Děsí mě a vzrušuje zároveň. Je mnou posedlý a přitom uzavřený. Chrání mě a zraňuje mě. Sex. Obklopuje nás to ze všech stran, a když nás dostihne Hrdinova temná minulost, zaplatím za to místo něj já...

Oh my, I loved writing this book so much. This is the first book I've ever co-written with another author and I couldn't be more happy and excited about it. This is only the first of many books J.L Beck and I will write together.

Happy Reading!!!

Heroine was too needy and pathetic for my tastes. I actually liked the H but the heroine spoilt it for me by chasing him and being too dependant on him for her happiness. I prefer females who are strong so I guess this book just wasn’t for me.

This was a pretty good read that I liked. Hero has been to jail for murder. She has been protected all her life to the point she really didn't make decisions for herself. Now they are both in the same college and she becomes his tutor. When he gets out of prison his mom's dream was for him to go to college, so that is how he ends up at the local community college. At first, he thinks he can keep her separate from the dark side of his life, but it doesn't take long for it to all come crashing down. This was a good read the sex scenes were ok and I have read this author before. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

This had no substance whatsoever. It's literally love at first sight. Things move quickly with them. There is a bunch of drama. He's a killer, and she comes from a screwed up family. None of these things were explored in enough detail. Most of the book was sex scenes. To sum it up, this was a complete waste of time.

CONVICT ME tutto sommato è una lettura davvero piacevole, veloce e molto, molto bollente!

I loved the H bc he was so insane for the h. My biggest complaint was that at one point the H becomes cruel and pushes the h away. She should have left but stayed with him and even climbed into bed with him while he continued being a jerk. Nevertheless, the H was utterly possessive, protective, and obsessed with the h which I LOVED!.

A děj?

I have been SOOOOOOO SLOW reading this last week. I am trying to dip my toe into writing some of my own stuff so we shall see how that goes lol.

This was a decent story. I mostly liked it because it was a fun start to a series. I am really interested to see where it goes. A few issues I had were; The connection between the MC's felt a bit Insta-love/lust and the hero was extremely hot and cold. I understand what the author was going for by Hero ditching Elyse after she saw him as his 'worst self' and I got it, but it just felt a little too whiplashy. Maybe, if there had been a little more angst from him during their separation, it would have felt more natural to me.
I also thought the final conflict between Hero and was WAY WAY to quick! I mean It was just... anti - climactic.

Overall though I did enjoy the story and I am looking forward to Daimon's book :)

*small spoilers* ish

It’s really predictable.

Sometimes it’s hard to understand if it’s an actual conversation or just a thought. There were times when I thought it was an inner conversation but the other character answers.

Some things are just mentioned once and never again. Like there is no need to actually explain or expand on things. It’s just thrown into the story and then ripped out.

HERO:

His real name is Jonathan. Hero is a nickname he got in prison because they respected him for killing his abusive stepfather. I don’t believe that it would happen in real life. I mean Hero? Come on. And all that “you are my hero now” I get angrier the more times it is mentioned. Like come up with something better. Name him Rodney or something.

As soon as there is a little argument he acts like he’s a teenager He slams a door or walks away. He is very immature in serious situations.

To keep Elyse safe he KEEPS HER INSIDE.
Also he had to do a friend a favour, he had to work at this club. It’s mentioned once when he agreed to it and then never mentioned again. Did he clone himself and his clone went to work? Or didn’t he actually have to do it?
He said he took Elyse with him “on drops”. WHAT DROPS? Is he a drug dealer all of a sudden or what?
I still don’t know what he was studying at college or how old he actually is.

ELYSE:

Oh isn’t she the perfect woman. Small, tiny, blue eyes, no makeup, incredibly long eyelashes and how can I forget, sooooooo innocent looking. How does one look innocent?

Her family is very Christian? I think. They want her to wear skirts. She doesn’t want to. (Very important information). I’d like it to be more information on her family. Why did they just agree to let her go to college when they apparently hadn’t with their other children? Also how old is she? 19?20? They might have mentioned it but I can’t remember and I can’t be bothered trying to remember.

HER FRIEND TAMMY? TAMIKA? TARA?:

I don’t remember her name. But if she was her real friend she wouldn’t just let her go with a stranger and if she would I’d at least think she’d call or text or have any type of interaction. She just leaves her. Yeah she might have been scared but still, you always check up on your friend. Right, I’d never let anyone just leave and then have no contact with them.

Also she isn’t an important character. She is just there because Elyse needs at least one friend.

All in all it’s not good.

I am sure that there are plenty of people out there that will love this book. I am just not one of them. I even gave myself a few extra days to see if my feeling would temper or change and they just didn't. I found this book to be tedious. There is just way too much angst in this story. It felt like when I was in high school and a bad break up left me alone in the dark with "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" playing over and over on the cassette player (I know, dating myself). It was just too much, to immature, too too. Then to top it all off I really don't like Elyse. I could not decide who she was supposed to be. What did it mean to be Elyse other than to be emotionally immature? So I am giving this 2 stars to show I recognize that others might really love this one, just not me.

Fresh out of prison, Hero follows his mother’s dream of going to school, but when Hero Miller takes on a tutor, he wasn’t expecting the lovely Elyse to show up. Everything about her screams innocence, and Hero finds himself wanting to claim her, protect her and take care of her all at once, and only after only one meeting. Elyse is working as a tutor to help pay her bills, when she meets Hero while running late for their session, the sparks begin to fly when he tells her he wants a kiss as payment for being late. When Elyse finds herself thinking about Hero more and more, sparks begin to ignite. What will happen as the pair grow closer and Hero’s past catches up to him? Or will something else stand in their way?

Two college students hero and Elise basement during a tutoring session. Their first meet was strong and awkward. These are two different people from two different worlds. When's the convict and when has lived under a rock up until now.

The storyline has great potential and I did enjoy the narration.
The storyline had gaps and inconsistencies that made the story hard to follow. The characters gave whiplash, I wasn't sure if they were coming or going. The who thing seemed rushed. Indecisive characters throughout.

I Give this Book a 3.5/5 Star Rating, Listing as 3.
HEA(?): Yes
Romance: 3.5/5
Heat: 3-3.5/5
Suspense: 3.5/5
Drama: 3-3.5/5

This Book has a few more scenes then the original Free version.
Hero is an Arsehole for the most part but I’m a Addict for those type of guys in books, it was a pretty decent read. My biggest issue was the fact that it was Insta-Love, well mainly on Hero’s part first, everything felt so..immediate, no real breathing room.
The beginning for me was too fast, even though I liked the first paragraph which drew me in, and it made me want to just disregard the book because it just felt weirdly off putting.
I think I would’ve like this book better of the first few chapters were rewritten.

This is a beautiful book. It has been a while since J.L. Beck has released a book and I have never read a book by Cassandra Hallman story so to read this book is a great deal for me. This is a great story about two people that are in college and fall in love when they least expect it. They are nothing alike but that is what makes them great for each other. But what happens when those differences come forward and bring them outside of their bubble?

I loved this book and can't wait for the next one.

Wow! This book had me hooked from the start and I finished it in one day! Elysse is a very naive and innocent young woman due to the upbringing she had from her strict parents. She attends college and meets Hero who is a dark alpha and the complete opposite to her. Hero is a complicated soul, he seems tough on the outside due to his upbringing but he has a heart so pure and I think that’s what makes him and Elysse the perfect match. Their story takes you through good times and sad times but you get a HEA at the end which is perfect not to mention the sex scenes are HOT!!

Convict Me was a pleasant book to read. It's not the first book I've read from J.L. Beck and C. Hallman , so the were moments that I had a feeling of déjà vu. If it was the very first book, I'm sure everything would have been new to me, especially the cult related stuff. Regardless, I enjoyed reading the story of Hero and Elyse. There were twists and turns, steamy moments, violence, blood, murder and a nice dose of drama. I'm going to read the next book, so I can eventually read Luke's story!

P.S. Does anyone know if Gunner and Lily have their own book?

This book was hot even if the girl did give me whiplash for how often her moods changed. Loved how he did everything he could to protect her even from someone he considered family cause he just wanted to be her Hero. Hero was a douche occasionally but he made up for it with how hot he was and how much he loved her. Hated her parents and how they judged Hero before they knew him and in the end all they did was lose everything

This is a fast paced opposites attract romance with strong characters and an action packed story line. You have mafia bad boy Hero meeting shy virgin Elyse , having a hot chemistry with sizzling hot scenes and a steamy romance. Throw in the suspense , twists and turns and you have a true page turner. The authors move the story quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.

Elyse was a little too naive for me, but I loved the bad boy, Hero, (most of the time). Their story was a little jumbled. we got hints of their pasts which kind of hints at why they are the way they are but as characters they never really grow. Would have loved a little more character development. Mostly though I did enjoy their story and may just dive into the next book and continue with Damon Rossi's story.

fast paced, quick read. Hero wants Elyse the minute she walks into the room as his tutor. He instantly wants to protect her and make her his. The are complete opposites. He is a convicted murderer and she is an innocent girl raised by religious parents. She starts out as meek and mild but quickly finds her spine. He gives her courage and she gives him peace. There is drama, action, bad guys and sexy scenes in this short story that will keep your entertained.
