By the time I got to chapter 3 in this book I began to feel as if I were being sold but I decided to read it to the end to see if I was wrong. Each chapter is written by a different author and ends with each author's website and bio. The reader is invited to check out each author's website to explore that author's teaching or message further and several of the author's offer free advice or "gifts". However, the offerings quickly turn into the reader getting bombarded with daily e-mails to buy books, seminars or to pay to learn how to be a transformational leader/author. I wonder if the readers who gave this book 5 stars read the entire book because chapters 19 and 20 which were written by a prostitute and academic college counselor wrote chapters on how to keep your husband out of a call girl's bed and how often to communicate to your kid going off to college to ensure they learn to live autonomously, respectively. These chapters have nothing to do with finding your purpose in life and seem completely out of place in a book on that topic. I gave this book two stars because I did find Jane Cavanaugh's free passion discovery worksheet and sample elements list helpful. The chapter that inspired me the most was Inger Pols' because I am on a health kick right now. She does offer several items for free and I could opt out of getting her newsletter and still get the free health article on sugar and her free ebook. Her new profession as an "integrative holistic health coach" sounded intriguing so I looked to see where she got certified and I was very excited when I searched the Institute for Integrative Nutrition's website because they seemed to be very transparent in their offering except when it came to the cost of tuition. After inquiry further on the school's online chat I found the cost of tuition is $5,995. However, I later found a YouTube video made by one of their graduates saying you can get deals, discounts and scholarships. There was a lot of criticism about the school by employees, former teaching speakers and a medical doctor that dashed my hopes of it being the real deal. I am very disappointed that self-help books have now become an advertising ploy completely empty and void of any real useful tools, advice or inspiration. It is a sad day in the book industry. To make matters worse the book ends with one last sales pitch to become one of these "transformational" sales pitch authors and yet another website.
