After stumbling onto a bank robbery, Sheriff Cal Stanek and paramedic Abby Marshall are taken captive. But their biggest concern is the third hostage—a pregnant teller in labor. Escape is essential, especially when they learn the robbery’s a cover for a kidnapping…and only they can save the newborn. But the only thing more deadly than a criminal inside is the winter storm raging outside…
This was a fun and exciting story. Watching Abby and Cal trying to outrun kidnappers with a newborn in a blizzard made for some pretty exciting moments. Quick, easy and enjoyable!
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Rescue on the Run. Jaycee is a fairly new author for LIS but I really enjoy her work. I look forward to her next book. This one is well-written, action-packed, and full of suspense. I know you are going to love it.
Paramedic Abby Marshall comes to the bank to find it is locked. She stands there trying to get their attention since it isn't closing time. She receives a call and is talking to her Social Worker when the Sheriff arrives. She is drawn to the man but has no attention to becoming involved. He bumps her and she drops her phone. It falls into the slush, soaking wet. The Sheriff bends over to help with the phone.
Sheriff Cal Stanek comes to the bank. What is going on? Why is it closed? As he bent down to take the phone he sees something lying on the floor of the bank. A man's body lay there. He sends Abby to his truck as he goes to the back of the bank. Both are captured. One of the other captives is a pregnant woman about to give birth.
A horrific journey as the baby arrives, a bomb is about to explode, and they are forced out in the wilderness in the middle of a storm. God has a plan for these two broken souls, a plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a plan for peace and not for destruction. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life, even in this time of turmoil.
I definitely believe this is a five star. The characters and plot stayed fast moving from the first paragraph. This is my first Jaycee Bullard book and it won't be my last. Cal is a stern protector and Abby is a mixture of confident paramedic and sweet adopting mother on the inside. They have both been hurt by life. They are both Christians so they have the same values. Their lives collide on a trip to the local bank. What they think is a bank robbery, turns into a kidnapping and murder plot. Fantastic
This book was quite good !!!!! This book read like a mystery movie with a love story mixed in.
This story starts off in a bank where there is an attempted kidnapping and heist. There is a guy in this story named Cal Stanek who is a Sheriff. He stumbles into a bank robbery along with a female paramedic named Abby Marshall. Cal and Abby are taken hostage inside of a bank. The biggest concern for Cal and Abby is the third hostage who is a pregnant bank teller in labor. Cal and Abby come to learn that the robbery is a cover for a kidnapping. Only Cal and Abby can save the newborn in the middle of a winter storm outside.
The relationship between Cal and Abby gets more and more developed throughout the story. Abby is adopting a young boy which you learn in the story. You also learn that Abby and Cal were being setup by others that knew them. This story had plenty of action, mystery and a love story that kept you turning the pages to find out what would happen next. I really enjoyed reading this book.
Abby Marshall is a paramedic in a small town in North Dakota. She arrives at Keystone Bank to find the doors locked which she finds off. Sheriff Cal Stanek arrives at the bank and sees a body in the floor. Both of them end up as hostages with a very pregnant bank teller. They soon realize there is more to this crime than robbery. With a winter storm raging outside Cal knows he must do his duty to save everyone. Action is constant in this book! You will be gritting your death and holding your breath! Faith and the will to survive are essential!
A very easy to read, clean story that is suspenseful and exciting while we watch Cal and Abby take care of a newborn baby while trying the escape accidents, gunshots, lake of sleep and food. At the same time, Cal and Abby who have known each other for some time, but it was not until they were forced to be together 24/7, they had to learn to work together and the trust each other. As is typical of these Love Inspired stories, all is well that ends well. This is just a real delightful story. Thanks to the author for her time and talent.
I loved this book. It was fast paced till the very last page. Sheriff Cal and paramedic Abby just happened to be at the bank during a robbery. They were both taking as hostages. They were locked in a room with Isobel who was 9 months pregnant. Thankfully Abby stayed calm under pressure. She was a fantastic paramedic and worked with what she had. This book will have your heart racing, and wondering how the 4 make it out alive. The bank robbers were set on taking them out. Cal was also great on thinking outside the box and doing what he had too, in order to keep Abby, Isobel and her son alive.
Loved this book, a first by this author but definitely not my last. Mystery and suspense from the first chapter. A trip to the bank started the race for Sheriff Cal and paramedic Abby to save a pregnant friend, and fight against a snow storm to thwart a would be killer. This story has murder, attempted murder, robbery and a HEA. Kudos to the author👏👏👏👏👏👏
I read it all in one sitting because the plot and the excellent characters sucked me in! Both protagonists were strong and virtuous but also true-to-life in their flaws and misunderstandings. Jaycee Bullard shows that love is exciting and unexpected but that it is also hard work and requires self-sacrifice. I'm hoping for a sequel as I didn't get nearly my fill of Cal and Abby!
I liked this book a lot. The main characters were realistic and believable, and the plot is laden with plenty of surprising twists. There is humor here, too, which I really appreciated, especially in the banter between the hero and heroine. The suspense builds throughout the story, and it's not much of a spoiler to say that there is a happy ending.
This engaging story will capture your interest from the first page to the last. The Sheriff Cal Stanek and paramedic Abby Marshall are taken captive during a bank robbery and manage to escape with another hostage and her newborn baby boy. They are all forced to run for their lives - in a snowstorm!
This is a fast paced suspense book that is very will written.
Wow! What an adrenaline rush! Jaycee Bullard has a well written story full of action and suspense! Sheriff Cal Stanek meets paramedic Abby Marshall on the steps of the local bank just before closing time. Something isn’t quite right. A dead bank guard, a pregnant teller in labor, and Cal and Abby taken hostage. What will they have to do to get out of this scary situation?
This story kept me completely intrigued. It was a total page turner. It was exciting to see how the characters were going to escape their pursuers and keep the baby safe. How was God going to provide a way out?
I like the story and characters of this small town and how everyone works together. I especially like the fact God is a central character that all turn to during goid and bad times.
a very good suspense story, she goes into the bank and finds a dead body the sheriff comes in also and they try to find out what is going on. then they find the lady bank tiller in the break room and in labor. then they have to hide from the men who are there, this is a good story
This is the first time I read a book by this author and I have to say that I absolutely enjoyed this book! From start to finish this book kept me entertained. I couldn't put it down! I read it in one day! It was that good!
started off slow for me but picked up and before I knew it I was invested in the story. I liked the characters and the over all plot. Not my favorite but an enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half. Recommended? Sure Buy/Borrow? Borrow.
I read it over two days and had planned to savor it over several, but just couldn’t put it down! It’s a riveting tail told with lots of heart and suspense. Simply loved both characters.
This was an unforgettable book. I know it is one I will want to read again. I have hot read any books by this author but plan to in the future. It was a sit on the edge of your seat suspense.
