Alex Banik, Polish Immigrant / Black Marketeer solicits retired Chicago School Teacher, Scott Benton, to rob ruthless Norman Manners, owner of a cash rich scrap metal business. Alex Banik, the bastard son of a powerful Polish Black Marketeer, is sent to the United States just prior to WWll. His father's parting words, "Family first at all costs." Alex becomes an American Black Marketeer and follows the code. Scott Benton received one of two coveted scholarships awarded annually to a prestigious private school. Graduates are likely to be renown people in all walks of life. Benton teaches inner city middle school for thirty-four years and retires with a full pension. By his own admission he squandered his intellect and opportunity fearing risk-taking and failure. Norman Manners is born twelve years after his two older brothers. He is a mistake and neglected. He is bright, troubled and capable of violence. He quits college to work in a scrap metal business. A perceived betrayal by the owner provokes an extortion plot and the successful takeover of the business. Norman also has a code.
