Kelsie is a sucker for a love story with all the feels. When she's not chasing words for her next book, you will probably find her reading or, more likely, hanging out with her husband and playing with her three kiddos who love to drive her crazy.
She adores photography, baking, her yorkie, Bob, and her devon rex, Mara. And now that she's actively pursuing her writing dreams, she's set her sights on someday finding the self-discipline to not binge-watch an entire series on Netflix in one sitting.
For those of you familiar with Kelsie Rae's work you have come to expect heart warming, gentle, romantic and beautifully written HEAs with people who feel like family by the end.
With Luke she takes a slight twist in that this time she writes a novella which is really a prequel to the wonderfully written novel Liv.
In Luke, she provides the backstory for Adam and Liv but more importantly she provides the angst conflict and troubled world of Luke. This page turner will have you putting off your chores as you whip through this world and so much which is hinted at in Liv is explained. You will be reunited with the characters of the signature sweetheart series including Breezy (who has her own novel in the series).
Kelsie delivers, as always, another winner. In Luke you will experience the joys and the pain of the likable, relate able lead who is swoon worthy yet principled and oozes integrity. Luke is a true treasure for those who had not yet enjoyed Liv (I highly recommend reading these two like a duet in order).
Another amazing read by a truly remarkable author. One-click this one today.
Another awesome book by this author. I'm in love with this series. Unlike the rest of the series that are standalones you need to read Liv before reading this one.
Reading Luke's point of view after reading Liv was awesome. So much made a bit more sense, not to say it didn't before, but just clarity on his emotions. I love hearing how Luke felt as a young guy meeting Liv and how he dealt with everything that lead up to him leaving. You really get into his head as to where he was at with Liv and Adam.
A wonderful addition to the Signature Sweethearts series. I love that we get the back story of Adam, Liv and Luke. Helps you get into the series just make sure you read it before you read Liv to get the full impact of Adam, Luke and Liv. This is a quick read that will pull at your heartstrings some. I loved this one and the series as a whole.
Luke is a story about young love and the decisions that are made that determine the path you put your life on. This is the prequel to Liv’s story and brings us the insight on the relationship between Liv, Matt and Luke and how best friends and the girl they both love find their futures yet still question their decisions.
Reading Luke's point of view after reading Liv was awesome. So much made a bit more sense, not to say it didn't before, but just clarity on his emotions. I really enjoyed this look at the couple and how it all started. Great job!
Ahhhh when I read Liv earlier this year I was dying to get more of Luke especially back in hs so I could see how him and Liv's friendship was but also Adam's and his! And boom the author delivered! Loved seeing this side of things!
LUUUUUKKKKKEEEEEEEE! I COULD NEVER be in his shoes. My jealous ass would’ve been going insane. Just shows how strong of a person he is and his TRUE character. I’m glad I got more insight between him and Adam, but can’t say I like Adam any more than before. He’s still a dick. Not forgiven in my eyes.
Love Luke's point of view! Ashley @ Carolina Chic's Read
Love hearing how Luke felt as a young guy meeting Liv and how he dealt with everything that lead up to him leaving! Need to read this if you have read Liv!!!!
I loved Luke's POV. You really get into his head as to where he was at with Liv and Adam. Which only makes him that much more attractive with what he did and why. You need to read this book and series. So good.
Another great read from Kelsie Rae! I loved Luke and it was great to read his POV especially after reading LIV. I would suggest reading the two back to back. It’s gives a lot of background on Luke and Adam and what leads up to Luke leaving. I read it in one sitting during a snow day while off from school. Gotta love snow days and a GREAT book! You’ve done it again Kelsie! Well done!
Got this book for free and actually read it before Liv. I didn't feel like it took away from anything or confused me reading it out of order. If anything, I liked that I got to know Luke and understand him and his feelings before getting in to Liv. It helped me understand why he did what he did for her.

Luke . . . my poor sweet Luke. Yeah even before I read this I knew he was a stand up guy who put his friendship before his heart. Reading this just cemented why out of the entire series his story touched my heart so. In true sweetheart style this author rips your heart out giving us Luke's view of the hows and whys. It may be short but this author packs a wallop in this story. If you have ever been on his side of the coin you can't help but feel for him. I love this series. It's always nice when an author gives you a calgon take me away moment yet allows room for your imagination to flow. I have loved every book and yes I have my favorites but it doesn't matter because I'm sure that one way or another this author will replace them before she's done. Great read and while they are all standalone reads I am kinda glad that I didn't start the series until Marcus story had been told. I not only found me a couple of book boyfriends I found an author who writes stories I can easily connect to, that make me want more. Awesome read and series.
I actually liked this book better than it’s companion book Taking the Chance. There was more depth to the characters. More emotion. More conne tion. Adam was a complete and total tool and I don’t believe for one second he a tually loved her or he wouldn’t have cheated on her. Soeaking of which? What is wrong with guys? Why do they have to overreact and cheat when they think the girlfriend is doing it? Why not just have a conversation? Also, I don’t understand why he is still with her if he has been thinking for months about breaking up with her. Then he blames Luke for cheating?! Seriously?! I don’t blame Luke for leaving. I would’ve done it too. This is book is short, only about sixty pages but it reads really quickly and you do get more insight to the characters. If I had to do it again, I would’ve read this book first because it would’ve explained some of the issues I had with the companion book.

This novella helped me understand a bit more Luke's and Adam's feelings for Liv in high school. The love triangle was a bit overused, but you could tell both men really loved Liv for who she was. Adam's reasoning for why he made the mistake mentioned in the previous book wasn't good, but he knew it and admitted it to himself and to Luke. I like that it wasn't okay and nothing he could say would make it okay. Luke's part was sad sometimes since I wanted to shake the guy into action, but I understand why he didn't make a move.
This is only part of the story and I guess a prequel of sorts. I found it hard to connect with Liv without getting her POV and I wasn't a fan of Adam at all. Not for the big secret reason, it was mostly to do with how he reacted to his mother. Yes she was toxic but his thinking when he finally spoke to her about the inheritance was also toxic, delighting in how she'd react badly to it. He just came across as spineless in general and obviously didn't trust Liv or Luke. Not sure I want to read more about Liv & Luke if I'm honest so might stop here.
I always love it when I get the backstory to the original story. That was this with Luke's story. We find out why he really left early for college, what his fight with Adam was about, and what secret it was that he was keeping for Adam. Luke was hurting the whole time he watched his best friend love the one girl he couldn't have.
I loved this one the most from the series so far, I really wanted to read Lukes side since I read Livs story, the love this boy felt was truly inspiring, we all have our crushes but to still hold that candle so many years later, (read Livs story) is truly beautiful, Yes I am crying, you're gonna too.
Having read “Liv” and knowing how their story ends, it was still hard to read about Luke’s heartbreak and Adam’s betrayal. You definitely need to read “Liv” so this book doesn’t break your heart. The author does a good job of drawing out emotions.
This is Luke's short little story about when him and his best friend Adam met and both fell in love with Liv. Adam got the girl. Luke was on the background as the best friend to them both. Love it.
I knew I hated Adam. This story just reiterated it for me. Luv should have never ended up with him. Like was clearly too good of a friend. Read this one after LIV and you will see what I mean.
A good back story of Luke and Adam. Made me want to cry of all the heartbreak Luke went through as a teenager, but glad he got his happily ever after in Liv.
