DNF. I'm not going to rate this because I only got a chapter or two in before I decided it wasn't for me. I didn't read the first book in the series and I think, although this seems like it could be a stand alone, reading the first one would help. Maybe Adam is more likeable in that one. In this one he seems to lack presence, self esteem and appears extremely easily led which turned me off of him being any kind of alpha anything.

Additionally, I will read about a lot of scumbags and villains, but I'm not interested in plots that revolve around Mega Churches and the parasites that run them. It's just a personal preference because none of that would allow me to sink into a romance frame of mind.

No biggie. I'm sure others will love this one, the ratings seem to support that. I'm going to just give it back to the KU system and move on.

“𝐘𝐞𝐬, 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫.“

Adam Armstrong is the man we need in our corner. Fierce. Strong. Unrelenting. Protective. And so so dirty, I mean FILTHY!! Hold on to your panties because Adam just might take them from you!

Hazelnut (how freaking adorable is that nickname - major swoon) is a force to be reckoned with! She’s back and ready to take on all the shade that Clementine holds. And believe me, Clementine can hide behind its religious facade but ain’t nothing holy about that town.

These two are sooooo amazing! I love their story!

LJ takes is up a notch with this one and she doesn’t disappoint! The kink is off the charts! As a 12-yr Catholic school girl attendee, I should be down right appalled…but that Devil can invite me into the confessional EVERY SINGLE DAY!!

Words cannot express the disdain I have for this book. And it probably isn’t for the reasons a fellow reader might think. This was the main event in a lovely blind date with a book box that I received this last fall and I couldn’t be more disappointed in the two books. There will definitely NOT be a second date with either author.

I wasn’t raised Catholic, have never attended a mega church, and didn’t get my degree from a faith based college…and after reading this I am grateful. I know this is fiction, but if even a fraction of the drugs, alcohol, sex, and murder is going on…or if this is what attendees are thinking about, I am glad I don’t run in their circles.

I imagine this book is supposed to be shocking, and maybe to some true believer it is…but I am afraid to the rest of us saying things like, “This town is Jerusalem with their tits out for Jesus.”, doesn’t really have the shock value that it is meant. I felt like this book lacked authenticity for true irreverence.

It is riddled with grammatical errors, especially around pronouns…they really should complain to their editor for not catching all of those.

The main character is a girl who wears a rosary (but doesn’t seem to be Catholic), breaks out of an academy that her two adopted dads put her in to return to her small religious Canadian town where everyone thinks she murdered their beloved priest/pastor (yes, some call him priest and some call him pastor…it’s the strangest religion I have ever encountered). And she had motivation to kill him, as he groomed her and several other underage minors (female and male) having sex with the lot.

When she returns the boy she thought would help her doesn’t seem to be. He spends a lot of his time avoiding getting roped into the family business of murder and televangelical mega media, which he does by doing drugs, taking pills and drinking hard alcohol at all hours of the day. The two have a bumblr account in which they confess to one another they are into breath play and so throughout this ridiculous story they partake.

The religious aspects are a snooze and do not ring true, the girl wants to be a musician and favors heavy metal music…there is no way she is attending “Pastoral Leadership” and “Biblical Studies” college courses. Also…rosary bead wearing, confessionals, and the word priest intermixed with a modern day mega church…was just making me cringe.

Run as far away as you can from this book. The church and the mafia working hand in hand…where do you come from? We ALWAYS knew.

I will read anything LJ writes. It doesn't matter what it is. She has this way of creating defiant fmcs and alphahole characters that make you want to choke them, yet hug them and then you fall in love with them.

There are so many twists going on in this book! Just when I think that I may have figured something out, wrong, mind blown. Speak of the Devil picks up where Oh My God left off and the blow up of Clementine. Hazel was framed, but now she's back to find out the truth, but uncovers a whole nest of snakes and lies. Adam tries to keep her out of town, but Hazel isn't having any of it.

Adam and Hazel are so beautifully broken together. He does everything he can to protect her, while she goes running head first into situations. They have off the charts chemistry and so, so much spice 😏😏

LJ has knocked it out of the park again. With every book, there are so many detailed twists and turns and I am here for all the rides. The end of this book is crazy, it doesn't end in a cliffhanger per se, but leaves it open for more in the SAA world. I cannot wait to see what LJ brings us next!

Oh my god, this BOOK. She OUTDID herself with this one.
This is book 2 Of the Saint Angels Academy series. Man this blew me out of the water. This author KILLS IT in the bully romance genre.
Omg, Adam, what a d**k! But my GOD, I loved him!! Not only was his character so well done, his attitude and mouth cracked me up. Hazel , I just loved her. What a strong , bada*s heroine. She knows what she wants and she’s brave enough to face her demons head on.

Neither of them can fight their feelings for one another , but the odds are completely against them.
The steam in this book was off the charts ! Adam and Hazel are EXPLOSIVE and ADDICTING together.
This book may make your pages melt!
I csnt NOT WAIT for book 3!
This is a must read series!

I knew Hazel’s story would pack and punch and I’m glad I wasn’t wrong. This book was so much more than I thought it would be. The lies, the secrets, and the betrayal. It is an endless roller coaster of emotions.

Hazel is back in Clementine to get justice after being framed but the one person who could help her is trying to get her to leave. Adam wants to keep Hazel out of Clementine because he doesn’t think it’s safe for her but she won’t go without a fight. During her journey Hazel and Adam uncover more secrets about their families and what is happening behind the scenes.

The tension and chemistry between the two is off the charts. Hazel and Adam both show new sides that I didn’t expect. Both are stubborn which leads to them clashing a lot but they know how to make it up. Hazel does stuff without thinking while Adam is hesitant to turn in his family. There are a lot of moments I wanted to smack both of them for not listening to each other. But all the fighting led to some great steamy scenes.

We get some Deliah moments which I was happy about. I love her and Hazel’s friendship and I’m glad they found each other. This book was great and I can't wait until the next SAA. That ending has my head swimming with theories

Style: Dark bully Romance (College School)
Story: 4/5
Enjoyment: 4/5
Dark Level: 1.5/5
Sexual Level: SEX-CITINGLY GOOD
Triggers: Yes
Violence: Yes
Male: Sexy & Bully
Series: Book 1
Pages: 323
Audio: N/A
Kindle Unlimited: Yes

STORY:
I have to say, I love this one a lot more than book one. Adam was all over the charts for me, but whatever mood he was presenting in those moments, bullying or sexual tension, I love it. Toxic, dark, demanding and intense. Hazel’s character compliments Adam’s character. I enjoyed her in this one. The story gave me, so many things mixed up that actually came out good. I really like the mafia aspect as well.

SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
You started seeing sexual chemistry early on in the story and I felt it was really good. I am very satisfied with the sex scenes.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
We saw characters from book one and more in this book two. I won’t say anyone stuck out a lot but waiting to see where this goes.

OVERALL:
Good addition to the ongoing story, but different characters. I think it fits my personal taste and what I like to see and read. Probably won’t be for everyone, but if you’ve read this author, you know what to expect.

✰✰TRIGGERS: sexual assault, talk of rape.

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.

Speak of the Devil is book #2 in the Saint Angels Academy series by author L.J. Woods and is a dark romance with plenty of drama, suspense, kink, and steam, with twists and turns you'll never see coming. I've read probably nearly all of the books this author has written and she never ceases to amaze me with how deliciously dark and dirty her words are.
Now, about this book, yes it can be read as a standalone but I would encourage reading book #1, Oh My God, first as the main characters in this story make an appearance in that book. Reading it before this would give you better insight and understanding into the plot for this book.
We are back in Clementine, a small town that has just been rocked by scandal. Hazel has returned to clear her name, find out the truth and seek revenge but what she uncovers is a world full of lies, killers and corruption. She asks Adam for his help but does he end up doing more harm than good?
Adam has never had his father's approval and desperately wants it. But at what cost? He's always had a thing for Hazel and every time he thinks of her, his dark, dominant and kinky side comes out. When he is fed lies and given the task of running Hazel out of town, how far will he go to ensure she's gone?
Wow. LJ Woods blew me away with this story. The chemistry and steam between Hazel and Adam was so hot, you could literally feel it seeping through the pages. I literally cannot wait to see what Ms Woods comes up next with the next installment for this series.

Thank you to the author, L.J Woods, for providing a copy of Speak of the Devil (Saint Angels Acadamy book 2). I have reviewed honestly.

Speak of the Devil features, but is not limited to, the following themes:
○ Dark romance
○ Bully romance
○ Toxic relationships
○ Mafia
○ Workplace romance
○ BDSM
○ Corrupt organisations
○ College
○ Triggers including mentions of rape, sexual assault and grooming

My overall rating for Speak of the Devil is…

4 Stars!

This book was not what I expected at all! We saw a slight spark to Hazel's persona towards the end of the previous book, but she really let herself free in this one and I loved that she was able to do that for herself. Adam is a bad, bad boy with demons and dark desires, his character complimenting Hazel's beautifully. I did find some pacing issues throughout the tale and the toxicity of the mains relationship did frustrate me a bit, which is odd considering all the dark romances I've read, so I'm not really sure why it bothered me so much. I guess I just saw the equalness of Hazel and Adam and wanted them to be happy. Overall, another fantastic read by Woods and I can't wait to read Milos story.

5 STARS for Speak of the Devil by L.J. Woods

ARC received from Booksprout and author in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

So much to love about this book :

Great cover ( visual of Adam ) and book blurb would have me one clicking
Mafia influence
College bully romance
Great characters and secondary characters
Standalone but I highly recommend the series this is Book 2
Explosive storyline that will keep you guessing
Could not put this book down and read pretty much in one sitting
Heroine - Hazel Hawthorne is just so strong

Hazel Hawthorne is dangerous. A danger to me , to my reputation … to my heart. And the smart move would be to walk away .

This book is a darker , gritty romance one that will keep you totally captivated !!

Highly recommend this author , book and series !! Loved it !!

This baby right here is a dark dirty and delicious bully romance that is off the charts HOT AF…. This author knows her ish and writes such phenomenal books and characters. Adam was a complete D**k like majorly but you cant help but fall completely in love with the A-Hole. Hazel is the perfect match for Adam because she is a complete bada** and she gives as good as she gets, she is smart and strong and is ready to face everything straight up. Complete girl crush!!! The chemistry between these two burns up these pages as you read them. Im talking ticking time bomb explosive and I am here for it all. This series is fantastic and I cannot wait for the next book.

Having picked up Ms.Woods's work for the first time recently I've been looking so forward to picking up more of her books! As soon as I stumbled across the synopsis for this story I knew I had to read it next! Being new to the Saint Angels Academy world I couldn't wait to get into it! I really enjoyed this story!

Hazel and Adam's journey isn't an easy one. Right from the prologue this story pulled me in and had me excited for more. I wasn't sure what all was going to happen with these characters and I really liked that! I enjoyed how I felt so many things throughout with them as well!

With Speak of the Devil, Ms.Woods has created such a good read that'll be sure to pull you in and make you feel so much! I can't wait to go back and read OMG soon! Looking forward to more from this author!

Romantic suspense at its best!! What i love about this book series and this author, is the amount of twists and turns that are thrown into the story, you just never know what she is going to hit you with next and it really keeps you addicted to the story and most definitely on the edge throughout!!

Adam and Hazel's story was quite simply amazing and one you don't want to miss, these characters will push all your buttons, you will hate Adam to begin with, because he is an a$$ most of the time, but Hazel was strong, determined and feisty and knew exactly what buttons to press!! Together they were explosive!!

I cannot wait to see where the author takes this series next, but i know i am along for the ride!

Devilishly dark and deceptive. This was not at all what I was expecting! Yes it is dark and it is a bullish read but it has very intriguing characters that you can not help but love to hate and them hate to love them as your strung along a visible line that will take you to a great wealth of love and cherishment you will not find in the escape that has you transfixed. This was a great read and for a genre I do not really favor I am enamored with this author and her ability to transform her worlds from dark to light in a way that will leave you breathless! SO grab Miss Woods latest and do not forget to speak of the Devil!

I was so excited to read Hazel’s story especially after what happened at the end of the previous book and I definitely was not disappointed. Hazel is back to clear her name and uncover the truth about what really went down. Adam is the guy that your parents warned you about and the one that your supposed to hate but I couldn’t stop myself from loving him. I was rooting for Hazel and Adam because they were perfect for each other even if they couldn’t see it at first. I am so excited to see what happens in Milo’s story.

Hazel returns back to Clementine and wonders why Adam is so cold to her. He needs her to leave this town for good as it is either her or his family. Hazel is determined to clear her name and won't let Adam stop her. The chemistry between Hazel and Adam is sizzling hot, and they are having trouble keeping the boundaries clear. I thought there were so many twists in the story, and it was pretty dark but entertaining.

Adam and Hazel

This was a good read. I loved Hazel, she knew what she wanted ( which was justice and revenge) and she was determined to get it. She was not letting anyone or anything stand in her way. She stood alone against everyone and was willing to die to get it. I give her props for that. I mainly give this book 4 stars for the dark, twisted intimate moments between Hazel and Adam.

Such an awesome read! Yet another on-the-edge-of-my-seat story from LJ Woods. Adam and Hazel's chemistry and love is off-the-charts. Hazel's need to clear her name and discover who she is combined with Adam's need to protect her while struggling to balance family loyalty with moral conscience makes for one epic love story. And, once again, LJ Woods leaves the reader hanging at the end of the book wondering what wild ride is next in this series. Wow, just wow!

LJ does it again! Loved Gabe and Delilah but the spice definitely steps it up for Hazel and Adam!

No shortage of action here. After the death and scandal of her accused of killing pastor Godfrey she comes back to clear her name to have Adam get in her way. Adam is trying to protect her from his mafia family and the truths they hold.

When first reading the book I thought it was a college bully/lovers type book but it was more of a mafia type thing. The storyline was a bit hard to be believable to me but the chemistry between the two of them was great and steamy. I will say I was super annoyed with them not saying everything to each other and for Adam not listening to her over his family!

Seriously? Through a good bit of the book all I could think was Hazel was dick struck. I like how she got ballsy the more the book went on. Adam well there was times I wanted to punch him in the face because of his trust me speech. I have questions on the Hazel and her mom situation its confusing. All in all it was a great fucking book. Now we wait for Milos book😳
