Favorite Quotes:

I could use a vicarious thrill; my well has run dry. The last man I dated said he was thirty, but I swear, y’all, if you told me he was really two fifteen-year-old boys stacked up inside of a trench coat, I would believe you.

There were ten different kinds of feels coursing through my body right now and each one had its own sub-list of minor feels just waiting to be categorized and sorted into something that made sense. Ugh! I was like a periodic table of feelings or a horny science project.

I was one hundred percent sure I would be a pain-in-the-ass pregnant woman. Honestly, I was a handful with just a head cold.

It’s just like my great-aunt Belle always used to say— when all else fails, show your boobs… I’ll have you know it’s solid advice. She’s been married, like, eight times. Anyway, we’ll see if it works on you after dinner. For science.

My Review:

This was rollicking good fun from start to finish. I adored these captivating characters and the author’s irreverent and smirk-worthy sense of humor. The storylines were engaging, entertaining, and laced together with clever wit and cheeky observations. Molly was a hot mess and everyone knew it and let her get away with it, she was lucky like that but not so lucky when it came to her love life as no one seemed capable of handling her crazy for more than a handful of dates.

As someone who also requires a hearing aid, I appreciated the author’s understanding and thoughtfulness of including the challenges, limitations, and exasperation of living with hearing loss. I am totally enamored with Garrett and he currently holds the top of the list slot on my list of BBF as he was perfect in every way and so lovely he could only exist in a book.

*Just a reminder that not every book works for ever reader*

I tried with this book. I really did.

I love that the heroine was a disability rep, her joy at fun clothes, and her being her unapologetic loud mouth rambling self.

What I struggled with, was how she repeatedly ran away from the hero. Most of the time physically. It happened three or four times, or more, I lost track. I felt Molly and Garrett had the same conversation on how she wouldn’t run away, and just talk to her. And then five pages later she would do it over again. In summary, I did not like Molly. And I felt Garrett deserved better.

Nora Everly sure knows how to write a sweet romance. Unfortunately, this one was just a bit too much for me - which is sad, because I LOVE the friends to lovers trope.

Garret and Molly were childhood best friends, but time led them to drift apart. He left Green Valley to join the army, but always knew he would one day come back to join the family business. When he does, Molly and he start to reconnect.

This is a very mellow and sweet story, but Garret just seemed too perfect, and Molly had just weird reservations about him and their romance. Honestly, at some point, it was just infuriating.

There's also a bunch of side characters and quirky situations, but they just failed to captivate me.

There are definitely some good ideas sprinkled here and there, and while there's nothing particularly wrong with Hotshot and Hospitality, it just fell a bit flat.

Thank you so much Smartypants Romance for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Hotshot and Hospitality by Nora Everly

‘“You’re beautiful, Molly,” Garrett answered, his eyes hot on my face. He reached out, gathering the strands at my shoulder, letting it sift through his fingers as he pulled his hand away. I exhaled as my hair drifted softly against my neck. We’d always had a certain way we had acted around each other and this was not that way. Never before had his voice been this deep and gravelly when he addressed me. Never had his gaze drifted from my eyes to my mouth and back up like it did just now. But most of all- never had I wanted his eyes on me like this. Not only want it, but like it, crave it, contemplate ways to seek it out.

I was in trouble.’

Every time I get lost in a Nora Everly romance, I always, always, always come away from it feeling slightly euphoric. Her books are so consistently beautiful, not only in the positive message each story tries to convey and the sparkling romance that transpires, but simply by how wonderfully they are written. Full of substance, of boundless elements of love, a little bit of drama and a whole lot of laugh-out-loud moments, moments that take the sting out of the more subtle but no less powerful scenes. This author is the queen of balancing a scene. Knowing her audience. Building anticipation or invoking sympathy or escalating sexual tension. Nora Everly uses her words like magic tools, all in order to extract a smile, grin, eye roll, scoff or lustful sigh out of her readers.

Author Nora Everly has once again delivered a truly bewitching, feel-good, best-friends-to-lovers romance that manages to be heartfelt, sweet, passionate and full of wisdom, fun, clarity and love.

Our two main protagonists of Hotshot and Hospitality bring about very different, yet very positive aspects to the romance and the overall storyline. Where Molly is more reserved, a little shy and a tad insecure, she is also incredibly quirky, courageous, wonderfully loyal, unerringly kind and contending with heartbreak as well as profound hearing loss. Her one-liners and inner musings are at times downright hilarious and slightly outrageous, adding some beautiful comedic elements to the tale. I love how Nora obviously did ample research with Molly’s hearing loss. It was written with sensitivity, knowledge and awareness. It may have been a part of Molly, an integral part, but she didn’t let it define her or hinder her, she powered through, found strength and soldiered on with her life. She was simply darling.

Now I don’t know what’s in the water down in Green Valley, Tennessee but those Monroe men sure are one resplendent, enticing and impressive brood. Thanks to Nora’s uncanny ability to strip her characters down to the bare bone, exposing all of their weaknesses, strengths, emotions and hopes, you find out pretty quickly that Garrett Monroe is so much more than just a tempting morsel of an ex-Marine who is very good with his hands. Garrett is this incredibly charming, lovable, sexy, sweet guy, whose choices in life have shaped and changed him into something else entirely. He longs for stability, for love and a home. Who better to explore the possibility of a forever love with, than our girl Molly.

Nora Everly has a champion of a book on her hands. A truly multifaceted hero and a well-rounded heroine with integrity and spirit- both with tremendous hearts. This book is so remarkably well written that you will immediately get swept up in all of the drama, angst, romance, laughs and engaging dialogue. It’s one of those books that you really don’t want to end. But as you reach that butterfly inducing conclusion you kind of don’t mind too much.

2.5* It seriously hurts my feelings to rate this book this low because I loved the first 2 books in this series, and I love the author as a person, but this book just didn't work for me. I really strive to be honest and objective in my reviews, so I won't change that now - but it sucks.

My biggest issue was the heroine and her immaturity. I normally like a quirky character, and I love the disability rep with her hearing impairment, but her constant running (some figurative, but mostly literal) was just too much. Garrett was absolutely perfect (like almost too much so) and far too understanding and patient with her behavior. I just kept thinking that he deserved so much better than Molly and how she treated him (p.s. I volunteer as tribute! Just saying...). I found myself skipping whole passages because I was just so annoyed with Molly and the repetitive running (right after telling Garrett she'd talk to him when she freaked out).

I did listen to a live where the author says Molly was more or less written that way intentionally - like her emotional maturity stopped progressing after her father's death when she was a teenager. I do get that concept, but it was just too much to be enjoyable for me.

I have loved all the books in the Green Valley Library series that is part of the SmartyPants Romance world. I’ve especially enjoyed the ones by Nora Everly so far, as I adore the Monroe brothers. This next Monroe brother did not disappoint me at all.

Molly was really cute and a lot of fun, and reminded me of myself in some of her silly ways of talking and combining words, etc. One example was when she thought that she “flirt-smirked” and shortened it to “flirked”. I loved her being a little thing, again, I’m very short myself. I loved how she liked to wear fun clothes, dresses with cats on them, it just sounds like something I’d do, only instead of cats I’d have dachshunds.

And I loved all of their families. I liked how at least one of the mean girls that we thought we should hate turned out to be someone real and you had to give her a little credit and feel like maybe she wasn’t as bad. To me that is realistic. Although there was the one mean girl that probably has a back story, but it is still hard to like her much even at the end of this one, just feel sorry for her mostly.

This was a cute, sweet, steamy, fun read! The only reasons I knocked it down to 4 stars instead of 5 were two things. One, I think Molly was being overly ridiculous about dragging out keeping it a secret. Two, I would have maybe liked a little more of Garrett’s back story from when he was in the military maybe? Oh, and I guess maybe a third thing. At times I kind of forgot Molly was deaf, it was almost like it only stuck out at certain points where it was necessary for the story, I don’t know. Maybe that’s just because I was speeding through the story to find out what would happen. But I loved it nevertheless!

Can’t wait for the last brother’s story, and actually, I wonder if we might get some cousins or other relatives stories from this author. There was one part where the girls were talking about all the different Monroe boys and relatives and other possibly eligible men, and all I could think was that I wished Green Valley was a real place where I could go grab my own Monroe man, since all the Winston brothers are now taken.

This is one of the "he was there all along," type romances. Our heroine and hero grew up together and have been best friends forever. Then a few changes in their lives made them grow apart. Now they are both single and ready to notice each other again. Sounds sweet, but when you add the joys of Green Valley you get the extra hilarity. Also, this is another story that is Library-adjacent since neither of these characters work in the library. Hey, it's a small town, they can only employ so many people at the library.
Excellent story with lots of fun side characters. Some of them have already had their stories and others have stories yet to come.

Nora Everly has a very beautiful writing, soft and dynamic at the same time. Her stories are bubbly, funny and adorable. Her heroes (men) are more than perfect.
Hotshot and Hospitality is a lovely romance with lots of humor in our beloved Green Valley. We find there all the characters of the previous books written by Nora, as well as new ones.
Molly is a young woman who accumulates failed relationships with men. Apparently she's driving them away, but the problem is deeper than that. She knows the consequences of losing a loved one and everything in her behavior is the result. Her fears and the fact that she refuses to talk about what hurts her make her life complicated.
She prefers running away, which is understandable when you know her past but I found that she runs away too much and too often. Our hero, Garrett is excessively patient. He's honest, understanding, loyal, and trustworthy, but it seems that's never enough. What's more, even though Molly is funny, she is sometimes too immature. What could have been adorable is too much of an exaggeration.
Garrett and Molly grew up together, they were bff when little but they have grown apart over the years. Garrett left Tennessee for the army, he returned a few years later. Molly and Garrett get closer again but the chemistry and attraction are there right away. Their relationship is very beautiful, very real, they are friends and lovers.
There are a lot of secondary characters around them, very colorful, very crazy characters ... In the two previous books, I found this joyful and pleasant, but here it was too much. Molly being childish and wacky herself, it would have been smarter in my opinion, to have fewer characters in this style. Once again, it could have been funny but in the end, it was too much ... Another small problem: the first names. Garrett and his brothers have first names that look alike, I got used to them, but here we also have female characters who have slightly similar first names. Too many secondary characters AND with first names that look alike, it's easy to get lost.
I liked the story itself, there are good ideas (like Molly's hearing problem), the characters are endearing, Garrett is perfect (too much), but finally, at times I wanted to skip sentences or even passages.
In short, this book is cute but not my favorite of the series.

I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest review.

"4 - You don't have to be healed to be loved, Stars!"

PUBLICATION DATE: September 28, 2021

This is a wonderfully written small-town romance about two childhood best friends who find themselves in a situation where they share one kiss that has them thinking there might be more than just friendship between the two of them.

I really love the friends-to-lovers trope.
I love the history, the friendship foundation, the already established trust, and of course the constant worry of "what if this doesn't work out" will our friendship survive or will it be awkward, or lost forever?

Molly and Garrett were sweet together.
I loved Molly's quirky character (her internal dialogue was really funny), her shyness, and her loyalty and the love she has for those she claims as her own.

Garrett was just an amazingly patient and kind character.
He was perfect for Molly and he understood and listened to her fears and respects why she acts the way she does.

The growth of their relationship from friends to lovers was a great read and a wonderful journey.
Molly and Garrett's chemistry was believable and I really enjoyed their story.

3.5 Stars! This is one of those friends to lovers romances that everyone sees before the couple. Garrett and Molly were best friends for years and then tragedy and life choices separated them. Now that they are single and back in the same town, everyone is rooting for them.

Garrett Monroe is my new book boyfriend! He is so amazing in this book. Molly struggles to trust anyone enough to be in a relationship with them and pushes everyone away so they don’t get close enough to hurt her.

Garrett might get the award for the most patient boyfriend-in-hiding ever. I also felt a little bad for him because he never seems to get the benefit of the doubt form Molly, even though he is nothing but honest and trustworthy. Garrett is always thinking of Molly and her potential reactions and she is always running away.

I very much enjoyed hammock time with the couple, and I was super happy with the ending. I loved how the conflict was resolved for Molly and Garrett.

I received an advance reader copy of this book and these are my honest opinions.

I loved everything about this book. Molly Cooper is my new favorite heroine from the Green Valley universe. Nora Everly managed to make her inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time. Her story spoke to me like no other character’s has. And Garrett Monroe is the man you dream about at night. Swoony, patient, funny, charming….he’s the total package. Highly recommend this and all the Monroe Brothers books.

This was really cute. Friends to lovers is a favorite troupe of mine and this was a good one. Molly's hesitancy did start to get on my nerves, but Garrett was the absolute SWEETEST! IDK what it was about this one, but this may be my favorite of the Monroe brothers.

Green Valley library is the place it seems to fall in love ! Having enjoyed my previous visit to the library. I was strapped in for this romance. As Molly and Garrett try to keep things a secret and figure out what they want. Molly is adorable awkward and doesn't let her problems stop her. Until Garrett helps her and changes the status quo. This was fun all round romance and it's was in a small town that seems to have more then plenty of busy bodies and romance happening. So it was about time Molly got her turn and Garrett was the perfect man for her. They had their own traits that brought out the best in each in other and it was fun watching them sneak around.

Hellloooooo Whiplash.

Seriously. The whiplash is real with this one for me.

I still enjoyed it, liked/loved the cast of zany, big hearted characters.

But WOW.

Garrett and Molly. These two. Garrett first. He’s a great guy and has the patience of a saint..most of the time. He’s charm up the wazzu and though he had a few things to work through, I just really liked him. Molly. Not gonna lie. The girl gave me whiplash. She is sweet, sassy, chaotic and I loved how much she loved those she called her own. I could empathize with her loss and more or less understand why she believed what she did. BUT...I would go into detail on that, but I can’t/won’t. Let’s just say that Molly is her own worst enemy.

I’m sure you can already tell that their journey to their relationship was a true rollercoaster for me, and it was, because despite the push/pull, wishy/washy chaos of it all, I truly believed that they were meant to be with each other. The just had a flow, even when things were awkward that had me rooting for them from the start.

I’ve read all of the the author’s books set in the Pennyverse world and have enjoyed them all, but while Molly did give me the most whiplash, I gotta say, trying to remember who all the supporting cast of characters were and who they “belonged” to also gave me whiplash, so I stopped trying and just enjoyed the crazy ride for what it was. So, if you have a love of small town romances (especially ones where EVERYONE is up in everyone else’s business) and don’t mind a heavy dose of push/pull, then this is definitely a must click for you.

This childhood friends to lovers story was a fun read.

Garrett and Molly were best friends, but drifted apart. Then, Garrett jumps in to help Molly after she is stood up. They quickly find themselves with a fake relationship and a very real mutual attraction. Throw in some trust issues, family opinions, and getting to know each other as adults, and things get complicated.

I liked how Garrett and Molly found their way together after being friends for so many years. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and it's really nicely done here.

I have read all the books Nora has written for the Green Valley Library series and this is my favorite so far!

I just love a trip to Green Valley. It is my favorite book town escape. I am a Knoxville, TN girl, and it just makes me happy to read about a place so close to home. I loved Garrett and Molly's story. The Monroe Boys are so swoon worthy. This story did not disappoint, but Nora Everly never ceases to amaze me. I love how rich and real her characters are. Garrett was in it for the long haul he gave Molly exactly what she needed to overcome her fear of loss. The HEA was so sweet and fulfilling.

This was a beautiful, funny, sweet and moving read.

"Something about him had always felt like a dare - exciting and fun."

Molly Cooper and Garrett Monroe were the best of friends growing up, until Molly's father died when she was fifteen. After that, she drifted away from Garrett and then he joined the Marines. He's been back in Green Valley for four years but has failed to rebuild his lost friendship with Molly, until he rescues her from a failed date, and kisses her to help her save face. Suddenly, Molly is feeling all sorts of things for her erstwhile best friend - feelings that both scare and excite her. In turn, Garrett is determined to be in her life, one way or another, and he'll go at whatever pace to ensure this happens.

"My whole world, the air in my lungs, the beat of my heart, every thought in my head centred around her at this moment and I didn't want it to stop."

I simply ADORED Garrett. He was the best of men. He was patient, good-humoured, caring and thoughtful. And, let's not forget that he was also charming, sexy and swoony as hell. All his intentions were good and he continually strived to accommodate Molly and her fears. I loved that he was very obviously a manly guy, but he was also soft and vulnerable inside. Molly was a hoot. She was genuine but a little bit of crazy! I loved that she had no filter, and I also loved that when she knew she was wrong about something, she owned up to it. My heart hurt for her sorrow and her refusal to deal with her fears, doubts and grief. However, I loved the way she rewarded Garrett's patience in a big way. These two were made for each other - they complemented the other and had chemistry for days. This was a fantastic, funny and emotional read. I absolutely loved it!

It's a well-known thing I love Penny Reid and her Winston Brothers series so much that I wouldn't miss a chance to read anything new related to Green Valley and the main characters.

But as in any world, there are so many great other things to discover in that world. And Nora Everly gives us Garrett and Molly.

Two opposites that attract and are to be together. They both have to grow throughout the story and overcome many obstacles, such as belief in themselves that they are worth more and while the loss of hearing is a part of Molly, it's not what makes her as a whole person.

Beautiful story with lots of trials for a well deserved happily ever after.

Nora Everlys sure know how's to write a swoony worthy hero. I think I might love Garrett more than I dod Everett 🙈🙈. This is a darling friends to lovers romance. While I thought Molly was sweet and quirky her indecision was a bit exhausting which I find is usually apart of the friends to lovers trope. There was some typical ex drama but overall I really enjoyed this one and I won't be forgetting Garrett anytime soon🥰

I was so excited to be back in Green Valley and revisit such wonderful characters. Molly and Garret are the new couple finding their way through love and chaos. Molly is loud, eccentric and absolutely real, and Garret is a sweetheart with so much understanding for Mollys antics you can’t help but love him. They complement is other so well in this books that I couldn’t help but love them as a couple just as much as I did individually. The families add just that final touch of realism and it all adds up to a great book. I couldn’t put this book down and I’m already hoping the next one comes soon.

Y'all, from the first chapter I was hooked and completely loved everything about Hotshot and Hospitality. From Molly's irrationality to Garrett's never-ending patience with her, to all of the Green Valley easter eggs, to the large loud families, it was exactly what I needed.

I have never ever felt so seen, the only person better at jumping to irrational conclusions than Molly is me. She was frustrating and hilarious and real and I love her so much. Despite Molly's high drama tendencies, this was a pretty low drama read, Garrett was the calm in the storm to balance her out. The dialogue and pacing are on point, and the slow burn almost killed me. I was laughing on one page and tearing up on the next. This is one of the best books I've read this year, it's complete perfection. I can not wait to see what happens next with this large, loud, crazy family.

Like a tonic, Nora Everly’s sublime storytelling is everything you didn’t know you needed in your next read. Heart-warming, funny and at times heart-breaking, Garrett and Molly’s story hits every swoony note as they navigate the tricky waters of former childhood best friends (insert family trauma and subsequent drifting apart here) with what seems to have always been destined. Just because it’s obvious to the residents of Green Valley and meddling family members however, doesn’t mean Molly isn’t going to do her dang best to sabotage her own happiness, am I right ladies? I mean, scoop in a ladle of grief, denial, exes and over-the-hill high school mean girls and you have a recipe for disaster but fear not, with Becky Lee and her cupid’s crossbow always at the ready, not to mention the hilarious antics of the rest of the Monroe family, the Hill sisters and introducing Molly’s clan (old family friends of the Monroe’s) you’ll find yourself caught up, enjoying every delicious word along the way. Be advised: I found myself slowing down my reading several times in order to delay finishing too quickly!
It’s not necessary to have read Sabrina and Wyatt’s story, nor Everett and Willa’s in order to enjoy Garrett and Molly’s adventures in ‘undating’ though why you would deny yourself the pleasure, I do not know. I couldn’t recommend this series enough. I definitely can't wait for Sadie and Barrett's story!

If you are looking for a book with all the feels look no further. Hotshot and Hospitality will have you tearing up. Hotshot and Hospitality will have you laughing. Hotshot and Hospitality will have you believing in true love, soulmates and happily ever after. Be prepared for a book coma. Be prepared to not want to move on. I know first hand. I finished yesterday and writing this review means I have to move on. I don't want to move on.

I would like to thank the brilliance of Penny Reid. Because of her Smartypants Romance Publishing, fans get lots and lots of stories that take place in Green Valley. Because of Smartypants Romance, readers have been able to meet different authors.

Hotshot and Hospitality is one of those books. Nora Everly is one of those authors. On a side note; it is too bad I can't figure out a way to get donuts from Daisy's Nuthouse. I can't get a banana cake either. At least I get to visit with characters from past stories.

Hotshot and Hospitality is the story of Garrett Monroe, one of the sons in Monroe and Sons Construction, and Molly Cooper. They were childhood best friends that became separated by tragedy and fear. They belong together. Everyone sees it but them.

Molly and Garrett are their own worst enemies. Silence is the enemy. Communication is the key. Hotshot and Hospitality is their journey to forever. The reader is just along for a wild ride.
