Iruma is back to normal and the class has its fancy new digs, but the newest threat is far more academic in nature. With exams looming, Iruma needs to learn a lot of basic demon stuff fast and that may involve his secret getting out…

There is something so consistently pleasant about this series that utterly charms me anew with each volume and I cannot get over how it pulls its fat from the fire every single time I think a volume is going to go south.

This one starts a bit rough just because the new professor, Balam, has this real weird habit of petting and snuggling his students and there’s just something creepier than intended about that that really left a taste in my mouth most of the volume.

It’s a shame because he’s actually a really good character otherwise and his friendship with Iruma is a neat little touch, as well as his unexpected friendship with Kalego. The two of them have a real ‘Hagrid and Snape being buddies’ vibe that I especially enjoyed.

Actually, Kalego manages to steal this volume when he conducts home visits for the students. This is a perfect example of how good this series is at being ridiculous, yet sneaking in a little heart amidst the silly bits.

Kalego goes through hell conducting these visits, you won’t be shocked to know the visit with Clara’s family is a high point, but Iruma correctly realizes just how invested Kalego is in making sure all of his students are achieving their goals. This is the sort of minor tweak that makes this such an enjoyable series.

Oh, some of it is just silly. A girl talk chapter gets off course with a little magic, but not before Clara has an unexpected romantic awakening by some idle chatter about Iruma. Clara and Ameri make for another wildly amusing pairing.

The final chunk of the book leads to an amusement park of Disney-esque stature with a big secret underneath that promises some mayhem and a returning foe from previous chapters (resulting from yet another former foe’s overstepping, ironically). This part is a change from traditional summer vacation stories and that’s more than okay with me.

Really, it’s astonishing that this silly demon book has, at its core, the tenet that kindness and basic decency can win out over the worst stuff. Even more astonishing is that it doesn’t feel cloying at all; the message is conveyed without being overbearing.

3.5 stars - minor ding for creepy teacher actions, but rounded up for being a nice reminder that maybe kindness can still get you by in a place that doesn’t value it.

Maaaan this series is so good. Just pure joy from front to back, and every character’s written so well and really likeable. This small studying arc was good (not peak like the last volume but still really good) and I really like where the current arc is heading. Inject this series into my veins dawg😤

Another banger volume that I hold close to my heart. Ngl I reread this volume every so often to help me lock in with exams: not only does it have Iruma's inspiration abilities, it also has probably the best character ever, my goat Shichiro Balam!! I love the expansion of Kalego's world and his influence w the students — as well as the glimpse we have of his life prior to being a teacher. I remember that the spin off for Kalego Gaiden released around this time and it was also a goated mini series.

We get another fun character in the form of Balam who I love as he kind of reminds of some people I know those who are so obsessed with some fandom that they will drop everything just to learn more about it in this case it is humans and the pay off for this character is interesting as it gives Irumu another ally. Also again I feel so sorry for Kalego as he has to deal with his visiting his students and it is pretty funny seeing him just get swept up in a lot of his student's crazy home lives. And Walter Park seems it going to be interesting as we get some surprise characters coming back.

New scary teacher, study group, final exam, girl's time, visiting amusing park, and my fav definitely Kalego's home visits, I adore this teacher a lot and him as familiar just adorable and cute and that part always got me laugh a lot.
Overall a fun chaos full of laughter read.

Je pense qu’avec ce manga, je ne serais jamais déçue. Mais vraiment jamais. C’est impossible pour moi de ne pas aimer un tome de cette série. J’aime tellement ce manga, dès que je reçois le nouveau tome, je suis toujours hyper heureuse et j’ai beaucoup trop hâte de me plonger dans ma lecture. Et ce huitième tome nous offre encore son lot de surprises. Et c’est ça qui fait toute la force de ce manga, selon moi. On a toujours des surprises avec cette histoire.

Dans ce tome, c’est bientôt les grandes vacances à l’école des démons! Sauf qu’avant de pouvoir profiter il va falloir réviser. En effet, les examens se rapprochent à toute vitesse. Pour Iruma c’est la panique à bord. Déjà qu’il est humain, il ne connaît rien au monde des démons et en plus de ça il a beaucoup de mal dans les différentes matières. Son seul espoir repose sur les épaules de Balam. Un professeur de l’école qui semble en connaître un rayon sur les humains.. Est il une menace au secret de Iruma ou alors un confident potentiel? Il va devoir faire un choix..

J’ai vraiment beaucoup aimé découvrir le professeur Balam. Il est vraiment particulier et au final tous les élèves ne l’aiment pas forcément. Il fait peur à beaucoup de monde. Iruma lui, ne ressent pas ça lorsqu’il est avec lui. Au contraire, c’est bien un des seuls à découvrir la véritable personne que Balam est. J’aime beaucoup la relation qui se met en place entre les deux. Comme Balam en connait un rayon sur les humains, Iruma trouve en lui un potentiel confident. Une vraie amitié se met en place entre le professeur et son élève. J’ai hâte d’en voir plus sur ces deux là, je les aime vraiment beaucoup ensemble.

Par contre, en voyant les élèves aller au parc d’attraction, je ne m’attendais pas le moins du monde à découvrir une fin pareille! Clairement, elle m’a laissé sur le cul. Je sens que la suite va être incroyable à découvrir. Elle promet un tome palpitant et je sens que ça va changer beaucoup beaucoup de choses par la suite. Elle risque vraiment de tout faire basculer. Et j’ai beaucoup beaucoup trop hâte.

Ce volume fait un peu plus tranche de vie avec des conseils sur comment (et l'importance de) étudier en vue d'examens et il ne se passe pas vraiment grand chose narrativement sinon que les liens entre certains personnages se précisent et le professeur Balam fait son entrée.

Points bonus toutefois pour briser la forme de la BD traditionnelle à deux reprises dans ce volume, c'est ludique et ça permet de sortir un peu des cases (jeu de mot intentionel).

I liked that we get to know more about Baram-sensei here because it was cut short in the anime. Also, a shipper of Iruma and Clara over here. This also made me love Kalego-sensei more, especially during the family visits.
