This was a great second volume and I am now definitely on board for this series! I cannot tell you how happy I was when Ayase called out Ah-kun on his bullshit. Yes, Ah-kun has a right to be worried about Hinana dating a celebrity, but I loved how Ayase said, "I don't want to hear complaints from someone who won't even step into the playing field". BOOM, BITCH! I am so damn happy that for once, FOR FUCKING ONCE, a love interest in a romance series called out the childhood friend love interest for wanting to be with the main girl but never vocalizing it. And that, my friends, is one of the reasons why I love Ayase's character so much: he CLEARLY EXPRESSES his desire to be with Hinana AND clearly expresses his desire to show affection. Ayase knows what he wants in a relationship and while he doesn't communicate everything properly, he is clear in expressing his feelings for Hinana TO Hinana. That already makes him one of the best romance manga love interests, THANK GOODNESS one of them as their shit together and knows what they wants and VOCALIZES IT.

I'm very surprised that I'm already getting some backstory on Hinana despite this being the second volume. Some drama regarding Ayase has also been heavily foreshadowed, but that's to be expected considering he's in the entertainment industry.

While I'm not usually fond of creators trying to show "perverted equality" by having both main characters do perverted things, I have to say I genuinely enjoyed seeing Hinana take such an interest in Ayase's body. Her expressions were priceless and the whole exchange was pretty funny. Also, quick note, can I give this series credit for making the main couple and ACTUAL COUPLE within the first two volumes?! Yes, that reeks of insta-love and usually I'm not down for that, but considering both parties are clearly interested in each other I'm glad that the creator cut the bullshit out and made them a couple early on rather than make readers suffer through multiple volumes of misunderstandings and stupidity before they main duo actually becomes a couple *coughTakaneandHanacough* *coughKiminiTodokecough* *coughanonymousnoisecough*

I am quite fond of this series already and am curious to see where it goes! Also, I'm definitely interested in the potential juicy drama! I can't wait!

Ugh this is such a good shojo series holy crap. Loving the main characters so much and that this is exploring a relationship and not a "when will they/won't they" kind of series aka every shojo ever.

Really reminds me of a lot of what I'm currently going through with my first relationship so this is pretty fun (minus the whole bf is celebrity).

I was looking forward to continuing this series after I read the first volume and so I decided to jump right into this one and I loved it. This volume was so much better than the last one.

I loved how they acknowledged their feelings for one another and started dating and that we didn't have to wait forever till they finally confess. Also, her childhood best friend having a crush on her kind of bugged me a bit. I mean, A love triangle? Do we really need that?

Hmm.... I'm not gonna lie, I have mixed feelings with regards to this volume.

While I still enjoy reading this for it's lightheartedness, I have to say I am quite intrigued at all the different layers this volume managed to show us. First of all, Ah-chan also having a crush on Hinana felt like something that happened all of a sudden. Also, Ayase having some sort of disease was also shocking and not something I would expect. But most of all, this one being just the second volume and having them be in a relationship already was what shocked me the most. I would have appreciated it if the Mikimoto-sensei first showed us the two slowly falling in love/meeting in secret before being official instead of having them thrown into being in a relationship with one another this instant.

Anyway despite the story seemingly being rushed with all these twists and stuff, I'm still excited to read the next chapter and really see how "Funny Bone" will play a part into this. As well as Ahchan and Ayase's sickness.

To be frank, I'm still not 100% completely sold into this series, but so far I think this one CAN have the potential into becoming a good series as well.

Sometimes I think about the millions of manga out there and how this particular one had to go through hundreds of people to be written, published, and then selected from a very narrow pool to be translated into English officially. Why?

It still makes me ill, especially when it's so unsubtle about Kaede just being a straight-up groomer, but this volume was slightly less bad than the first. I'm interested in the future of the story but I'm not sure I'll be able to stomach reading much more. We'll see.

Toujours pas convaincue à 100% par Kiss me at midnight. Il me manque un petit quelque chose pour vraiment accrocher et pour l’instant, l’étincelle n’est pas là. Ce n’est pas non plus une lecture désagréable, loin de là, mais j’aimerais qu’il y ait un peu plus de magie dans cette lecture.

Le type de romance coup de foudre n’est pas non plus mon trope préféré, cela y joue sûrement. Les deux héros cherchent à se connaître l’un et l’autre mais on sent que les choses vont assez vitre entre eux deux. Cela compense le fait qu’ils n’arrivent à se voir qu’en coup de vent, vu le métier de Kaede. L’obstacle le plus important pour l’instant dans cette romance.

Mais on sent que plusieurs choses vont probablement perturber tout cela. Déjà on a ce triangle amoureux qui se profile… je déteste ça surtout que c’était tellement évident que c’en est dommage. Un peu moins de facilité aurait été chouette. On a aussi ce soi-disant lourd secret de Kaede dont tout le monde parle mais pour lequel on n’apprend rien… Je n’aime pas vraiment non plus le procédé de faire miroiter aux lecteurs quelque chose et de le faire poireauter pour un suspens qui je le sens va finir par un « mouais… c’est ça le secret… ». Bref à ce niveau-là je ne suis pas convaincue. J’ai cette impression que Rin Mikimoto essaye de trop en faire pour tourner dans le drama.

Après la romance est mignonne et assez atypique donc cela compense. Hinana et Kaede apprennent doucement à se connaître et à s’ouvrir l’un à l’autre. J’aime toujours autant la franchise qu’ils ont installé entre eux. C’est clairement rafraichissant. Reste à savoir s’ils le seront sur tout.

En installant plus la romance, Rin Mikimoto nous fait comprendre que les choses « sérieuses » vont pourvoir arriver et j’espère travailler plus cette romance qui sort des sentiers battus. J’attends toujours un peu plus de magie et de voir où tout cela va mener.

This was a great second volume. It really improved and built upon the first volume. The art style continues to both impress and entertain with both the dramatic and comedic moments. I can definitely say I'm hooked on this series now.

I'm not going to lie to you guys...there's some juicy drama right from the start of this volume. Rumours abound and Hinana doesn't know what to believe, but it's not long before she and Kaede have everything sorted out...just in time for Hinana to come down sick. Kaede's busy with work but...at least Akira is free to take care of his BFF. I'm sure you can imagine how thrilled Kaede is by this turn of events.

This volume lets us see another side to Kaede as he gets a wee bit angry and snaps for the first time. But it's not long before he's brushed it off and his back to his usual self, still, we do get a glimpse of his temper. He and Hinana are still trying to get to know each other and navigate their new relationship, it's all still new and things need to be worked out and so on. Shige seems a bit gruff, but this volume makes it obvious he really cares about Kaede and he's like a parent to him.

The romance between Hinana and Kaede really starts in this volume, as does a potential love triangle. Yep. Akira is totally on to them...and he's about to embark on his role as "the other love interest" as he makes it obvious as he has a bit of a thing for Hinana and he decides he's going to give Kaede some competition.

Hinana continues to be totally relatable, and it's so easy to empathise with her and you're sitting there like...yep. That's me. I'd totally do that too! She's such a likeable character, and it's really easy to root for her and be on her side.

Along with the start of the romance in earnest...and the love triangle potentially kicking off...we get an intriguing look at Kaede's old band and how they react to him and I'm really curious as to what went down between them all, exactly! It looks like we might get more on that and his relationships with the various members, in the next volume if the cliffhanger ending is anything to go by!

This volume, while still having some silly bits, doesn't have nearly as much silliness as the first volume. But it does have plenty of cute scenes and the art is both gorgeous and cute! I really love the way the artist draws the characters faces for certain scenes and reactions. The plot is moving at a nice pace, throwing in some drama with the cute scenes and setting up a couple of other things to look forward to in coming volumes! I feel like this volume started to be a bit more serious, but it's still got it's funny and odd moments to keep it balanced. There's plenty of Cinderella references to keep an eye out for too, and yeah...there's the odd cheesy bit too...but I mean...we all love a bit of cheese at some points!

Fricking adorable! I love Kaede and Hinana. The plot thickens in this volume: we learn that Hinana is adopted, wants to go to a good university, and wants her family to feel like a real family. I'm unsure when she was adopted, and I think her father might be dead. We also learn that Kaede has some sort of "bomb" over him, that would ruin his career. His former bandmates know about it. An illness? A secret from his past? I'm not sure right now. The events of the manga were pretty cute, and I enjoyed it a lot. I ship these two hardcore, rivals be damned! (And yes, my enthusiasm is necessary.) 5 stars!

This was a cute second volume that added more dimensions to Kaede and Hinana, which was nice. The art is so pretty, and Mikimoto-sensei had me laughing and smiling the entire time. Good stuff! 4 stars.

Hinana è una ragazza seria e studiosa ma dall'animo romantico. E come in una favola un giorno nella sua scuola girano un film con la star del momento, l’ex membro della boy band Funny Bone, il bellissimo Kaede. Un ragazzo affascinante, talentuoso e dall'animo un po’ pervertito. Impossibile non innamorarsi di lui, ma sarà possibile per una ragazza come tante stare insieme ad un attore?

Una storia carina e divertente e molto romantica. Nei primi tre volumi si trattano molti temi dalle difficoltà del mondo dello spettacolo (e dell'avere una relazione), le difficoltà di studiare ma avere una relazione segreta; e poi le rivalità, i problemi di Kaede con i vecchi membri della band che ha lasciato e che scoprono la sua relazione e la voglio rovinare. Anzi è solo uno a volerlo fare, lo stronzo Mitsuki: ma perché? Ch cosa gli ha fatto Kaede da portarlo ad agire così? Ma non dimentichiamoci anche del miglior amico di Hina, Akira, che ha una cotta segreta per lei e con l'arrivo di Kaede decide di farsi più intraprendente con la ragazza.

Questa serie mi ha colpito fin dal primo volume e sono stata felice di aver potuto leggere subito i successivi volumi che introducono molto bene la storia generale e promette, per i successivi, tanto amore e divertimento, mostrandoci anche come i sogni possono diventare realtà.

Aufmachung

Ehrlich gesagt, hätte ich die Reihe wahrscheinlich nicht gekauft, bei Betrachtung des Covers und des Klappentextes.

Tatsächlich gefallen mir die S/W Illustrationen im Innern wesentlich besser. Irgendwie habe ich das Gefühl, dass er dort die Liebe zum Detail für die Charaktere so richtig hervorsticht. Auch die Chibi Zeichnungen sind unfassbar toll.



Protagonisten

Anfangs dachte ich wirklich, die beiden könnten nicht gegensätzlicher sein. Aber dieses anfängliche Bild macht es umso spannender.

Hinana ist sehr fleißig, lernt gern und ist unfassbar strukturiert. Jeder Tag beginnt exakt gleich. Sie ist klug und sieht sich in ihrer Freizeit gern allein Liebesfilme in einem kleinen Kino an.

Ayase hingegen ist ein gut aussehender Superstar, der in der Öffentlichkeit Inkognito bleiben muss. Er ist sehr selbstsicher, hat einen Hinterfetisch, doch scheint er Gentlemen zu sein.



Fazit

Irgendwie empfand ich beim Lesen gleichzeitig Glück und Herzschmerz. Die beiden Charas sind einfach so wundervoll und das Setting so toll, dass ich hoffe, dass sie die Hindernisse, die nach und nach gestreut werden, überwinden werden.

Ich kann nur sagen, ich bin süchtig nach der Reihe und hoffe sie wird nicht so schnell enden.

This continues to be really fun! Despite the marketing text, it is not really a 'Cinderella story' -- the entire point of Cinderella is that the character of lower social status is unhappy/mistreated, and the potential romance with the wealthy/powerful person offers not just personal happiness but a form of rescue. Hinana is not immune to the thrill of dating a celebrity, but she's happy with her everyday life and her friendships, so the story is really able to focus on the ups and downs of the actual relationship. Kaede continues to be a stand-up human being, with his 'butt alien' thing used appropriately for affectionate humour and never for denigrating or objectifying actual women, and Hinana is shown to have her own desires (including sexual ones) and to really appreciate Kaede for who he actually is. I particularly loved the scene where he's filming a love scene and rather than being jealous or insecure, Hinana is passionate about his work and abilities. I love seeing shoujo tropes undercut in such a positive direction & I can't wait to read more of this!

Francamente continuo ad essere perplessa: ancora non capisco da dove sia nato il sentimento tra i due protagonisti. Ora come ora, Hinana vuole un amore da favola, solo che per ora mi pare più presa dal lato estetico che da quello caratteriale; Kaede dal canto suo non sempre ha degli atteggiamenti molto consoni alla situazione (senza dimenticare che al momento sta frequentando una minorenne).
Comunque sia, si profilano già diversi guai all'orizzonte - un possibile triangolo (con il migliore amico di Hinana alla carica) e alcuni brutti segreti nel passato di Kaede e il suo rapporto conflittuale con gli altri membri del gruppo di idol di cui faceva parte prima della sua carriera da solista.
Speriamo che nei prossimi volumi ci venga spiegato qualcosa di più e che venga dato un qualche fondamento alla storia tra i due protagonisti.

I picked up the first of the series on kindle unlimited to check it out and ended up reading the entire series ending up staying late to finish. I just loved the idea for this one the celebrity and the high school girl just works. I love that they both grew so much over the course of the series. This is a quick fast paced sweet whirlwind romance. I'm going to need these for my collection. I was super sad to see the series end but I'm so glad that I got a happy ever after. It's a beautiful story with equally beautiful artwork.

Due volumi e questi sono già insieme. Ma soprattutto lei è completamente attratta da lui... Quanto mi son divertita a vederla combattere contro se stessa perché vorrebbe disperatamente toccarlo ma si vergogna... Anche se poi cede!

E c'è anche il triangolo, con qualcuno che sfida Kaede. Un po' me l'aspettavo. Ma lui con i suoi commenti sui culetti è favoloso...

WTF. That's all I have to say. So the love interest is a perv, possessive, and sorta of yandere. He's also a cheater??? And yet he loves Nana. WTF. WTF. WTF. Why? Why?????????

Honestly, I'm ready to just dive off a cliff into an ocean and just swim and pretend to be a mermaid and never return to a civilization that has this story.
