FALLing is a best friends to lovers romantic comedy set in New York City during the Fall. Josh and Constance have been best friends since childhood. When Constance's long term boyfriend breaks up with her and throws her out of their apartment, Josh immediately agrees to take her in. What starts out as a temporary living arrangement, quickly evolves into a fake relationship, followed by uncontrollable sexual tension that they've spent their entire lives trying to deny. When Josh surprises Constance with a trip up north to a secret cabin, the tension boils over, forcing these two lifelong friends to face the truth once and for all. Are they really just good friends? Or has there always been something else there; something between them that they can no longer deny?
I adored this book so much. This is by far the best friends to lovers I’ve ever read and if more were like it, it would probably be one of my favorite tropes. Their transition from best friends to something more was brilliant. And I really love how they maintain their amazing friendship, just with more. The spice was also great. 🔥
I hesitated finishing it because I was so afraid of the author making them have a third act break up which would totally ruin their whole dynamic and relationship, but thankfully they didn’t. 🙌
The reason it’s not 5 stars is that there were spelling/editing mistakes, also, at times the writing felt immature - the transitions weren’t great and certain minor moments were pretty cheesy. But overall, a great read!
If you want a super hot friends-to-lovers story with moments of light humor, and more moments of deep emotion, then I highly recommend you read FALLing! The cute cover drew me in, and I was pleased to find that Connie and Josh were both characters I really cared about. Connie is independent and confident, even after a harsh and surprising break-up, and Josh was supportive, hot, and funny. Their 'best friends forever' history, where neither of them really ever wanted to cross that line into romance until lately, was perplexing to me, but I also really appreciated a different view of what male-female relationships can be. I also adored Connie's family, especially her Nan! Oh, and have I mentioned how HOT the friends-to-lovers trope here is?? Because it is!
Enjoyed this! A very sweet story about long time friends finally getting together. And no third act drama - phew! Also makes me realise that I am definitely missing a turkey print dress in my wardrobe 🧐😄❤
This was a cute friends to lovers book. It had all the gushy moments that make reading romance worth it. One of my favorite scenes was of Josh chopping wood!
Some of the dialogue was a little cringey to read. I enjoyed the second half of the book more then the first half. A great choice the Author made was to make the main character, Constance, independent. So many books have the main female character being totally dependent on the male love interest. This book was refreshing because they were both independent. Another great part of the book was that there was a scene with women supporting women, which is sometimes hard to find in a book. I loved that she included it, instead of putting the two women against each other.
I would like to say a big thank you to the author who very kindly forwarded me an ARC of this book, for my Kindle, in return for an honest review. This book has a best friends to lovers trope and is a wonderful romantic comedy set in New York City during the Fall, oh yes and don’t forget the high sauce level!!! Connie and Josh have been best friends for a very long time and when Connie is dumped by her boyfriend and is left with nowhere to live, Josh steps up and helps her out and the wonderful will they won’t they fun begins!! I loved how their relationship evolved, from friendly banter to the realisation that they are falling for each other….. This was a gorgeous rom com with a hea, a wonderfully written story and plenty of spice!!
FALL-ing 🍂 Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Author: G.G. Gleason Pub date: 9/23 Genre: Romance Clean Read: Not even a little bit! 🤣 Content Warning: 18+ Language and sexy time
Thoughts: This was the sweetest besties-to-lovers story. Connie is a Physician’s Assistant and real-life heroine, who works her ass off and cares deeply for others, which is how she comes to be friends with Josh in the first place. She takes him under her wing when he moved into the neighborhood as kids and the rest was history. Josh as a kid is shy and unsure but grows up to be a smokin’ hot, take-charge, high profile NYC real estate agent.
When Connie gets dumped by her no-good-two-timing-douche of a boyfriend, AND kicked out of HER apartment, she turns to her best friend - Josh. He just does what they’ve always done for each other, be there. Without question, with unwavering loyalty and unconditional love…as a best friend would…so they think.
The long history that binds them and their fierce adoration for each other is palpable. When Josh takes Connie on a previously planned camping trip, the attraction they’ve been denying or didn’t realize was there bubbles to the surface as they have an entirely uninterrupted weekend together.
The book tells the story and follows their journey as they discover, unwrap, and revel in the new facets of their relationship. I loved that it was such a complete picture of their story and the freaking sweetness of it all (mixed with spicy and delicious boudoir scenes) is enough to make the reader recall their own friends-to-lovers experiences.
QOTD: Did you ever date someone who was a long-time friend first? My husband and I were friends for 8 years before we dated and have now been married for 9 years. 🥰
Thank you so much for this ARC!! I can’t wait to read Allie’s story next! 🤩🎄🌨📕
This was a lovely fall read about two friends figuring out their future together. Settle in with a cup of hot apple cider in front of your fireplace and enjoy this fall-themed romance. Be prepared for some tension, some sexy times, and the road to finding true and enduring love.
* Thank you, G.G. Gleason, for trusting me with your ARC. I've already gotten my pre-order in ;) *
Who doesn't love a good best friends to lovers romance? Constance goes through a lot, but her best friend, Josh always seems to be her rock. After getting broken up with and having no place to go, Josh invites Constance to move in with him as a temporary fix. Low and behold, we get to see a trope of fake dating that leads up to sexual tension. Temporary turns into something a little more permanent. When the true comes out, two people who care deeply about each other question why they never saw each other in the light they do now. I loved this book! As always, G.G. provides a swooning release that keeps me on my toes! I cannot wait to read what comes next.
Friends-to-lovers is not one of my favorite tropes. It's typically missing the tension I crave. But this one showed me the appeal in giving into a love that's always been there.
The book is dreamy in so many ways - NYC love, LumberJosh, sexy times, the connection they share that only grows. It's going to be a fun series!
Falling was a cute, yet spicy friends-to-lovers read. I loved the sexual tension and comfort level between Connie and Josh. Why couldn't I have a lifelong best friend to fall in love with?
A Physician Assistant is shocked when her boyfriend dumps her unexpectedly. What is even more surprising is finding her best friend has been her true love the whole time.
Constance doesn't handle her break up well. It was not something she even saw coming, let alone the further information he has been cheating on her. In her fury, she went to the only person she knew would make everything better, her best friend since childhood, Josh. She interrupts him with a one night stand date and tells him to "get rid of the b*itch." Which he does and then gives her his guest room to stay the night.
Josh stays by Connie's side as she navigates separating her life from her ex. Constance even moves in with Josh until she can find a new place to stay. In a short amount of time, both realize they are incredibly comfortable and happy around one another. They have always been more than just friends even if they have always been platonic. Everyone else in their lives is quick to suggest they finally date and see if it can lead to more. They've always had each other since seventh grade, so why haven't they tried to be romantic partners as well?
This is a very confusing book. The pacing lags a little. The formatting is extremely confusing switching between the two Protagonists without any transition. The couple spend a lot of time together, are happy, and avoid a 3rd quarter crisis, which is lovely. But in general the book feels amateurish. Some editing and trimming could really shape this cute story and make it great. There are a lot of love scenes. It is a slow burn to get there, but after that it's one scene after another. While they were good, I did find myself losing emotional investment in the couple. Josh feels a little unrealistic. Connie was obtuse to a lot of details about her life. The fact these two never considered dating before felt ridiculous. They were extremely involved together for them to have never even been aware of their true feelings. The closeness they shared before they were a couple was extremely unrealistic and would make it impossible to date other people long term. Overall the story could benefit from a beta reader to help shape the details. Nice HEA and Epilogue.
Side note: the cover could use some more work. The theme looks Fall and while that is when it takes place, it's not an important component to the story.

I am so disappointed in this book, the book is only around 350 pages and the first 200 pages I was enjoying it but the last 150 just ruined it for me completely. I really did like Josh’s character a lot especially in the beginning. My BIGGEST complaint about this book is that there is literally NO CLIMAX WHATSOEVER. Like this book might as well be called a novela cause what the fuck. The first 200 pages were before they got together which I enjoyed MUCH more not even just cause anticipation but I think it was just written better it even made me laugh a few times. Then once they finally got together it was literally a book about how much they wanted to constantly have sex. I am not one to say a book has too much smut but I think quality over quantity. And while most of the time it was just mentioned that it happened, it was like these two only wanted each other for the sex I swear It was ridiculous. I could understand now why the author decided to make it a best friends to lovers trope because if they hadn’t known each other since 7th grade and already had that relationship…. There would have been NO emotional connection built at all I swear all they ever did was have sex. Also it was SO damn cheesy, and I’m a sucker for romance but it was just ridiculously cringey. I’m sad cause the first fall contemporary romance I read was a stinker so I decided to give it another chance and I thought I was going to like this one :/ it also didn’t really give me fall vibes like I was hoping, it briefly described some fall foliage and then they celebrated Halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas and new years. ALSO they drive to a cabin in New York in OCTOBER, they pass the fall foliage and then while they are there a few days IT SNOWS???? Anyways yeah this was a miss for me
I really struggled with this book to be honest. I wanted to like it but the FMC was just so dang annoying and to be truthful quite full of herself. I really didn’t see what Josh even saw in her. From the very beginning she was immature, very aggressive (and not in a cute, funny way) and flat out irritating. She threatens the ex in the very first chapter then several times throughout the book says “I will murder you” as if it’s some funny joke. It just wasn’t funny. Or cute. I almost felt like this book was being written by a teenager.
Unfortunately there were several grammatical errors throughout this book so I can’t even give it an extra star for being well written in that aspect. Overall it was a flop for me and I probably should have just dnf after the first few chapters when it was clear it wasn’t for me. At one point the main characters are at club with another couple and the female friend tells the FMC she needs to go to the bathroom so of course the FMC goes with her bc “girl code” but then makes it known she’s annoyed bc her and the MMC were having a moment. The friend ignores this little pout (rightfully so) and then when the FMC goes into the stall the friend goes outside the bathroom to wait. But then she gets caught up for a few extra minutes and the friend is just gone. Like what? What happened to “girl code”? Why make a big deal bringing this up just to completely abandon it?
This was a swoony, fun and so hot best friends to lovers story I enjoyed so much! 😍
This rom com was so funny and hot! A perfect example of why I love the friends to lovers trope so much! Josh and Connie were definitely a delight that put a smile on my face from start to finish.
For starters, I absolutely loved their friendship, they were just so comfortable around each other and had this amazing chemistry that made me look forward to see developing into more. They were so protective, loyal and supportive of one another and undestood each other better than anyone. It felt so heartwarming and touching to see how they knew each other so well that knew exactly how to care for each other in the way they needed.
I loved the little snippets of the beginning of their friendship, they had the sweetest start as best friends and even though it wasn’t completely pleasant, it took just one accidental kiss for them to realize how perfect they were for each other. The switch in their relationship felt like the most natural thing and I loved to see everyone else around them sighing in relief and saying “finally”. Their banter and their interactions with the secondary characters made me chuckle more than once and really enjoyed seeing them exploring the depth of their relationship going further as they realized they were always meant to fall for each other.
“Maybe you never really, truly stop falling in love, if it’s the right person.”
The epilogue made me sigh happily with how sweet it was!
𝙁𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙞𝙣𝙜 is now available and I 100% recommend if you need a cozy, wholesome and ooooh super steamy read!
Many thanks to G. G Gleason for gifting me this early copy! Can’t wait for Allie’s story!
I went into the story with the expectation of a fall ambience based on the title and book cover. There were only minimal descriptions hinting at the season in the beginning, so I never felt immersed in the story.
I enjoyed the conflict in the scenes where Connie’s ex shows up, but there were only a few of them. I found that the book focused too much for too long on only Connie and Josh with little interaction with other characters. Along these same lines, I felt the sex scenes should have been spaced out more instead of in consecutive chapters.
There was a surprising amount of swearing and vulgar speech used in both the dialogue and narration. While I can understand the characters speaking in such a way, I have never seen it done for third-person narration. If it had been written in first-person narration from Connie’s perspective, that would have made more sense to me. Additionally, the third-person narration switched between using the name ‘Constance’ and ‘Connie.’ Again, characters do that, not third-person narration.
The general story and underlying meaning were good. The characters were well-rounded and realistic.
Want a steamy rom-com full of chemistry, sexual tension and adorable romance? Then read this book! Like right now!
There was so much I enjoyed about this ‘best friends to lovers’ romance, here are just a few points I can mention without spoilers!
✨ The banter and chemistry between Connie and Josh is some of the best I’ve read. They had me laughing out loud and swooning all at the same time.
✨ I enjoyed how you got to see both characters realise their feelings for each other and how genuine it came across in the story. It wasn’t some sudden thing like “oh, now I love you.” You could literally see their love changing as the story progressed.
✨ I love how genuine the friendship between Josh and Connie. They truly understood each other and whenever one needed the other, they were right there by their side.
✨ There was a lot of steam in this book and it was AMAZING!
FALLing was such a fun and quick read, and was the epitome of friends-to-lovers.
I loved reading about Constance and Josh and how their friendship grew into something more! The banter between them was so fun and extremely believable. The way that they [finally] came together was very satisfying, but I still felt myself wanting more. I realized that what I was missing in this book was conflict. Josh and Constance didn't really need to overcome anything to be together, and I missed that tension.
Other than that, this book was such a fun quick read! Definitely recommending for those who love the friends-to-lovers trope and if you're just looking to escape reality for a bit!
I love best friends to lovers stories so I was excited to read this one. I loved the fall and holiday vibes sprinkled throughout the book and I enjoyed watching their relationship grow to more than friends in the first half. I wish that there had been a little bit more plot overall. Felt like everything wrapped up halfway through the book and then not much else happened in terms of conflict. Some of the dialogue was super cheesy and a bit too much for me. Overall, an okay read. Perfect for someone looking for a super fluffy book with holiday vibes.
Are you excited for the fall season and want a cute seasonal romance to get you in the seasonal mood? Look no further! The best holiday novel is here!
In “FALLing” you follow Connie and Josh as they conquer levels of friendship and love! I had the wonderful chance to read an advance copy of this amazing book by G.G Gleason and enter into New York City’s fall!
Connie has just been broken up with and she is looking for a place to call home again. Little does she know it’s right in front of her, in the form of her lifelong best friend, Josh.
So get your Pumpkin Spice Lattes, your cozy socks, and “Red (Taylor’s Version)” because this book is the perfect fall read and it’s out now!!
What a beautiful book and characters!!! I loved they were mature and didn’t have the typical struggle to find their love. By the way, Josh is the perfect book boyfriend….My husband will need to read about Josh-y!!
Some heavy language that was not needed more so at the beginning. But that is just my taste.
I liked how it started out, but as the story progressed, it didn't really have much conflict? Just how great he is, and how perfect they are together. The saccharin holiday family events towards the end of the story were maybe too much for my taste.
I have literally never quit reading a book without finishing it but WOW. This was truly horrible. I cannot believe this book has so many 5 star reviews. I just have two words for you: Little Girl.
