Gods, what is my life like? I was sobbing in tears after reading this and knew that I had to write a review. The videos killed me. Samantha Bee, I loved it, and please, write more like this. I'm serious. This was such a scary read because it has a lot of triggers, but I'm still alive. Just, it is sad but so beautifully written. So give it a try. I hope you won't regret it. if I could rate it higher than 5 then I would.

23 year old Vienna Harwood is off for two weeks to attend her best friends wedding. Leaving behind loved ones for the first time in 4 years. However, before the celebration can even begin, her life is flipped upside down. Leading her into the presence of Dr. Novack.
Dr. Liam Novack is ready to go home after a long day at the hospital. But before that can even happen, he is rushed off his feet by a big accident causing him to go straight back into doctor mode. It isn’t until the last patient arrives that he can’t help but feel something there, that doesn’t want or allow him to leave her. But what and why?
The Kiss of Goodbye focuses on Vienna and Liam telling the story through their perspectives. With a couple of chapters from Jake and Ryann’s perspective too.
Throughout the story we learn about Vienna’s life past and present. As well as what she is currently going through, while being in the hospital struggling to hold on in regards to the state she is in.
As for Liam, we see him start to build on to the connection he feels with his patient Vienna (even though he knows it’s wrong), that has him constantly wanting to see her and be around her.
I liked that despite everything Vienna was going through, she always tried to keep on a brave face by trying to stay strong and not break down. Despite knowing what her circumstances was leading her to. And how she always seemed to bring a light to all those around her, when it came to the doctors and nurses who would either attend to her or just to visit her. But at the same time she was stubborn as heck with not wanting to listen or do what was right of her at times when needed to.
With Liam, I liked that he always tried to make sure that Vienna was doing okay and comfortable. Even as far as doing things for her to cheer her up and get her mind off of her current state. Plus comforting her when she was feeling low.
However, with that said I did have some issues with small faults, when it came to keeping to the consistency of certain things being said, done or mentioned not always being followed through.
The main being, it is mentioned (many times) because of the severity of Vienna’s injuries from the accident, she doesn’t have much motion use when it comes to her body. The fact that she is unable to feed herself or even move her head being an example. Since it causes her too much pain, in doing so.
However that seems to be all forgotten at times given some of the things she is shown as able to do, which just left me confused. Especially because awhile after, the injuries severity and pain from trying to apply any tasks at hand would be reiterated about.
Also, at times I felt like if it wasn’t for the mentioning of being in a hospital, Vienna’s injuries and the monitors surrounding her. I wouldn’t have thought the setting for the story is in a hospital.
Mostly because though there were times the author would mention a fair things here and there using medical jargon. However a majority of the times it was covered over. Or even completely cut out altogether, with medical examinations after certain medical procedures not being followed through and/or mentioned.
I get that there doesn’t always have to be a need for medical procedure details being mentioned, or constantly using medical jargon at every turn throughout. Mainly since the author may not be an expert in the medical field. But it just felt like if you are going to write a story with a certain profession, it’s best to research throughly to make sure you keep the consistency with the knowledge of the correct jargon for the procedures throughout. Instead of constantly walking over without addressing it fully at certain times and points, by focusing on other things.
With all that said, I do still want to read the next part to the series, just because I do wonder how the second book will play out given the ending.
Overall, The Kiss of Goodbye was still a decent story filled with sweet moments alongside a lot of sadness, heartache and heartbreak.

When I was in middle school, I fell into romance novels. Granted, they were pretty tame compared to what I now read as an adult. However, I will never forget the first time that I read certain heartbreaking romance novels (you know the ones, by the big guns with the large publishing houses).
I've been chasing that feeling ever since. Nothing has quite come close to the gut-wrenching, tear-jerking feeling that I first got when I read the books by the authors above.
Until... The Kiss Of Goodbye by Samantha Bee hit my kindle.
This book... guys. We STAN a self-published author who works hard and writes with a passion that is getting harder and harder to find in the world of authors who have agents and massive publishing contracts... Honestly, I think my heart is still in my stomach, and my stomach is at my damn feet. This book was THAT good!
A love story for the ages. A compelling story of a strong and vibrant young woman who has to make some tough decisions - who makes preparations to leave everything and everyone she knows behind.
A strong male character (who happens to be a doctor... hello!) who feels an unexplainable pull to a patient that he desperately needs to save so he can explore his feelings on a deeper level. They form a connection that, while should be considered cheesy, is really a genuine, and free-spirited bond.
Of course, there's some drama and a lot of *ahem* tension involved as well. *wink*
There is nothing I didn't like about this novel. Samantha Bee took the reigns in her capable hands and said, "Watch me bring Romance into 2021 with a BANG!"
.... and she did.
Read it - because trust me... you won't want to miss this rollercoaster ride!

I should have taken Samantha’s warning seriously because this book broke me. I can’t tell you the amount of tissues I went through. My coworkers had to keep asking if I was okay. I learned reading this in public wasn’t a good idea pretty quick. But despite the tears and heartache I absolutely loved this book.
This story is about Vienna and Liam. Vienna is leaving to go to a friend’s wedding when her plans are derailed. She ends up in the ICU with life threatening injuries. During her fight to stay alive she meets Dr. Liam Novack. He along with other doctors and nurses feel a pull toward Vienna and do everything they can to bring her comfort and ease her pain. Liam and Vienna form a special bond though and start to have feelings that are more than a doctor and patient should.
Both these characters have had hard lives in completely different ways. But they are able to understand each other. Liam helps Vienna make goodbye videos for her family and he starts to learn more about her. He is able to give her someone to lean on and she gives him the spark he had when he first started being a doctor. Their relationship was such a beautifully tragic thing. Even with the knowledge that Vienna may not survive they can’t fight how they feel about each other.
The only thing I wished was different was the video order. I wish it was after each chapter they were mentioned in. It kinda got a bit confusing reading reading video #7 when they just recorded video #2 in the current chapter. Other than that this book was an emotionally heart-wrenching gem. I can’t wait for the second book and am still holding onto hope of a happy ending.

This book emotionally wrecked me. I don't think I have ever read a book that has made me cry quite like this one.
This is the third book from Samantha Bee, and is entirely different from A World of Chaos (if you haven't read those, go read them!). One thing I love about her writing is the incredible insight, and thoughtful characters that you are getting. I feel like it speaks to my very heart, and leaves chills.
The Kiss of Goodbye starts with such a horrible tragedy, and is just an emotional ride from there. As Vienna struggles to recover, she faces more struggles than just healing her body. It leaves an opportunity to reflect on the things in her life, and the people that are the most important to her. Vienna was a character I could really relate to, and reading her thoughts about the regrets and events of her life was so moving.
The story does have multiple POV, with more than just the main characters, which I loved. I love seeing and getting into the mind of other characters that may not be the primary focus, but remain a pivotal part of the story.

We've all done it haven't we? Thought about what would happen if something were to happen to us. If we didn't have a lot of time left & had time to say goodbye to our loved ones what would we want to say and who we would want to say it too?

Let me start with if you are NOT new to Samantha Bee then you need to know this book is NOTHING like her other books that are in her Steel Roses series! This book is sweet and sex-less but so worth it! She came in with the biggest emotional guns you have ever seen blazing and giving ZERO cares (not the word I would use but I am censored)! You will be crushed, given hope, heartbroken, given hope, heart ripped out, you guessed it given hope, heart set TF on fire, hope, heart stomped on, ope there is that hope again BUT *BAM* heart ASHES!!!! That is right she had TF AUDICATY to live us hanging! There are so many routes Samantha could end up taking to get us to the conclusion of these beautiful characters, so this reader will be (not so) patiently waiting book two in this duet. Just clear your calendars because the SUPER SAD book hangover you will have will require you sometime to just allow yourself to be DRAMATIC AF. OH! And bring plenty of tissues while making sure you are well hydrated because the number of tears that will escape WILL most DEFINTLEY dehydrate you. NOW JUST GO READ IT I PROMISE YOU WILL LOVE IT!!

I’m so glad I discovered this new author because I’ve absolutely loved everything of Samantha’s I’ve read so far. Kiss of Goodbye is very different from her other series, and Sam shows us her writing chops by taking us on a deeply emotional journey in this book.
Vienna, a young Mom, is fighting for her life after a horrific car accident leaves her in critical condition. She forms a deep connection with her doctor, Liam, who helps grant what could be her final wishes in making goodbye videos for all of her loved ones.
I am a sucker for a good romance and fell in love with Liam and Vienna. Their bond is strong yet fragile at the same time, but neither of them fights the pull as they “fall in” to one another. We learn a lot about Vienna as a character, some of her past, and her current relationships with her family and her ex, Jake.
This book was really beautiful and I’m struggling big time with that cliffhanger. Looking forward to more from these characters and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Dam tears
Nope I can't even begin to put into words on how much I broke down reading this book, I mean from the accident to the end i was an emotional wreck, I can't even bare to go downstairs for dinner due to the fact I look like a angry red eyed panda, this was soooo beautiful and omg you actually wrote this, how, I would off cried myself to death even putting words to paper.
Not gonna mention the cliffhanger cause I'm praying Vienna survives cause she bloody needs to cause if she don't then I'm not gonna be happy, I love Liam and I hope if Vienna doesn't make it that it doesn't break him too much omg this book is worthy of much more than 5 stars.
This needs like an award for the most emotional story ever or something

Heartbreakingly Beautiful
I’m speechless, this book was beautiful. I randomly stumbled upon this author as I was browsing the kindle unlimited library. Little did I know the emotional impact this story would have on me. It was a journey into a woman whose mere presence touches those she encounters as she fights for her life. As she prepares for the what if’s we peek into those who have shaped who she is. Vienna was so relatable and her story resonated with me. I’m anxiously awaiting the conclusion.

Hands down one of my favorite books of 2021!
Omg!! I could just scream at that darn ending!
This book is so unique. It’s so heartfelt and it simply destroys your soul. I cried so much and it was so beautiful. I feel like I’ve been in these characters shoes. I know the pain of the unknown and feelings of being abandoned by someone who passed away. This really hit home and it was so perfectly written. Hands down one of my favorite books of 2021!

This one definitely pulls at your heart strings. I love how the author explains the situations as if we were there. I was left on the edge all book to see what was going to happen. Definitely recommend to others.

It's ok, just got something in my eye, not. I have been holding on and now I'm weeping like I dont know what. This story just touches me and with such understated acts of pure love. For Vi and Liam, Colton and Cat this is magically moving. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Okay this is your warning grab a box of tissue and be alone. This duet is about the one moment can change anything. Vienna is a serious car crash. Liam who is her doctor knows if he loses her theis will become his one. This book was emotional and written with care. I can't wait for the second book after we get left off with the unknown state of things.
