Blue eyes, raven hair—and a terrible secret.

Life in Shatterlake is pretty laid back. I go to high school, live on a farm, and lead a normal, quite life. When I meet Josh, however, there is something intriguing about this young man. He’s gentle and kind, but always cautious and distant. As my feelings for him grow, I make a horrifying discovery.

Josh is a werewolf.

One day, he suddenly turns into a ravenous beast, and I barely escape with my life. Still struggling to accept who Josh is, things take a darker turn when he’s caught in a feud with the local werewolf pack. The alpha and Josh are like oil and water—and one of the members is Hell bent on killing me.

I’m scared. For my life, for my loved ones, and for Josh. Trying to protect me, he seems to lose control over his inner beast. I can’t believe he’s the bloodthirsty monster the pack claims he is … Or is he?

I honestly couldn't be happier with how this book was written and just everything about it! I didn't really have any expectations or ideas on how it would be, and I am really happy about it! I feel like if I expected it to be more of a serious book, I would have been disappointed. This book is definitely made for teenage girls looking for that perfect werewolf romance and drama!
plot:
I loved the conflict between the pack and the inner conflict in the relationship between Josh and Ruby! The way Ruby, and Josh especially, dealt with Josh being a werewolf and how it would affect their relationship was so nice to read about! I also really loved Josh's growth as a character throughout the entire plot! I think that Josh really grew to accept himself for who he was and I think that Ruby helped a lot with that, which I love because seeing their relationship help Josh so much made my heart flutter! I just can't even believe how good and wholesome the plot was! It exceeded every expectation I had for a teen werewolf romance!
Characters:
omg, ok so the way Ellen Hunter wrote the characters in this book was *chef's kiss*!! I literally love Ruby and Josh together so much! Although they make such an amazing couple, I think that Josh has some work to do on his character. He was just somewhat problematic because he blamed himself for literally everything, but I understand why because it fits very well in the plot and sets their relationship up to fix that pleasingly throughout the plot. I also didn't really like that Josh kept trying to push Ruby away, I know he thought he was trying to protect her and I get that, but all Ruby wanted to do was help him. I would have also liked to see some more dates and cute interactions between the two because I sort of feel like Ruby went from like to love really quick and I didn't really see the reason. But other than that I loved Ruby and Josh, but can I also say that Ruby's parents were so hilarious like they represented how every teenage girl feels about their parents when a boy is around lol.

So overall this book was absolutely amazing and fulfilled my want for that classic teenage werewolf drama! If you are looking for this type of vibe in a book with werewolf romance, amazing plot, and exciting action scenes, look no further than this beauty!

The author Ellen Hunter has presented a wonderful story which shows her unbeatable and limitless imagination and creativity. The story features Ruby Bennington a bright, hard working girl who meets Josh and gets immediately drawn towards him. She loved his company but eventually noticed some unusualness and discovers that he is a werewolf. Without knowing this truth she fell in love with him and after so much of dilemma she finally accepted him with his truth. On the other hand Josh was also in deep love with her and always wanted to keep her safe but this pure love will also have a lot of challenges to face on the way. After Ruby started spending more time with him, a wolf pack didn't appreciated this happening and they now aims to finish Ruby. Josh have to keep his love strong and also keep her safe. With several ups and downs and tragic situations the story is beautiful and reflects the beauty, and incredibility of love. Turn the pages to take a lovely experience.

A really wonderful story. I was really hooked this the end. The author's imagination and storytelling skills are incredible. The story is fast paced with great premises and thrilling experiences. Their are a lot of adventures and along with them the story shows us the beauty of love and it's struggles. The cover of the book is captivating and the title is staggering. A wonderful work by the author, I heartily appreciate it.

You all can read this amazing story. The fans of Twilight series are definitely going to love this. Make this your reading time companion and you'll have a great time with it. Share it with your friends and double the joy, the story has everything which will make you fall in love with it. So hurry up and grab your copies now!

This small town paranormal romance is a slow burn YA peek into a different wolf story. The author definitely made this unique with a combination of wolf shifters, werewolves, and a human in the mix. This book is filled with pulse-pounding action, sweet romantic moments, and a story like no other. I enjoyed Ellen Hunters' story and look forward to reading more of her books in the future. This book was initially written by a German author and is available in other languages.

This book has quite the prologue. We get a tense night from a girl's point of view we find out her name is Ruby. But what was that thing in the forest?

We jump forward to Ruby working; she is now eighteen. She lives in Shatterlake, Canada, in a small town. Ruby is very brave.

Josh Grayson happens to come into her life in two unusual circumstances. He seems like a nice guy minus his quick exit. There is definitely something going on with him.

Ruby gets shocked when she follows him into the forest and discovers that the prologue wasn't her imagination so many years ago. Ruby's reaction, I think, is classic to seeing something that scares you and you don't understand. I like that she was fearful and ran when seeing this surprise as Josh wasn't himself.

She adapts okay to the new paranormal reality once all is known. I love how sweet Josh is to her; however, there are some scary moments still in the story. I absolutely adore the family interactions in this book. This book does have its moment of intense pulse-pounding action, but it also has sweet moments where you get a look within the characters. This book does end happily.

It was so nice to read this book!!

I picked this book first at all because of the cover, I love the colors and everything on it, it's definitely a book I would love to have on my shelves.

But let's talk about the story. I must admit I wasn't too happy with it at the beginning, maybe the first 25% of the book, there was some stuff that I didn't like. It felt too much insta-love for a second, but I kept reading and now I can say it was honestly just one sentence in the whole book that annoyed me.

After 25-30 initial percent of the book, I just fell into the rabbit hole and I went to bed till 5 am when I finally finished it.

The characters are well written, Ruby is a really strong girl and I loved my first impression of her because it is her saving the guy and not the other way around as usually is. Then about Josh, he is a really character, he is the "Touch her and I'll k*ll you" but at the same time he is so sweet, and a good guy.

Something else I loved about this book was Ruby's relationship with her parents, usually, in the books, this isn't mentioned but here we can see it, and it is a beautiful relationship. But on the other hand, we didn't see that much of her friends, even Audrey who is her best friend, I feel I don't know her, and I hope we can see more of her friends in future books.

It's a fast reading, well-written book, the perfect book for you to escape into a whole new world. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of that first 25% of the book, but it's worth to keep reading and finish it!!

This story is told from first-person perspective—through Ruby’s eyes—and I have to say that the author does very well in this regard. My only critique would be that in the prologue, the author struggled writing Ruby’s voice. In first-person perspective, a writer cannot write in their own voice, but rather, must write in the voice of the character. In the prologue, Ruby is twelve years old, but the way it was written didn’t match her age. This voice worked better for the rest of the story, so that is the end of this note.

Another thing I noticed right away was the inconsistency in the punctuation. At times, proper apostrophes were used, but most of the time, single primes were utilized in the contractions. I believe this issue stems from the fact that the author is originally German-speaking, and this book is translated into English.

My other critiques lie in the few verb inconsistencies in the text, though that is an editing problem rather than a story problem, and most likely happening during the translation process.

The story’s plot itself was refreshing. It is, as most Romances are, a very character-driven plot, but I enjoyed the flow of action as well. There were no scenes that stuck out to me as merely filler, and each event tied into the story arc. The characters were each realistic and unique, with proper motivations that created exciting conflicts with other characters. Their descriptions were vivid. There were some I liked more than others, which is something I always look for in a book.

As for the magic system, this book has werewolves. We learn throughout how werewolves work and what they look like, but we are also strung along with the mystery of why and how Josh is different from the others. This mystery is left unsolved in this book, but not in an unsatisfying way. There is no glaring reason why it needed to be revealed, and it’s nice to have an aspect of the book not thrown out as exposition. I like the intrigue.

This was actually quite interesting to read. Now that I know there is two more books I’m sooo eager to buy them!!!
This literally reminds me of twilight but the werewolf being the main character and there is no vampires… hahah the love story between Bella and Edward is actually Ruby and Josh in a different setting. There’s crazy rivalry between werewolf clan. Josh is half wolf. He is blamed for a lot of things that he didn’t even do. In the end he showed how mighty his half wolf truly is. But I still have lots of questions that I’m sure will be answered once I finish the series as Ellen said she’d put in the next two books. The whole love story of a human and a werewolf just seriously is sooo satisfying. This was such a wonderfully written young love story, I just absolutely love it. The way her parents are how they are and they fall in love with this boy before they even know him. Just is such a sentimental read and to know the passion Ruby and Josh have for one another!!! Ahhh such a great book!!!! All the hidden characters in there were such a key element to the story too.

I have to say, I loved this book. It gave me all the feels.

Ruby and Josh were such great characters. Their story was well thought out and fun to experience. The settings were spectacular.

I am so excited to see what happens in the next book. I've already got it queued up on my Kindle.

I highly recommend this story to anyone who appreciates werewolf books especially Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.

This is a fab YA supernatural romance that although a little slow to start soon picks up and draws you in. A well written slow burn romance filled with action, adventure and drama. The characters are relatable and I enjoyed their journey. Shifters, humans, teenage angst and drama, I enjoyed reading this and would definitely read more.

Slow Moving

I found this book to be slow moving and hard to pay attention to. I skipped from 30% to 80% and apparently didn’t miss much. The book did not hold my attention.

Rezension zum Buch Wolf: Under your Skin von Ellen Hunter

Inhaltsangabe:

Mein Fazit:

Ich vergebe für Wolf - Under your Skin 5 Schneeflocken ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
