Surrender was a very steamy erotic novella. 2 days/nights and all the sex. That’s the pact Yara and Lennox made twelve years ago and now they’re definitely making the best of it. So if you’re in the mood for a quickie then this one delivers on SEX. Plenty of it.

Miss Rilzy Adams said these hoes (read: Nick) look like they are going through a prolonged drought so let me give them the thirsty content their cob-webbed selves deserve. I don't know if Rilzy is finding inspiration for these fictional men she creates in real-life men, but she needs to send one my way because I am tired of being perpetually single and horny.
Anyways, Surrender is a novella is about Yara and Lennox who used to be friends and roommates in college. They made a dare that if they were single X years in the future, they would spend 2 filthy nights together. Well, Lennox is now ready to cash in on that dare. That man used to sweat over Yara and her BAWDY and he is ALL-IN about wanting to show her great time. So off they go to a villa (don't ask me where because pleaseee who remembers locations when there's filthy sex involved), and BANG A LOT. It's steamy AF and when I tell you I was all WARM I'm not even exaggerating. As always, the chemistry is fire even though this is a short novella. The sex scenes are FIRE and there's even some light BDSM. I always love how unapologetic Rilzy's characters are and Yara and Lennox are definitely that.
Surrender is a great palette cleanser between books or you know, if you're just in the mood for something wicked hot to get your groove going. We all deserve that from time to time! This is definitely a book for all the heauxs out there!

The writing at times left a little to be desired and sometimes paragraphs ran on in blocks which hampered the flow of the writing, but honestly, I was here for the smut, so I was able to accept it and move on.
The two leads, Yara and Lennox! They felt so real and true, I felt their history and I felt their unresolved sexual tension from page 1. They have easy chemistry that sizzles off the page.
No drama. No angst. Just short (about ~65 pages?), smutty goodness, with some use of kink (BDSM undertones).

So when Lennox calls that bet in exactly 12 years later, Yara is both surprised and intrigued to meet up. 🔥 He books them a vacation and sends her the flight info!
This was super short but we get enough glimpses/mentions of their past and friendship over the years that the characters felt fleshed out. I totally believed their bond and friendship, which added to their chemistry. A deliciously fun vacation romp, with toys too.

How does Rilzy Adams do super short stories so well?????? She drops us in the middle of a story and it’s so easy to keep up and fall into the plot.

this was my 1st book by Rilzy Adams and not gonna lie, after reading this, i’m kinda hesitant to pick up her other books, cos i wasn’t really a fan of this one…
the characters weren’t all that developed. i didn’t manage to connect with both of them at all. i really wanted to, but i found them to be a bit mundane. i caught myself just reading about them for the sake of it, not because i actually rooted for them or cared for them at all.
the writing style, in my opinion, was highly repetitive. the things they’d done were also told in a way which failed to grip me and make me feel things. again, i just wasn’t feeling it. it was like, stating things he’d done to her and not each thing actually prolonged, properly felt between the characters and their connection explained better to the reader. everything was told on the surface level, if that makes sense. i just failed to really connect with everything.
the plot… there wasn’t much. the best summary is this: “In twelve years unless we’re with other people I’ll fly you somewhere and you’ll give me two nights…” i mean, it was original, but chances of that happening purely for sex lmaoo. regardless of that, again, i didn’t connect with it. it would’ve been a little more interesting if the female character, Yara, was more resistant and made herself harder to get in some way. in any case, it wasn’t a book for me unfortunately.

This sexy short was filled with the pinning I love when reading a friends to lovers and down right filthy when the loving was happening!! Let’s talk about how Rilzy can write a short and make it have a full plot that makes sense. In these few pages, I was invested in the characters and their little pact (if they were both still single after 12 years, they’d meet up to smash each other to smithereens for 2 nights). The steam was 🥵🥵🥵. I’m beginning to realize that I love friends to lovers more than enemies to lovers!

This was a fun read. Yara and Lennox made a drunken pact that in 12 years, if both were still single, that for two nights they would test their physical attraction to each other. And boy did they ever. The short includes some light bdsm themes, but nothing to bad. I enjoyed the fact that they were old friends who rekindled an old torch.

I picked this up immediately after seeing this terrifying yet hilarious image on Nick's review. Her reviews have yet to steer me wrong and I'm glad I picked this up! It was fun, fast and super steamy and the perfect transition read to my next (presumably less erotic) romance.
This is basically about two people who come together to fulfil a sex pact they made after uni. Yara and Lennox promised each other that if they were single after 12 years they'd get together for two nights and wow hey, here they are and it was F-I-R-E! Despite only being 52 pages long, I was still able to get a good feel for both characters' personalities and I loved them. Plus, the chemistry was intense and the sexual tension was almost palpable (serious props to them for not just banging the day away 😂 but whoo, it was worth the build-up, that's for sure)!
I hadn't read anything by Rilzy Adams before this but I'll definitely be looking their books up now!

What’s the star rating that corresponds to “Everything was probably great but I felt nothing”? Because that’s my rating for this one 😅
I wanted to love this! Close friends about to move away from each other promise to meet again in 12 years for a weekend that turns out to be kinky. Kinky friends to lovers is my new favourite trope! And this was a super sex positive, consent-filled version of it.
However, my cold dead heart doesn’t care about the steam if I don’t care about the characters. But I couldn’t connect because I knew nothing about them. The MMC liking to plan things is literally the only character trait we got from these two.
This itty bitty novella took me so long to read because the over-analyzing hamster wheel that is my brain wouldn’t stop. Getting to know these characters was like trying to solve a Sidoku with only one number given to you. I kept thinking “Oh, okay! She likes seafood. So maybe that means she… *stares into space trying to connect seafood to a concrete character trait for five minutes* …nope, that means nothing.”
There was a lot of steam potential. Sex scenes were the main focus of the story, there were lots of toys, Good Girls, and I loved the message that surrender is all about trust. But still, I felt nothing.

Rilzy Adams never disappoints and this quick steamy read is filthy and delightful. 2 friends make a pact to hook up 12 years later if they’re both single and when Lennox comes calling in exactly 12 years, Yara answers and the result is pure sexy delight. More of a HFN than a HEA but it works because the story is pretty short and takes place basically over a couple of days. If you’re looking for fun, frothy, and filthy, this one hits all the right notes.

Although Lennox and Yara finally get their BDSM "fantasy", after 12 years, their story was buried under a 2 day, down and dirty sex scene.
Sorry, I prefer that the sex scenes embellish the story, rather than swallow it up. Uh...no pun intended! Nevertheless, this is MY personal preference. If we all liked the same things, at the same time, life would be pretty boring. So to each his own!

Steamy is an understatement for what Yara and Lennox have going on in this book. When these two friends make a pact in college, they never imagined it would come to fruition. Twelve years later, they've decided it's time to put up or shut up, and let me just say, when they start putting up, you may need a change of underwear. Short and nasty and I loved every page of it!
