5 Star reviews of Playing Peyton (Alaska Blizzard #9) by Kat Mizera
Having read numerous books in the Alaska Blizzard series I was excited to read Playing Peyton which is Ryder Kingston and Peyton Legori’s story. This is a friends to lovers story and one that hooked me from the first chapter. It was a fabulous addition to what has become one of my favourite hockey series. A friend of her brothers, Ryder comes to the rescue of Peyton when her ex throws her out. Although she has sworn off hockey players, lines can and do get crossed. All it takes is one night, a fleeting decision, that can and does changes a person’s life forever and that is what happens for Ryder and Peyton. It was so wonderful being back in Alaska with the members of the Blizzard hockey team and I loved that we got to catch up on some familiar faces ad see what they are up too. However as their friendship develops complications arise that neither saw coming. What will happen when feelings become involved? Will circumstances bring them together or rip them apart? One click and find out.
Kat Mizera scores with PLAYING PEYTON (Alaska Blizzard #9). Professional hockey player Ryder Kingston has had a crush on Peyton Legori for a couple of years. Peyton is the sister of Donovan Legori (TENDING TARA, Alaska Bizzard #7). Ryder was one of the guys who helped rescue Peyton when her Ex, Troy, locked her out of her apartment in Chicago in a previous novel. They had a one-night-stand that same day. Now nine months later, Ryder discovers that Peyton is in labor. Doing the math, he knows he must speak to her and confess to Donovan. Meanwhile, Peyton is uncertain if the father is Troy or Ryder.
PLAYING PEYTON is a heartfelt and entertaining read. I love the characters. They are authentic and grow throughout the story. Peyton faces a lot of stressful circumstances and undergoes a lot of change. Ryder steps up. He is thoughtful and supportive. The two have amazing chemistry. Things are not easy, especially since Peyton is in Chicago and Ryder is in Anchorage.
I enjoyed that players who have been traded were included in this story. PLAYING PEYTON was a perfect addition to the Alaska Blizzard series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This one was interesting in how it started and how Ryder reacted to the info he found out. I liked that Ryder took advantage of the situation to get to know Peyton better, to show her he was worth taking a chance on. Sure things were hard, she was in Chicago, he was in Alaska and then there was the drama with Peyton's ex. I really fell for Ryder when he gave the ex a deal he couldn't refuse and one that cleared the path for him and Peyton to finally be together.
Playing Peyton is Ryder Kingston and Peyton Legori’s friends to lovers/second chance romance, it’s book 9 in the Alaska Blizzard Series but I believe it can certainly be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone. I was captivated and drawn in from the first few pages and there was no putting down until I had read the final words, I loved everything about this entertaining yet at times emotional story. Peyton was determined never to fall for a hockey player, that ship sailed many years ago but when her jerk of a boyfriend throws her out she finds a night of comfort with her brother’s friend Ryder and who knew that night was going to change both their lives….. Ryder loves his life, he plays hockey for a living, lives the life of a playboy and the only responsibility he has is for his Bernese Mountain dog, Coco. But when he overheard his best friend talking to his mum on the phone he realises his life is about to change. Could there be someone out there that’s about to become his number one priority. What follows is a couple forging a friendship but fate has other ideas and their world is turned on it’s head so can Ryder and Peyton become stronger together and what happens when feelings come into play. Guess you are going to need to read the book to find that out. I love my visits to Alaska, I love catching up with the Blizzard team and their families & friends and Playing Peyton is a wonderful addition to one of my favourite series. This book ticked all my boxes, I fell hard and fast for Ryder I adored Peyton but it was the bond they formed as Ryder supported her that took this book to another level, add in some familiar faces and you get the perfect story to end the series with. Looking forward to what’s coming next in the world of hockey by the very talented Kat Mizera.
Ryder and a few of his Blizzard teammates come to Peyton's rescue when her creep of a boyfriend kicks her out of their Chicago apartment. Ryder and Peyton spend a passionate night together that will change their lives forever. Ryder is shocked to learn Peyton is giving birth, and he could be the father. To Ryder's shock, he wants to be the father of Peyton's child. Ryder has crushed Peyton since he met her, but Peyton has always had a boyfriend. Ryder is hoping this is his in, and he and Peyton can have a future together. Peyton is ashamed that her choices have led her to be a single mother who doesn't know who the father of her child is. Peyton wants Ryder to be Stella's father but knows he will disappear from her life if he isn't. What will Peyton's ex do when he learns he is Stella's father? Will Peyton push Ryder away when she learns Ryder isn't Stella's father? Can Ryder convince Peyton that he is there for her no matter what? How will Peyton react when a court hearing doesn't go her way? What will Ryder do to get Peyton's ex out of her and Stella's life forever? Can Ryder convince Peyton he loves her, and his future is her and Stella? I absolutely loved Playing Peyton. Playing Peyton was a fantastic way to end the Alaska Blizzard series. Loved how characters in the previous books help Ryder and Peyton with love and support along their journey to their happily ever after. I would highly recommend getting Playing Peyton by Kat Mizera. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Ryder has had a crush on Peyton for years, but after a one night stand after he helped rescue her from an abusive ex, she blew him off. But a chance meeting 9 months later brings back what could be a shocking revelation and gives them a chance to reconnect, if Ryder can convince Peyton to give him a chance.
But fate can be fickle and isn’t always kind, and a long distance relationship is really hard. Can Ryder prove he is in it for the long haul and can Peyton move past her prior bad relationships to truly give Ryde the chance he deserves?
Playing Peyton was the final book in the Alaska Blizzard series, and Kat Mizera sent the team off in style! Peyton has had one heck of a year, and is still working to find her own footing amidst change after change and challenge after challenge. Ryder was the unexpected relationship she didn’t think could possibly happen, but now that there is a chance, she wants it more than anything.
I loved that Ryder was immediately all in and never wavered no matter how hard things got. He was patient and understanding and the best thing that could happen to Peyton. Honestly, I adored that the entire Blizzard family rallied around him and Peyton making her feel welcome.
This friends to lovers romance was filled with drama, but had all the feels and I loved how much it focused on the relationships. It was a fabulous send off to the series! 4 stars!
This is the last book in this series and I am going to miss it. Each book can stand alone, however they are interconnected and we meet both Peyton and Ryder in previous books, as Peyton is related to a player and Ryder is a current player on the hockey team. In this book we also a lot of previous characters from the series involved in this story. Some people might feel lost as there is a lot of different characters from the series and so while it can stand alone I do suggest you read the other books first.
This book opens up on the night that Peyton is giving birth to her child. In a previous book she had broken up with her ex who was abusive and since her brother was a hockey player he asked his friends to help get her stuff, one of those players were Ryder. Ryder has wanted Peyton for years so when she was single he grabbed one night with her. That night was 9 months before and so Ryder has so many questions....
This is a bit of a whose the baby daddy storyline? But its also about a man who just wants Peyton. He is totally into her but can she let her walls down and let him in?
This was a wonderful ending to a series that I have loved. It was a suspenseful story as we get to find out who is the baby daddy to Peyton's child while we also get to see Ryder and Peyton have a long distance relationship as they get to know each other.
I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book had me hooked from the first page. Ryder and Peyton had always been attracted to each other, but she had a boyfriend and was adamant that she wasn't going to date a hockey player. One night changes everything and he finally gets a chance to prove to her that they could be great together. From the second he finds out that he might be Peyton's baby's dad, he really stepped up. Peyton wasn't trying to keep anything from Ryder, she just didn't more if he was the dad. She hoped he was because her ex wasn't a nice man. Once Ryder started spending time with Peyton and Stella she started wanting things she never imagined. He was great with Stella and so sweet to Peyton. Whether a long distance relationship could work remains to be seen. She is also uncertain if she should pursue anything because she wasn't sure if he was with her because of the baby (if he is her dad) or if she was selfish (if he wasn't her dad). There is one heavy undercurrent of her previous relationship that is heartbreaking. I wish his relationship with his family would have been resolved a little more. I love this series and this book was no exception. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
It is so sad to see when something so good comes to an end and that is the feeling you will have when you get to the last line of the last page of Playing Peyton. It is the 10th book in the Alaska Blizzard series and it has been a wonderful series that culminates with the final story of NHL hockey player and player at large, Ryder Kingston, and new single mom and former teammate's sister, Peyton Legori.
Ryder has had his feelings for Peyton smoldering on a back burner for years until one night where circumstances intervene, passions ignite and both their lives results in one unexpected event that is difficult to return to the way they were. As for Peyton, life was complicated before, leaving a horrible and damaging relationship and then one night resulting in a new baby and new demands.
Ryder is patient, sweet and his devotion shines through even when Peyton stops him at every turn. Their journey together is endearing, sweet, emotional and filled with some sizzling moments. It is also inspiring to see the lengths Ryder will go to protect Peyton and Stella.
This might have been the last in this series but it is one amazing read that should not be missed!
This is the first I've read in this series, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book and these characters. Ryder and Peyton's story played with my heartstrings, had me rooting for Ryder in his quest to win the girl that has plagued his mind from their only encounter, who just happens to be his friend and former teammates sister. Long distance isn't the only wrench in that quest. Add in a vindictive ex, family relocation, and a boss that changes his tune like a jukebox, and these two just can't seem to catch a break. When the chips are stacked against them and the situation seems unyielding, a plan starts to form for Ryder. With the help from an unexpected source, things start falling into place. I loved the support (and banter) between Ryder and his teammates and how the group has opened up to Peyton as well, it's something that she's never really had and realizes just how great it would be if it could be permanent. Will they find their forever, or are the obstacles too big to overcome?
Fantastic read with great characters to love, especially Stella. Ryder and Peyton were a couple to love. They had their hardships but they managed to work through them and finally get the HEA they deserved. The one all 3 of them deserved. I do have to admit there were many times I wanted to shake Peyton and knock some serious sense into her. It was frustrating because her attitude made it seem like single mothers have never overcome struggles that involve joint custody and men they despise. But I gave her a small bit of credit considering she had been in an abusive relationship for so long. Ryder was an amazing boyfriend with a ton of patience and understanding. I couldn’t help but love him from the very beginning. The way he took care of Peyton emotionally and physically was so swoon worthy! I will definitely miss Ryder, Peyton, and Stella.
It was great catching up with past couples. It's part of the reason I love a great series, we always get a glimpse at our past favorites.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
Peyton and Ryder are a awesome couple. I love that we get to read their story after it was hinted at in a previous story. Ryder is a character that we got to see a lot of in previous books and always seemed like a really awesome friend to everyone. His devotion and love for Cocco gives readers a few of just how much love he has to give. While he is like any other male Ryder always seems to show a loyalty that is different. Peyton shows just how strong of a women that she is. She is coming off a horrible situation that she constantly beats herself up about. Yet, through out the story she starts to realize just how strong she is and that she can do things on her own. She also realizes that asking for help or having people there that truly support you is not being weak. Watching Ryder show her that he is there for her as a friend then as more is a great read. It is awesome how he supports her and allows her to stand on her own feet. Peyton and Ryder growing as a couple even after all that is thrown at them is a great story.
This is the latest book in the Alaska Blizzard series and can be read as a standalone, although with the number of characters it may be a bit confusing to readers new to the series. I really enjoyed this book more than I expected. I often find the addition of a point of drama can be more jarring to my enjoyment rather than adding to it, but that was not the case with Playing Peyton. There was great interaction between the characters and some moments that had the potential to be so real-world that it was hard not to get my emotions involved. I loved that things didn't run smoothly, in either the relationship between Ryder and Peyton or Peyton and the other people in her life. There was a part in the story though, that Peyton's boss goes from supportive to not-supportive and I kept expecting there to be a more significant reason, instead of just a change of mind. Ignore the fact that Ryder's a superstar ice hockey player, and this story could easily play out in any number of households.
I utterly adored this couple! PLAYING PEYTON is Kat Mizera's tenth book in the Alaska Blizzard series and it just keeps getting better and better. A big discovery led to Ryder opening up his heart and falling hard for former teammate Donovan's sister Peyton and I couldn't have loved their story more. Heartfelt and rewarding!
Ryder is a sweetheart and quick to step in when he thinks he's needed, no matter what he might have to sacrifice in order to put himself out there. I loved seeing his teammates and core team support system stepping in anytime he needed a nudge.
Peyton is overcoming the poor life choices she made and starting to shine now that she's out from under the stigma of a selfish boyfriend.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who loves a hockey romance with a whole lot of heart. The teammates love each other and their women hard and it's super satisfying to see the loyalty and family spirit.
Playing Peyton, book nine in the Alaska Blizzard series, is a sweet, swoon worthy hockey romance with wonderful characters and a storyline that will give you all the feels. Ryder Kingston slept with Donovan’s sister, Peyton while the team was in Chicago for a game nine months earlier and now that one night changed both of their lives forever. Ryder is such a kind hearted, stand up guy. So when he finds out that he may be the father to Peyton’s new born daughter, he steps up to the plate and embraces fatherhood even though he may not actually be the father. He also has the opportunity to finally have the woman that he has crushed on and that makes him do whatever he needs to to win over her heart. Peyton has been hurt in the past but her new baby girl is opening up her heart to so many new possibilities. She just needs to deal with her ex in order to find her happily ever after with Ryder.
Ryder has been attracted to Peyton for years, but she was in a relationship. Then Peyton’s brother, a fellow hockey player, asks for help to move Peyton away from her abusive boyfriend. Things get a little more intimate than expected, and then Peyton is gone. There is no way she wants to be involved with a hockey player.
When Ryder runs into Peyton’s brother and discovers she is going to have a baby, he counts back 9 months and suddenly everything changes. What I liked the most was how Ryder became so supportive of Peyton, not knowing whether or not he was the father. And the friendship that grew between the two, and his feelings for her baby, which have nothing to do with whether or not he is the biological father. This story was just so sweet, and there were so many surprises. It really kept the story irresistible and hard to put down.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
A bittersweet read for me as this is the last book in the Alaska Blizzard series. I love that is #9 as that was my husband's jersey number back when he played hockey and why I love hockey so much.
In this book, Peyton is at the end of her rope so to speak. She is on her own and with someone depending on her life has become so much more than she can handle. She turns to her brother and his teammates for help. Little does she know it may mean more than just some muscle to move some boxes. Ryder is a player both on and off the ice. He wasn't looking for love or responsibility yet other to get the puck into the net. When he helps his friend's sister, Peyton, he may be signing up for more than he has ever bargained for. Are you ready for a ride into long distance love affair, friends to lovers, secret emotional bonds, surprise daddy romance? You will catch glimpses of characters from throughout the series - kind of a tearful last look!
After her relationship with her boyfriend ended and Peyton finds herself homeless it is Ryder that comes to her rescue. They spend a steamy evening together and she knows that one night is all they would have as he has two strikes against her being that he is her brother’s teammate and friends and that he is a hockey player.
Ryder has a career he loves, great friends, his loyal dog and accepted that one night with Peyton is all they would have. It will be months after their night together before he sees her again and once he does he is determined to show her that he is a man she count on not only in the present but the future as well.
Although Peyton and Ryder had a few challenges to overcome with the support of the friends and family as well as each other they prove that their love is strong enough to overcome anything.
I will definitely miss the Alaska Blizzard! As the last in the series Ryder, Peyton and of course Stella will stay with me for a while.
Ryder and Peyton sort of begin on the hills of a bad breakup for Peyton. Peyton is determined that she will not date a hockey player and a teammate of her brother's so after their one night, they go their separate ways. Ryder doesn't know that one night will change his life.
Ryder and Peyton have a few challenges they will need to overcome on their road if they want to be together. Do they have what it takes but more importantly, do they want to have a future together?
I loved watching Ryder and Peyton (and Stella) on their journey to forever. It was also wonderful to see my favorite Blizzard players and their significant others again. The Blizzard are indeed a family!

I loved Playing Peyton so much. This is a falling for your friend's sister romance that you are just going to love. Ryder is so sweet, has a gentle way about him and can get dirty. He will have you fanning yourself just a little with his ways. Peyton is a little gun-shy single mom who is a little stubborn. You feel the sweet chemistry between Peyton and Ryder early on. I love how patient Ryder is when it comes to breaking down Peytons walls. He is so sweet when it comes to little Stella that will just melt your heart so. Peyton and Ryder are so hot together as they try to figure out how to make things work juggling everything. I loved every moment of this one and could not put it down. Peyton and Ryder have to be one of my favorite Alaska Blizzard couples. Go one click this one today.
Clear your schedule because you are not going to be able to put this one down until you reach the end! Ryder and Peyton will have readers crying, swooning and yelling at their tablets as they tag along on this sweet and sexy journey. It is impossible to not feel the passion and affection that oozes out of Ryder. His feelings for Peyton jump off the page. His devotion to her and to his desire to have her by his side permanently is any woman’s dream come true. A perfect way for the last Blizzard player in the series to find his happily ever after. As usual Kat Mizera has the mix for just the right amount of drama, laughs, love and desire to keep readers on the edge of their seats as they are engrossed in every scene.
Ryder met Peyton when her brother, Donovan was his teammate on the Blizzard.. Back then she had a boyfriend but Ryder could tell it wasn't anything serious and so his crush began. When Peyton ends up moving out Ryder helps her move.
Now Ryder finds out Peyton is having a baby and does some quick math in his head and realizes there is a chance he could be the father even though it was only one night. He knows he needs to talk to Peyton but Donovan tells him to give it some time. Ryder waits a bit and reaches out and they embark on a journey of finding out if there could be something between them.
Things get rough for them but will love win?
Nice lead up to the new series in Florida and nice to see some Sidewinders mentioned. Good way to end the Blizzard.
Another great book in this series. We've gotten to know these two in previous books. First impressions of Peyton weren't great before, but we get to truly know her. My heart goes out to her. She finds herself in a very stressful situation and nasty scum of a guy is at the center of it all. Lucky for her she also has an awesome guy in her corner. Ryder, man is that man going to make you swoon. A guy who treats babies and animals like he does is sure to win anyone's heart, but throw in how he treats Peyton there is no chance of not losing your heart. I also loved catching up with some of my favorite characters enjoying their HEAs. It was hard to put this one down. I needed to know what was going to happen next for these two.
Alaska Blizzard player Ryder Kingston couldn’t get Peyton Legori out if his mind but finding out that she was having a baby and he might be the father changed everything for him with having a chance with her. But first he had to help Peyton with her new baby and just maybe admit he was in love with her with Stella as a bonus.
Playing Peyton is the perfect end to the Alaska Blizzard series because they grow together as a family with the team and now baby Stella brings the team full circle back together.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the tenth and last book in this phenomenal series and is Ryder and Peyton’s story. Ryder is the best friend of Peyton’s brother, and he has had a crush on her for years. When Peyton is kicked out by her ex, it is Ryder that comes to her aid. Peyton is sworn off hockey players, and she is trying to overcome some questionable choices. Can these two move on from friends / lovers? This is a beautifully written heartfelt story, which is filled with drama, emotions, passion, tension, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Payton just gave birth to her baby. The problem is she doesn’t know who the father is. Is it his abusive ex- boyfriend or her one night stand? Ryder is a professional hockey player for the Alaska blizzards. His happily single and the only love in his life is his dog. He just heard the shocking news that he may be a father. Ryder has had a crush on Peyton for years but she swore off hockey players a long time ago. Will the baby give Ryder a chance to get close to her? I love the story. Things turned unexpectedly different than what I expected but I loved the story so much. Once I started reading I couldn’t stop.
I really loved this book and couldn’t stop until I finished it. Loved how Ryder has always crushed on Peyton. It’s a great second chance at love. I felt for her. She’s no longer in an abusive relationship and I love how good Ryder is to her. Did stay on edge wondering if her ex will come around again. Loved feeling their emotions and getting updates on other characters. Love the grand gesture Ryder does towards the end and loved their happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.
Playing Peyton is book nine in the Alaska Blizzard and follows Ryder Kingston and Peyton Legori’s journey. Ryder, who is a friend of Peyton’s brother, comes to her aid when her ex throws her out. She finds a night of comfort in his arms and it’s a night that changes their lives forever. I absolutely adored Ryder, I loved how patient he was, and I was rooting for him to win the girl! I loved every single page of this one and couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend this book and the complete series.
