I was riding high as a first round draft pick for the New York Huskies. To celebrate, I decided to stop by my hometown, Kismet Cove, for their annual singles week before reporting to training camp.
I was only looking for a little fun but found more than I expected. Addison Kandris. I tortured her in high school. I had been a cocky bully and she had been an easy target. And judging by the scowl on her face, she hasn't forgotten. Can't say I blame her. I wasn't a good guy back then.
But I'm not that guy anymore.
We might have hated one another at first sight but I'm older and so much wiser. I'll learn the plays, perfect the catch and win the girl. Game on.
I'm gonna make Addison fall in love with me at second sight.

I'm a self proclaimed book addict. It's sad but true. I want ALL THE WORDS! My love of words led me to blogging and blogging led me to this new and most awesome adventure as an author. What a ride this will be!
I'm a southern girl and mom to two amazing little dudes with a strong addiction to Godzilla and I’m wife to a wonderful man whose undying support has made this writing journey possible. Over the years I have amassed a collection of Godzilla toys, dinosaurs, LEGO pieces and blocks in all shapes and colors. Not fun to step on in the middle of the night. Romance novels have been my thing since my aunt put a Harlequin in my hand when I was ten. From all things old school to romance that has made me swoon, this has been on crazy adventure.
I don’t believe I ever read one of C.G. Burnette books. This was so good and very touching. I cried at the end. We all deserve to have a second chance. Cort dropped the ball the first time but he refused to loose Addison again. Great read. I hope the is a second part to their love story.
Cort realizes as his life is moving forward at the end of college the one thing is missing is his first love Addi. He broke her heart when they left for different colleges but when he heads home and sees her again he goes all in for a second chance to win her heart in this sweet and emotional tale.
This is a great short read second chance tale. Loved this sweet couple and I was rooting for them. Not sure I liked the peripheral characters as much. Really good read!
I'm not going to rate 'Second Sight' by C.G. Burnette as I thought it was going to be about someone with second sight. I read it anyway. Wish I hadn't. It was a quick read ... ok I skimmed very quickly because I have a touch of ocd where I have to finish a book if I start it. . . . . . MAJOR SPOILERS ... DO NOT READ ... . . . . .
It's about a football player who ditched his high school love (no details), spent 4 years in different colleges where he had a great time screwing around (no details) while she slept with 1 guy twice (book drama - unlike his man whoring), they meet up and sleep together that day. Damn it goes on and on about him hurting her and her pain but she skips their lunch date and goes straight to his hotel for sex - he had conveniently booked and checked into a local hotel in their home town + he had condoms ...
I know it's a novella but there's no character development except that everything he does is fine because he LOVES her and always has - even when he screwed around for 4 years!!! And she's a total doormat pushover but that's alright because she LOVES him and always has. And if he loves her SO MUCH why did it take him so many years 'to put a ring on it'? No, no, no ... just NO.

Cortland knew and loved Addison in school, but he broke her heart and left her behind for college football. When he stops by his hometown's Single's Week event on the way to NFL training camp, he sees her and sets his goal of making her love him again. She's spent the last 4 years lovin' and missing him, but her heart never got over him. She just isn't sure she can trust him again. Plus, the guy from college doesn't want to let her go. Will they get their second chance or will she choose the guy she doesn't love but that loves her?
Small town, second chance...what more do you need.
This one gave me all the feels. First read by this author, most definitely going to read more. Not sure if it was just an emotional day, but had tears in my eyes when I was finishing. A great read and can't wait to read more by C.G. Burnette.
If I were her, I wouldn’t be able to stare at myself in the mirror without utter disgust filling me. This man broke your heart and you just rolled over and played the village idiot. She made me so fucking angry, I couldn’t barely get through it. He was just a waste of space.
