Outcasts.
Daniel James found a house haunting. It was something he had searched his whole life for. When he found it, it had terrified him. It had scared him so much that he killed himself.

Only, he didn’t kill himself. He remembers shooting himself in the head and then waking in the hospital. A slight graze is the only evidence.

After destroying the house, he thought it was over. He thought it would end. His nightmares had only just begun.

Wilson’s dynamic writing style is so absorbing, it’s almost impossible to put this down. I honestly felt the hairs on my arms going up several times, even as I laughed out loud at some of the darkly humorous cynicism sprinkled throughout the prose.
Thoroughly enjoyed, and I’ll be reading more of Lee Wilson’s work - pronto.

I liked the way Outcasts weaves together different strands of horror — haunting, possession, the supernatural — without ever becoming predictable. That clever mix kept me on my toes, never quite sure what I was dealing with or what was coming next. It made the story feel fresh, unpredictable and thoroughly enjoyable.

The writing is sharp, intelligent and often darkly funny, with humour woven into some wonderfully bleak moments. The characters are relatable, human, flawed and believable, which made it easy to get invested in what was happening to them.

The pacing was another big win for me. It’s fast-paced without feeling rushed, and there are plenty of twists and turns. Interestingly, it didn’t keep me guessing in the way some books do — but that’s not a criticism. I was too busy being carried along by the story, enjoying it as it unfolded, to stop and try to work out where it was going.

And then there’s the ending. I absolutely loved it!
I didn’t see it coming, and it left me wanting more.

Thankfully, I’m already reading another Lee Wilson book, and I’m enjoying that just as much. Definitely an author worth reading, and Outcasts is a great book to start with.

Combine engaging dialogue, visceral descriptions, and a daemonically unique take on a murder house, and you have Outcasts. When an author can cycle me through disgust, amusement, and fascination within any few given pages, they've earned my patronage. Well done, good sir. I'm a fan.

This is a great read, I picked the Author up on Twitter and have read damn near all of his books and short stories. This one focuses on a house, its owner and the other occupants... Who then are turned loose on the world. There's dark humour, gore, thought-provoking characters and a compelling story line. Do yourself a favour and buy it.
