This is one of the few books in Tamil that approaches Gandhi in a scholarly manner. First started as a simple questions and answers about misinformation about Gandhi, then expands to his philosophy, his effect in Indian tradition, politics and social life. Jeyamohan read about Gandhi extensively (he provides references about the books he read) and distills it to the readers in an objective manner. Gandhi’s plus, minus, quirks all are discussed here.
The essays to reread were his interactions with Ambedkar in dalit politics, Gandhian nationlism and the self-rule.
This book will open the doors for you to read about Gandhi and my suggestion will be to start reading the reference books Jeyamohan suggested (comes to almost 20, excluding 100 volumes of Gandhi’s writings).
A must read for Tamilians.
