He played 12 Test matches for Australia and was part of the team that won the World Cup at London’s famous Wembley Stadium in 1995.Carroll’s tough reputation is matched only by his honesty. Spudd calls it as he sees it and doesn’t care who he upsets in the process. These qualities caught the eye of actor Russell Crowe, who hired Carroll as his trainer for more than eight years. Spudd’s job was to whip the Oscar-winner into shape for upcoming movie roles. The duo was famous for their heated backyard footy battles, which once left Crowe with a serious leg injury. They remain firm friends.

Being a Manly fan who remembers the 1996 GF triumph as a part of my childhood (and my first Manly jersey was from that 50th Year Anniversary of the Manly Sea Eagles 🦅), I couldn’t go past this book. It was a book that I had to buy, and read. I’m so happy that I have done so!

Spudd is a guy with a truly, unique character and he has many stories to tell. His book contains a story that could appeal to everyone, but especially sports fans, yet he still contains stories about glitz, glammer and rock ‘n’ roll. He also talks about his family and about life.

Definitely a great book for football fans that want to relive the good ol’ days of hard knock football.

I’m a rugby league Diehard and absolutely loved Spudd’s story. Highly recommended for any fan of league- not just a one-eyed Sea Eagle
