know his first job would include protecting his ex girlfriend. There is a lot of pain between them, but the HEA is totally rewarding.
I loved that both never got together and she never really forgot him. She made mistakes and kept secrets that nearly cost her losing her life. Looking forward to book #2.
