I’ve got a dinner date. Too bad I had to get arrested for murder to agree to it.
If I needed a reminder that life can change on a dime, getting my Miranda rights read on a sunny south Florida afternoon would be it. It’s also a good time to sternly remind myself that I, Avery English, detail-oriented investment advisor and cheap eyewear fashionista, am not a crier.
My last glimpse of freedom includes smoking-hot ex-cop Seven Donnelly, security consultant, who’s already speed-dialing his hotshot lawyer. He promises that he has my back—and he’s got a table reserved for when I make bail.
What a flirt.
The victim was a client of mine, and someone swears they saw me fleeing the scene. Joke’s on them. Numbers are my life, and I know to the minute when and what I was doing.
Deborah Brown is the author of the Paradise series, Crazy, Deception and Trouble Florida Keys mysteries, which makes the reader laugh, cry and cheer...
My personal ad would read:
There's nothing a new pair of shoes can't cure.
Redhead. Long legs. There's nothing like a strawberry-lemonade in summer. Favorite activity: Filling my pockets with seashells. An avid rule follower when eating Animal Cookies: Broken ones get eaten first, match up the rest, duplicates next, line them up favorite to not, least favorite go first. South Florida is my home, with my ungrateful rescue cats, and where Mother Nature takes out her bad attitude in the form of hurricanes.
I'm enjoying this series by Deborah Brown. This is Avery's story and she's arrested for the murder of one of her clients. Seven is by her side all the way as well as Harper and Rella. The two additional plot lines woven through the story had a feel good vibe as Avery helped "clients" resolve personal issues while she was "patiently" waiting for her murder charges to be resolved. Quickly paced with a slow burn and clean romance made this one a fun read.
I loved the 1st book and was so excited for thus one, but to me, it was a huge let down. First of all, the blurb states how good with numbers the h is and can account for every second of her time, yet there is NEVER any talk about the time of death and her alibi! Lol, there's too many crime/police procedural shows on TV to skip that when it was hinted at in the blurb that it was actually (and should have been) part of the story. I'm gonna pass on the next book and this author. Too many others out there and I read to relax and enjoy a story not to be frustrated by it.
Deborah Brown has me hooked on another series with her gift of story telling. I love how it was a cossove with Cruz. These friends always look out for each other and I love their adventures.the story is fun and fast paced as well as taking place in a perfect setting. I love how the friends pool their resources to not only help each other but also those they meet that truly need help. I hope there are just as many books as there are in the original series that I first got addicted to.
We met Avery in the first book along with Seven. Avery is accused of murdering her client after stealing money from her. Seven has decided that she is his forever and does protection detail. Avery being bored with not being able to take care of her business, she does some side work with Seven and Grey. The things Avery and her friends get into and the trouble they cause is hilarious. A must read cozy mystery.
Embezzlement and Murder Is Only The Beginning This book is the second in a trilogy. These are funny and clean mysteries with a huge helping of clean romance. The Atlantic side of Florida is the location for these friends to live and meet more friends. They all seem to have enough money and between them have friends that can do anything. I am really enjoying the series. The mystery is a page-turner that makes you laugh out loud once in a while. I am off to read book 3.
I chose this rating because the author quickly captured my attention and then kept me glued to he book. This novel is action -packed and the characters are believable and well-developed. I'm looking forward to reading all of the stories this author has masterfully created!!
I love these characters!! They're sarcastic, snarky, and loyal to the end. Avery has been arrested for murder, and it's up to her best friends and her new "boyfriend" to see that she doesn't go to prison.
Well written, excellent grammar and a story that moves well. From the first to the last word, you will not be bored. Deborah Brown grows in her writing, though some elements are used in all her stories.
I did not like the first book and was going to quit there. Took a chance and enjoyed this one. A lot of ambiguity in this story. Not sure if the author is stopping at 3 or just building the series. I would like to see more character development if it continues.
Every story gets more fun with crazy laugh out loud antics and sisterhood that makes you proud. Strong supportive if not overly protective men that curl your toes and leave you wearing goofy grins!
I like these characters, the three women friends and the two guys who are their boyfriends. My reason for not giving a higher rating is that I don’t feel the author researched her legal facts very thoroughly.
The three books in this series are fantastic. Fast paced and full of excitement you fall madly in love with our heroines just like their heroes did. Highly recommended.
This series features smart, spunky ladies, and the hunky guys who are strong and confident enough to love them. There are mysteries and suspense, evil villains, and humor.
The adventures of Harper, Avery & Rella never cease to end. How 3 women can get into these things and come out with the perfect men is amazing. These women do use their talents for good.
No character depth... no heavy thinking...some sub plots to make it more interesting. If you are looking for a light, humorous read, I recommend Not Guilty.
Isn't it weird that you can get accused of a crime so easily... Scary! Great story, but don't expect to solve the mystery easily since in reality there is no breadcrumb trail.
