What happened to Dottie Granger and why is her son still trapped in The Sullivan House?

The people of Bisbee have spent forty years whispering about the reclusive Hadley Granger, and the night his mother disappeared from The Sullivan House. The shy inn keeper has done his best to keep her memory, and the haunted bed and breakfast, alive by any means necessary. When the town learns that Hadley is also a best-selling author, his private life and all his secrets begin to bleed off the page.

Hadley’s latest guest is a stoic engineer protecting a few secrets of his own. Lyle Hewer’s come to Bisbee to escape a collapsing affair and to determine if the Queen Mine is safe enough to reopen. But trouble follows him to the quirky former mining town when his ex arrives and books a room at The Sullivan House.

The chivalrous inn keeper volunteers for the part of Lyle’s new boyfriend to help him save face, but their plan goes awry almost immediately. Lyle has been in love with the gentle inn keeper from the first moment he stepped foot in The Sullivan House, and Hadley finds himself falling for his prickly guest too. But Hadley has one very big problem: Lyle has to leave before it’s too late and the secrets of The Sullivan House shatters both of their lives.

Warning: brief scenes depicting domestic violence against women and children.

The Bisbee Bachelors' Club has been such a fun series to read, ever much as weird and kooky and cute as the town the characters live and love in.

In Shadows & Reservations, the sixth book in the series, we finally get to see beneath the covers of the newly unveiled super-famous author Hadley, outside of his haunted inn and tragic history and through the eyes of the mysterious Lyle, in turn to decide the fate of an old mine...

And Lyle is Hadley's perfect match in so many ways.

I loved getting to read the way Lyle grew through this story, the way he responded to his situation and stepped above his so-called station to claim his love. I adored how sweet the romance between he and Hadley was—how it evolved from fake boyfriends to earnest lovers, and the way Hadley respond to this. I loved how they learned each other from a place of respect, through a shared disdain of Lyle's cheating ex, through a need to protect the other, through their actions and with the approval of Hadley's friends.

I enjoyed the hijinks of the Bisbee Bachelors'and their glee and delight in Hadley's new beau. The fact that they're all positively giddy at the prospect of Hadley finding his happiness is a joy to read.

And in typical K. Sterling fashion, there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you (and the main characters) on their toes, as a storm brews large upon the town of Bisbee and secrets begin to be exposed.

A fun, sweet, throughly entertaining read.

I was NOT expecting this to be such a fluffy, emotional read! After unearthing the mystery of Hadley'past and the motives behind his scary cautious, recluse behaviour, I think he got exactly what he deserved in the tender, sweet, sassy Lyle. I mean, the man stood up to Mercer- twice! That should explain everything.

The romance between those two was exactly what each character needed- Lyle because of his shitty ex and Hadley because, well, everything and- besides them reminding me of the lack of Aragorn/Legolas content in my life- I'm soooo damn happy for them!!!

BUT, more than that, the beautiful friendships between Hadley and Noah and Russ and Lyle...RUSS and Lyle! were so sweet and endearing. I don't know what it is but I love when the friendships/found family is as good as the romance- and there are some pretty darn great friends in this series. I just love each bachelor and soon to be ex-bachelor so much!

Also, I think all of this syrupy sweetness was just to prepare us for the heat between Russ and a certain doctor in the next book! *insert excited shriek* I can't wait to see how this is gonna unfold!

PS- um, uh are we gonna get more uh, yuh know, Thaddeus content? Because I would love that very much! Especially if it's for a certain younger ''bachelor'' who works at a really cool coffee shop ;)

Captivating!!!

I love the town of Bisbee and the men are so fine and interesting. There are also a few ghosts and an occasional witch, which just ups the fun. This story is about Hadley the innkeeper and Lyle the engineer who comes to inspect the mine in Bisbee and maybe Hadley as well. Toss in some old and new mysteries and you won't want to stop reading!

This is such a fun series. However, Hadley Granger has a sad past. He runs a B & B in the house he grew up in. His mother disappeared when he was a young boy and Hadley has never left Bisbee. He is a famous writer using the pen name Grady Wrangle. His newest guest is Lyle Hewer, an engineer who is in Bisbee to check and see if the local mine is safe to be re-opened. This is not a popular idea with those from Bisbee. We get to see all the previous bachelors which was fun. We also get to learn Hadley's secrets and see him fall in the love with just the right man. A great addition to the series.

And K. Sterling does it again! I love the Bisbee Bachelors series for how she takes tropes I usually don't like or outright hate, and make me love them. This may be my favourite yet. I really liked Hadley and Lyle's connection and how they took care of each other, and the mystery was fun and not overpowering. I also wasn't expecting ace rep! I don't think is stated anywhere, but I read Hadley as demisexual and it was written beautifully.

I refused to read the preview of the next book because it would have just made me want more, but I'm left awaiting Russ's story with anticipation.

I love this series

I really want to live in Bisbee!
I'm super happy that Hadley had his own story.
The true innocents of his.
Was a breath of fresh air.
All the ups and downs were exciting.
Miss Sterling ( my jaunty girl) knows she's doing, to keep her stories flowing with ease.
She's always a one click pre order
If she's a new to you, you'll not be disappointed.

As always, I enjoyed the latest in the (slightly fluffy, slightly supernatural) series. As usual, I felt like we were listening in on the group of friends, even though I know these people only live in the author's head. Some angst, and lots of questions are answered.

terrific plot and characters

Rating: 4.25🌈

The ranks of the Bisbee Bachelor’s Club continues to shrink with Shadows & Reservations, the story of
Hadley Granger, owner of the most haunted house and hotel in Bisbee and his romantic love story with Lyle Hewer. Lyle Hewer is someone who is an outsider to the close knit Bisbee community but has been working his way into their lives book by book.

Sterling’s story focus is Granger and The Sullivan House, a place he rarely leaves and one that’s rightfully earned the reputation as the most haunted place in the town. Full of spirits that cannot rest and constantly haunt both Granger and anyone who steps on the property, its anguished history is a great part of the story.

That’s where the mystery and murders are and the relationship between the two men will be built. When the story concentrates on Granger, a sad, tormented man with a broken past, the book is terrific. Lyle, for me, no matter what story he’s appeared in, has been more a problematic character. That continues here.

His ex and the issues that come up with Lyle aren’t as realistic, amazingly given that Granger’s are ghostly. But Granger is such a great character and the support group of the rest of the Bisbee community works really well to make him and this an interesting mystery and satisfying story.

A surprise around every corner!

OK, I really did not see that one coming! *grin*

I was so glad to see Hadley finally get the life that he deserved! It broke my heart to hear his truth and to find out the reason for his self-isolation and guilt. In my opinion, that poor man had suffered enough, and Lyle thought so too!

This story had such a soft flow, just like how Lyle and Hadley's relationship was slowly built... baby steps was the game plan, and it worked!

Looking forward to seeing Russ learn to move on with this life in Heart & Soulless...

Fabulous! Once again K Sterling has knocked it out of the park. I keep thinking that I know who my favorite characters in The Bisbee Bachelors' Club are and then Sterling introduces new characters and I have to revise my decision. Lyle and Hadley are such beautiful people and their relationship is so pure. The twists and turns in the plot made it impossible to put this book down. I loved it!
