i don’t get the hype. my expectations were already low since this is a “wattpad” story but i was disappointed nonetheless. reading this book is a COMPLETE waste of time.

first, the prologue (the part where the author should attract readers) isn’t exciting nor nakakakilig that im already close to dropping it on the first chapter.
second, the plot is cliché and predictable, and there are many uninteresting and unnecessary scenes. too many political stuffs mentioned out of nowhere.
third, the protagonist is bland, too perfect. there’s like nothing that could make you fall in love and be drawn to the story or even the protagonist. i’ve read the book till the end and still didn’t feel attached to the characters.

the only positive comment i could give is i think the dogs are cute, that’s it.

OoThe author's narration of this story was very bland, boring, and had no thrills at all! It was very straightforward to the point that it does not make its audience think critically and it's like dictating it's the audience what to feel and what to choose without thinking about others' views and opinions. Writing should allow its audience to have choices and the right to think on their own. Not because you stand on this certain issue, everyone should too. Let them have the right to choose and think on their own without making them guilty because their stand was not aligned with yours as I said again.

The book's title! What's the connection of this book to its plot? The Avenues of the Diamond, okay? What is the meaning and why is the title of this book?

The character's personalities were very inconsistent and Sam's friend acts very immaturely even though they are in their 30s. Sam's personality was very inconsistent! In the first book, she acts very wild, and in this story, she acted very sweet, caring, and soft which made me confused.

The lines, for goodness sake! The author of this book thinks she did something every time she adds unnecessary lines randomly even though it's not needed. The way this Clyden dude always trying so hard to insert his hatred towards our government like dude? We get it! You hate our government and we all do but please! Go make a move on this cringe-ass girl to make your boring book move forward rather than spitting these irrelevant sentences that don't have connections to what's currently happening.

Plotholes! I can't with this book! It has so many plot holes that it made me despise it so much and made me think about what will happen to it. This book has more plot holes than our country's dilemmas.

The cliffhangers never gave anything to the story. It was just there to make the story exciting but apparently, it ruined the book.

The bad characterization and representation towards lgbtia and mental health in this book was not tackled enough and it looked like kt was just a decoration for reader to say that it is about mental health and lgbtia+

Clyden was not also and will never be the standard for me!

There's nothing special in this book. It was just a pure mediocre and cringe story. It was just overhyped on different social media platforms because this book contains pop culture and famous universities.

This story doesn't let me to self reflect but then it already dictates me what should I feel through the certain topic in the story. I don't like how the author romanticized naomi's death. What naomi did is not heroic, it shouldn't be romanticized! The author did not tackle well about the suicide and depression, it scares me bec most of her readers are teenager. Also the poor representation of haze sexuality. I know that haze is a bi but then bec of the poor representation they suddenly resort it to bl and the fact the author sexualized it also. Clyden character was badly written. This was badly written and half-assed book. I hate how it was narrates. I was expecting more sa story na to kasi pang ilan na niyang story na pub ito but then parehas lang sa trie. I don't get the hype of this story.

2 stars | The story isn't connected to the title itself. Like, what was this for? Aesthetic purposes? Because it sounds cool? Do better, Gwynette.

It was below mediocre, istg. The conflict was... meh. The storyline is boring. The characters are well-written but, inconsistent.

Naomi's death was... idk. Was it necessary to build up the lead woman's character? The dialogue between the characters was poorly written. Predictable scenes. No essence of universities.

Nabigo sa istilo ng pagsulat? Oo.

Disappointed by the writing style? Yes.

'Avenues of the Diamond' is the author's fourth book, so I expected a lot from this. I LOVED the writing style of Gwy in her 1st to 3rd book. However, in this 4th one, it seemed to be flat. The 3 University series book took me a day to finish, while this took me four days because I got a little bored.

It survived 3.75 stars because I like Sam's character. I connect with her. The selflessness. How Sam tends to overthink every actions and word to say because everyone has their own problems that we don't know of. She doesn't ask for help because of that, and it hurts me how much I connect with her; when she was always there for others but refused to give those who care about her to help her. Clyden was right when he said that asking for help shouldn't be something to be embarrassed about (I'm really trying to stop my tears for a certain character). This book somehow survived three stars because of what you can learn or gain from reading this.

I also love the bisexual representation here! I wish the character have a story made by the author.

I finally finished AOTD. I don't know what happened to me.

Anyway... grabe. Sam and Cy. I don't even know what to say. I salute your sense of maturity and disposition in life. As to the story, gusto ko yung may natatackle ditong societal issues, politics at mental health awareness. Out of all the four univ stories so far, ito at CITW ang nakapagpadama ng sobrang kirot sa puso ko. *no spoilers* hehehe

'Yan na muna siguro. :)

I would be one of the few to actually rate this 5 stars given na I actually enjoy a little hint of political awareness from the author lalo na’t this story was kind of hinting a lot of background happenings in our country pero ayun, going back, the arranged marriage trope would’ve been an obvious sign for me to say that this would just be those typical love stories wherein they’d first start hating each other but given the circumstances where they have to deal with each other for a while to get the benefits they were promised with, they’ll slowly fall for one another AND I AM RIGHT! It’s just, this story in particular was more than just that. A lot of narratives were pushed in the story to risk how the readers may react to what the author writes but, that didn’t stop me till the end. It made me intrigued… how those two characters were able to find common ground in topics they choose to react differently but with the same purpose.

Samantha’s character was way too kind that I question if there’s actually someone that truly acts like that without any hidden motives but it makes her character much more different from the previous female leads in the series. Her character blended well with Clyden’s rin since her character seemed to be depicted as THAT PERFECT GIRL, how her character was able to react strongly to the male lead’s was a great way to look through her character deeper than just perceiving Sam to be too perfect to be mad, too perfect to be like ‘this’. Clyden opened the window for Sam’s true character to show and that made it lovely. It made it feel more raw and genuine. Not fictitious.

Avenues of the Diamond by 4Reuminct — ★ ★ ★ ★

I just re-read this book and I still love it! The family dynamics between Clyden and Samantha, plus their arranged marriage, were heartbreakingly beautiful.

I loved seeing how their relationship grew, especially with how different their careers were. The friendship aspect was also such a standout—it’s really the heart of every book in this series.

This book shows that if two people truly love each other, no matter how long they’re apart, they’ll always find their way back. It took a while, but Clyden and Samantha finally got the happy ending they deserved.

Just a heads-up, though—check the trigger warnings before picking this up. It’s definitely an emotional read!

★★★★ // nevermind literary merit, i really liked reading this story. i read it bcos i was watching the tv series adaptations of the other books and have always been interested in sam’s story. while i was reading this, i ended up feeling emotionally invested in her journey with her love interest, clyden. both come from well-off and influential families, sam and clyden find themselves in an arranged marriage and soon fell in love. there’s hate-to-love, cohabitation hijinks, and i guess i just like it when the guy is a little obsessed with her (lol, they actually are obsessed with each other, but moreso him). but i think what i loved here most is how it used that classic “if you love her, set her free” adage. having to let go the love of your life due to bad timing, or to each try to find yourselves and be stable and better to stand again together in the future is a relatable and mature take on relationship. both sam and clyden took sacrifices for their love and for themselves. a happy ending is simply happier because they have endured a lot. and i think this story simply reminded me that letting go does not mean you love the person any less, sometimes life just sucks that way. but with a lot of determination, you will find a way to be together — as better individuals who can love better.

i think this is the first time that i finished a wattpad story in so long (last one was back in 2nd year college, in 2014 hahaha). i can’t say i am a fan of this author’s writing style at all so i was always unable to move forward with her first three stories in the series (even if Safe Skies Archer was my favourite in the tv adaptation), but i think she did a decent job writing this installment. in particular, there is one passage that i loved:

“i knew platonic love. it was the love i felt with my friends and sister. it was the love i could easily express with messages like ‘see me when you’re home!’ or ‘see you tomorrow! ily’. the love that was so easy to give. the love that was so easy to express. but i knew clyden wasn’t talking about platonic love. he phrased it as ‘falling in love’. it was the kind of love that was unexpected. it was the kind of love that you didn’t know unless you admit it to yourself. it was slowly burning in flames until you felt it… and the idea was scary. i didn’t want to get burned because my love has always been selfless. platonic or not.”

“for a moment, i remembered myself being so clueless about love. i defined it before with so many words like sacrifice, contentment, and pain, but now that i was already feeling it, i couldn’t even describe it with a word. it was just there. it was longing to be felt. it existed without me knowing.”

other stuff that i liked from this story:
- sam and yanna’s friendship and being “co-parent” to avi before hiro knew about her (there is a friends-to-lovers story there somewhere if they weren’t straight lol)
- sam and naomi’s bond as sisters (sigh)
- the running joke on sevi being the guy friend that everyone gets jealous of

one detail i didn’t like:
- someone’s death as a plot device (not just in this story, but in citw as well)

all in all, i really enjoyed this. my level of investment is that i would randomly think about sam and clyden and hope they’re happy. i hope the tv adaptation is good as well and they get a good actor for clyden, so aubrey doesn’t have to hardcarry the series.

Just when I thought Sevi was the only green flag among the boys, here's Dr. Clyden Jaile Ramirez proving us wrong. Loved the lessons and the heartbreaks in this book. Naomi's pain and suffering were close to my heart since my younger sister was like her (but in a different circumstance) that's why I felt so bad for her and for Sam. Indeed, Yanna's and Sam's stories are the best in this series. I have nothing against this book. This is probably the peak of Gwy's career as an author. Too bad not everyone could appreciate the reality slap that 'Avenues of the Diamond' wanted to convey.

first of all, wow.

i can’t get over myself shedding tears of joy and pain when i witnessed their story. they’re so purrfect ;(( 🐾 their chemistry? how they fit in each other’s arms? their patience? all so worth it. still, i love their story and i’m glad this got me out of boredom from the last book, and it really made up of it so well !! ;’) they will be my forever comfort characters bc not once did i not feel connected with the two, and bc i find great comfort while reading this, like everything feels like home.

cy — his intimidating aura can bring you to a challenge on how to break the ice built in has walls. the soft spot he has for dogs, and his eagerness to allot time for his love even though pursuing his dream requires his full body cooperation and time, i madly, madly appreciated his subtle gestures on checking up on maui and cooking her breakfast and preparing her lunch for school (and when he’s suffering from his clerkship and he put maui on top of his jammed plate) :( plus, he’s really smooth and straightforward in talking which made their communication work out! (bookish pet peeve is when they broke up due to miscommunication, super meh !!! but lukal made up for it haha) but nevertheless, this work amazed me in many ways i lose track of counting!
maui — a tenderhearted person, really soft spoken, and can’t get herself to do bad to people. i love her character bc she’s a unique one. her patience is longer than anyone i knew my entire life, so i admire her for that !! she tries, and tries, and allows nature to do its thing even though it gradually hurts her without noticing. she used her downfall to get back on her life track! my best girl 🥺

lmao isn’t it obvious how whipped i am for sacly? no words can describe how lucky they were and how the universe showed straight signals of them being made for both. and they deserve each other, imagine 8 years and still ending up choosing to continue their unfinished chapter ;—(

all the shining stars out of 5 !! ⭐️

Trigger Warning: Suicide, Mature Content

Avenues of the Diamond is Gwy's fourth entry in the University Series. The story revolves around the life of Samantha Vera. She is known as the best girl because she prioritizes the interests of others over her own. Through an arranged marriage, Sam was obligated to marry a medical student named Clyden Ramirez. They dislike each other right away, especially because Clyden despises Samantha's corrupt father. Despite their dislike for each other, they agreed to live under the same roof in order to please both of their parents.
I fell in love with Samantha's character in this book because of her genuine concern for her friends and others around her. I like how she was able to break free from the shackles that were keeping her from discovering her true self. My favorite part of the story was when she helped Yanna throughout her pregnancy and even after Avi was born. Aside from that, I really enjoyed the scene in which she and Clyden spend time with their dogs—it was adorable. This book made me feel a variety of emotions. There are also many heartwarming scenes. I finished the book earlier than expected because I couldn't stop turning the pages. There have been times when I have had to close the tablet because my eyes are swollen from crying and times when I have had to laugh so hard because of some scene.
What I didn't like about this book was when she kept everything for herself. She didn't seek assistance because she didn't want to bother others. I didn't like it because she didn't allow others to share her grief and cry with her. She did, however, learn to overcome it in the end.
Overall, I believe this is a worthwhile read. It could be useful if you're going through a reading slump. It is suitable for young adult readers who enjoy romance.

This book is a 4.5 ⭐ for me.

Guys this book was crazy good. I don’t think it was the best in the literary sense but you know it did make me feel really really good so that’s a 5 out of 5 for me. I haven’t read the other books in the series, because I started watching the show and really fell in love with Sams character. So, I was like I’m done with the first two seasons and wasn’t that tempted to read the first book yet, so why not go to my favorite girl. And right of the bat with the description of her book had me gagged in a fabulous way. I mean you got this sweet Angel (I related to her too much) + forced arranged marriage + enemies to lovers + a broody gentleman who’s smart and has dogs = you got me in that Wattpad app AGAIN. Anyways I don’t want to get into the nitty gritty of it, instead I’ll share how it made me feel. It made me feel hopeful for what? You don’t gotta know. It made me feel gagged again plus a chokehold (in a delightful way). And it made me fulfilled and was the right treat after going back plus missing the Philippines. Overall it did what I wanted to do. Made me so happy and thrilled that I found this book and the series. I don’t know if I’m gonna read the other to be honest. This blew the hats and boots off for me but who knows. Anyways love them mwah mwah.

Also the actress who’s portraying Sam in the show is doing a gorgeous job. She’s absolutely portraying that role up. I love her

My favorite of all the Univ series books I've read. I thought Hiro was my favorite male lead, but Clyden has his own undeniable charm. His attention to detail, selflessness, and acts of service for Sam are among my favorite qualities. I'm not really a fan of his anti-government sentiments, but at least he's aware that he's privileged, and it helps build his eventual independent character in the story (Well, maybe except for the part where he still works at his family's hospital. LOL). The dogs are adorable too.

I also felt Sam's pain when Naomi passed. The book carefully discussed mental health and the pain of losing someone. It emphasized that people shouldn’t blame themselves when someone leaves, and that it’s okay to choose yourself. I know some people dislike how the author wrote Naomi’s storyline, but I feel that, just like in real life, everyone has a different perspective on such situations. This is just one of many ways to show how a person’s death can affect others. Overall, this is a good read 📚.

Yes, they are. It seemed that all of the Wattpad tropes are in the house- Arranged Marriage: CHECK, Samantha Vera: Atenean, Model, Rich, with Political ties, CHECK. Cy Ramirez: UP student, Topnotcher, Doctor, Rich and Pogi, CHECK. I mean what more could you ask for. It's a significant tone down compared to the previous books but their struggles are humbling and relatable (well, minus the brains and riches). I think because of the fact that Cy is a doctor and basically has nothing done but study, work, sleep and repeat that it slowed the story, but I guess it is how Gwy establishes the entire problem and unintentionally affected the mood of the book. Nonetheless, I gave it 4 stars- slightly lower than its predecessors but still a good read to pass the time.

It was too sad and too long. Everyone was annoying and irritating (except Sam) even Yanna and Cy. This is a bit controversial but reading Sam’s perspective made me so annoyed that she always took care of Avi. Taking care of Yanna’s kid caused most of the stress in a specific period. I get that she didn’t have to but wanted to, still I found myself getting irritated and angry, she’s just too nice. I didn’t really like Cy he had his moments but I was more annoyed than delighted whenever he was mentioned. They were boring as a couple. And majority of the story was sad not in a good way just sad and miserable. This book was somehow fast paced and so slow like get to the point please.

This book is my favorite among the series because it resonates with me. I have been crying since yesterday because I can totally relate as the girl who bottles up her emotions and problems. My friends can attest to that! 🥲 Reading Naomi's part was soooooo hard for me and I thought I already //somehow// moved on from my father's death but it still triggers me whenever I read something wherein the MC has a lot of regrets as to why he/she did not do this when they are still alive.

I loooove Yanna and Sam's relationship!!! I like how they can sense each other's problem right away but still waits for them to share. I also love the relationship with their friends. Sevi, Luna, Keirra, and Via 🥺🤍 From understanding Yanna's sudden announcement of her getting pregnant to being there for Sam because of her breakdown. 😢

I know this review is chaotic brb still crying 😭

gosh darn it, this is if performative activism morphed into a failed attempt at a cutesy romantic comedy. + the naomi plot is so forced, idk man, it’s so superficial and you can see very clearly how romanticized it was. we don’t actually see her struggles, why make it such a huge part of the story if u weren’t going to elaborate further on her past and why she did what she did? it’s like if a sick person WAS SICK for the sake of it. she js added it so sam can have a hurdle to overcome and it’s fucked up. suicide and mental health is not something to take lightly, and it certainly shouldn’t be used as a tool for a character arc. i liked sam’s character tho. i saw myself in her the way we’re both constantly taken advantage of for our kindness. gwy just butchered her character by writing it poorly.

been attached and in love with it for the first time. might re-read it often or buy a copy of the book. it made me feel a rollercoaster of emotions with the days reading it. it even made me sacrifice my chores at home lol. it had this thing, where i would stay and choose to read and read and read it. i love how their love story progresses because I as well wanted to experience that kind of love. even if there are a lot of sacrifices along the way. i want to experience a love that waits and respects. the kind of love where you feel you’re free.

however, there are parts of the story where i feel like there is a lack of showing and more on it’s only telling. there are parts of it where I feel like it’s a fast-paced book lol.

Out of the male leads from this series, Cy was my favorite. He just fits my ideal type. He's an Iskolar ng Bayan, a Med Student/Doctor, very aware of the social issues, calm, very funny, and smart. While I was reading this book, it just made me wish to have a guy like Cy someday. Sam was really lucky as she just doesn't have the status, face, and everything, but she also has Cy. Another thing that I liked about this book is that it shows who Sam is. From the other series, we knew her as a party girl, very sociable, always smiling, and always there for her friends. However, deep inside, she is hiding everything as she doesn't want the people around her to worry. I love how Cy was able to break her wall and how they can depend on each other.

Clyden and Samantha, what a perfect pair. It’s very worth it.

Finally may favorite na akong Filipino romance book. I tried before but, I couldn’t even get pass half of the book. Buti nakinig ako sa sister ko to try this one. Tsaka ang ganda kaya magbigay ng book review in Filipino. ☺️

I love this Book! Yes it was about Sam and Clyden’s love story but I love how this book gives it’s readers a glimpse of reality. Suicide, gender issues, and more. This story will taught you to always be kind because you never know if the people you are talking to is going through something.

Being selfless is not bad, but don’t forget to love yourself too.

Thank you Gwy for Sam and Clyden’s wonderful story ❤️

I like Clyden's character. Mix of Sevi and Kalix hihi. On the other hand, the epitome of kindness, there we have Sam. I like her how she treats everyone. The part when Naomi became one of the stars, I can't imagine the pain she's holding. But Yanna got her back just like what Sam did when she was pregnant. Awwe. Samantha's runway walks though. I can see how she made Clyden turns. Am I still saying right stuff here? Anyway that prologue though. Hahaha! Would like to reread!
