WHAT WAS GOING ON DURING THIS BOOK. everything that was basically built up in books 1+2 just like went out the door.

YEAH THE MATE BOND WITH TYLER IS BROKEN BUT NOW SHES PART OF THE ROYAL FAMILY + IS GOING TO CHALLENGE HER UNCLE? i am just lost.

wasn’t enough alec + lola after they realized they were mated to each other (no way you kill your first mate and automatically get a second)

stop letting me read random things on kindle unlimited, thx

The great plot was professionally written, and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!

So… why?

Why start changing the facts laid out in the previous book in the last book in the series? It’s like the author forgot the basic elements laid out in the world building and just changed things up.

So the marks gifted by the goddess are supposed to be important, right? But they weren’t. She had the FMC talking up Kyle and his mark and what it means, yet she forgets that Julian had that same mark and the qualities listed did not also apply to him. Tyler said he feels it when he hits her because of the bond, but he was able to kick her repeatedly and have her thrown in the cave and didn’t wince one. She punches Tyler way later and the only pain she felt was in her first from the bones in his face.

Then there’s when Spencer showed up at Star’s. Initially e said he tracked the blood vial. Later, when they are leaving to go to the mansion, he says he tracked “them” through their connection when they shifted. 🤔 Even that was off because when Malcom stepped up to Spencer in defense of Lola in Star’s lab, Lola said Spencer looked anger, confused then shocked when realization hit him as to who Malcom was. So how did he track “them” when they shifted if he didn’t even know Malcom existed. He even said that Alec told him he had a daughter and at the time, Alec didn’t know about Malcom’s history.

Back to the whole goddess’s mark thing. So no one said a thing to Jenny, the priestess of Wolf Creek, for her part in the oppression and suppression of people bearing the mark nor Ace’s abuse of power as acting alpha. There was this whole thing with Jenny saying she took her job seriously, yet she was condoning the crap Tyler was doing to Lola because of the bond. Why wasn’t she stripped of her powers and title? Wasn’t she also likely inner circle in a way. She didn’t even make an appearance even though her name was brought up. Why wouldn’t she be there to greet the royals? 🙄🙄

And don’t get me started on the bs of mate bonds in this book! They are supposed to be so sacred. Mate bonds can be challenged by a third party. Mates can beat the crap out of each other, even attempted murder. A new mate bond can pop into place thirty seconds after someone loses their first mate (yep, that happened).

Once Lola is facing off against Chris, suddenly she thinks she knows how to fight and all this backstory about her training and fighting in Wolf Creek comes out of nowhere after we had an intense scene earlier when they were ambushed on the way to Star’s where she admitted that she couldn’t fight in either form and that Alec was right when he said she needed to teach her wolf how to defend herself. It had only been a week or so between the two scenes! She hadn’t done any fighting training!

This book was just too ridiculous and the ending was just wide open. I can’t recommend this book or series at all. Other than the above, Lola was in her head too much and during crucial points in the story that were action scenes.

See my notes, highlights and commentary on Goodreads. Happy reading… just not this one!

The Moon Cursed series is wrapping up with Wolf Chosen, the final book in Lola's story and it was great. Fights, coups planned, mate problems, magic, a shocking surprise, and so much drama, it was an entertaining read.

Lola has been through a lot, she lived in a town that treated her as an outcast, has been lied to her entire life, had no emotional support system, has been bullied, was mated to her tormentor, and was almost killed on a few occasions. It's enough to break anyone but Lola is a survivor, she is determined to not only survive but live her life the way she wants. Everything Lola has been through was preparing her for something more. She sees how a bad pack is run, the injustices that occur not just in her pack but across multiple packs and she wants to change that, everything she's been through has made her stronger and willing to fight for a better shifter culture.

This book had a lot of relationship building. Spencer, Lola's (and Malcolm's) father, is a real character. The man finds amusement in everything but I can't get a real read on him. At times he seems like he wants to care about, maybe form a bond with his children, things are looking good. Star seems to be a stronger ally, who cares enough about a stranger, and the more I learn about her the more I want to know about what her backstory is. As for Lola's personal relationships, she and Malcolm seem to be bonding fine, still working on that brother-sister relationship, Alec is complicated but it's looking good, and Shelia is turning out to be one of the most loyal friends Lola could have ever asked for.

Who knew that everything was leading up to this unexpected conclusion. Lola is stronger than she's ever been, is determined to right the wrongs that she's become aware of, and has the support system to do it all. It looks like Lola is getting her happy ending, something she deserves, after all, she's been through. Wolf Chosen was a great conclusion to the Moon Cursed series.

3.5 enthusiastic stars! 3.5 may not sound like much, but I just can’t give this book the 4 stars I gave to books 1 & 2 because of one thing: really flawed logic and really faulty planning. I mean, Lola and Malcom agree to help Spencer overthrow the shifter king seemingly on a whim. I know that their lives are threatened because the king knows of their existence now and there’s a bounty on their heads, so the king’s gotta go, but they seem to go along with a royal coup with just a shrug. They put it before Lola’s own goals of ending her mating bond to Tyler and overthrowing her old pack’s alpha. It’s like Spencer walks in and says, “hey, let’s go 86 the king,” and they’re like, “why not.” I could have used some more debate on the matter, treating the planned regicide as the very serious and perilous prospect that it is. Then, they basically waltz in with no plan. I mean, Lola’s only role is to go find the crown, which isn’t hidden or locked up or guarded or anything, in the King’s bedroom closet, and then find her way to the throne room. But Lola never even asks, “so, how do I get there from the bedroom?” She never asks for a map. It’s just ridiculous that they would undertake such a dangerous mission with so little planning. It makes no sense.

Lola’s inner monologue also got a bit repetitive about her struggle against her bond with Tyler, and everything worked out a little TOO perfectly in the end, but I still loved the story.

But let me tell you what I loved:
-I loved that the prologue was written from Tyler’s POV. I delighted in his suffering, and his evil intentions to make Lola submit to him and then use her alpha mark to legitimize his own rule as alpha make him a completely irredeemable villain. It was very satisfying.
-P106: “Tyler wasn’t a mistake. He was a lesson. Alec was my reward.”
-Lola’s connection to her wolf in the fight against the king, where Lola takes over defense and her wolf takes over offense.
-that her mom was redeemed, and Kyle was the new Wolf Creek alpha.

A great end to the series.

I’m a bit disappointed in some things with this book. One of my main issues is last few books I felt could be slow in places and go around in circles but this one seemed to do a 180 and sped through everything so fast we didn’t have time to actually process some stuff.

I’m disappointed we didn’t see her meetings with the other alphas and we didn’t see how Wolf Creek adapted to their new found freedom. We didn’t see any of Lola coming into her power as Queen and I feel we could have seem so much more.

I gathered pretty quickly she would be the one to over throw her uncle, I didn’t really understand the need for her to steal the crown it was made up to be this big thing and then we didn’t see it mentioned again after she defeats her uncle so why was it built up to be this big thing?

I’m annoyed we didn’t get to go back to the feral shifter camp to see Mario etc and see what they wanted, they should have had a visit from Lola and the gang to explain what happened especially when she felt she was friends with everyone and she felt like she fit in there.

We don’t know what happened to Kyle or Malcolm after they stayed in Wolf Creek and that made me sad because they see a large part of this book.
She seems to change her mind pretty quickly about not wanting to even be alpha to suddenly wanting to be queen. She said multiple times she didn’t want power and suddenly she does. It seemed to quick to me.

I loved Star! She was quirky and a hell of a witch. I actually came to like Spencer too he was just as dry and sarcastic as Lola and I can’t help but think it was his plan all along for her to claim the thrown.

A good story but it could have been more insightful towards the end and the author could have took the time to explain everything a bit better.

I was really curious where this series was going! The storyline is quite different from the ones I'm used too and the books quite clearly traveled a little out of my comfort zone and yet Calder is showing with each and every book that she's still growing as an author. Therefore this might be my favorite Calder series yet. So, when this weekend this final book in the trilogy came in I could hardly wait to start reading.

This third, and last book, is everything I could have asked for. I was still unsure which direction the book was gonna take, but I was eventually really happy and satisfied how this book helped our heroine to really deal with everything that has been done to her. How things between her and Tyler end is quite satisfying, although Calder could have totally sold me a different outcome too, but the surprise in the rest of the book was even nicer!

What I loved about this trilogy is the role of the mate bond. Mostly when we read books with mate bonds it's quite clear that these two characters will end up together, one way or another. In this book we're confronted with the fact that mate bonds are not only rare, but in this case also a match between two people who clearly aren't made for each other. It's quite interesting to see it all play out AND to see it resolved like this.

I also really loved the politics in this one. I have to admit that in a way there were elements in the finale that felt a little easy, but I guess that in a way that's a little bit of wishful thinking. And I think we women are allowed to dream a little, right? Our lovely heroine at leasts ends up where she should be, even though it was maybe not what she had in mind when she started her story in the first book by escaping her pack.

I don’t know how I feel about this one. I’m glad the business with Tyler is done but as much as I enjoyed him being thrown off a cliff Lion King style - why couldn’t the bond have just transferred when Alec beat him in book 2 in the challenge? There was talk about this being a challenge for Lola but nothing actually happened. I know the author wanted Alec poisoned so Lola could realize her feelings for him and work through the betrayal without the influence of the bond, and that was important, but I feel like so much space was wasted breaking the bond with so many other plot points to pursue. It would have been a better flow for Alec and Lola to work out their issues (even if it was thru poisoning and the miracle cure Alec happened to be working on) and then take Tyler out a lot sooner than 2.5 books into a 3 book series.

There is very little reasoning in the book for Lola and Malcom to go along with Spencer’s desire to overthrow his brother. Other than him being a neglectful ruler who lets the packs all do whatever they want (and the threat on their heads for being Spencer’s kids) there is basically no mention of anything else that would make them be like “yeah, he needs to go”. Could we get more details on the toxin and what he planned to do with it? How else was he abusing his people? I’m sure he was a bad guy with what little evidence was presented, but I would have liked this fleshed out more.

could have been a great story…

But there’s not enough depth to the relationships and the story has so many meaningless scenes. Challenges that you win but no results or positive outcomes, braking bonds that can’t really be broken… the girl keeps wanting to wise up but never does… wanting to challenge an alpha when she’s weak. Extremely so. Even though we keep being told the alpha mark makes you stronger and faster but doesn’t.

I lost interest as I read the second book. The story is broken into three books. And it’s so repetitive. Repeating her inner monologue over and over.

Evryone wants this girls help but no one explains why and she’s never very useful. More just in the way and needing protection.

They also do a 180 when it comes to her father. He’s a criminal and quite suddenly they want to join his team and become criminals too and takeover a monarch, like the very next day. Even though the main girl still doesn’t know how to even shift properly. So again why on earth is everyone wanting help from this girl? She never contributes anything positive.

I don’t really recommend this series.

The Only positive id say is there isn’t a cliche s*x crazed heroin. There are a few steamy scenes, but not enough to overtake the story. then again, the story isn’t that great.

HEA: series, but yes
Cliffhanger: yes, must read all three books
Steam: Yes, light, 2/5 heat

🌶️maybe/5

There were a lot of errors in this book. Some name switches, grammar, and other inconsistencies. There was very small situations where that happened throughout the series, but it was really bad in this book. If I thought heard enough I could figure it out, but it messed up my reading flow frequently. The closer to the end of the book it got the worse it was. Otherwise- great storyline. Super interesting. I wish it wasn’t so rushed and more things were explained or stretched out. It seemed like there was a lot of unnecessary descriptions that was almost like it was just filler to make the book “longer” or something. Which is silly considering it was still a really short book. This series ultimately is more adventure and self discovery than it is romantic or spicy. I’d still like to read a spin off book about Star. Very curious to know who Winter was to her and what they experienced together. At the end of the day I am glad I read this series I just wish it had been done a little better. This had great potential to be an amazing seller and way way more popular if it had been longer, more thought out, and other things were focused on more than just being briefly mentioned. This gave rough draft more than final piece.

Such incredible Sappiness... I LOVED it!!

Wow! 4.5! This series started absolutely BRUTALLY!! Like seriously brutal. I was left exceedingly uncomfortable. Mainly because all that violence was geared towards a young woman. I was raised old fashioned... RESPECT women, ADORE women, EMPOWER women, and protect them (if they cannot protect themselves. So the first book made me REALLY uncomfortable, but to me, THAT is the TRUE power of an artist or craftsperson; to be TRULY talented you HAVE to be able to evoke strong emotions. And the first book in the series made me MAD! I wanted to find d Lola's abusers myself an MAKE THEM PAY!

And yet again, Alexis takes us on another emotional rollercoaster... She weaved the storyline into a miraculous tapestry reflecting true life, taking us through pain and sorrows , evolving relationships and friendships, joy and happiness, the whole gamut of emotions. I laughed, I cried, I celebrated and cheered... Internally of course, well except the tears. Couldn't hide those but thank fates I was alone at the time.

Truly a wonderful book for the genre and I cannot wait to read what's next!

Enjoy!

While I support my scores for books one & two, the writer, dropped too many details here.

I think this publication must have been rushed, with its glaring errors and simple typos too numerous to be comfortable. Embarrassing, actually, and shoddy work all around that took away from a compelling, interesting, and most intriguing storyline. All the mistakes, such as using Sheldon's name when Lola was obviously speaking to Chris, her uncle and Sheldon's brother, making with misspellings, dropped letters, plurals - the list is too long and, detracts from what should've been a five star book.

Then there are the hanging details. What happened to the ridiculous and extravagant collection of jewelry? I know Lola isn't materialistic, but once she'd seen all those obscenely gaudy collection of jewelry, her practical nature would have forced her to be concerned about its security and safeguarding them. She's also the type to gift special pieces to people in her inner circle, or to any of her staff (like her guards, especially the one with lots of little kids) who might need a nest egg for college funds or larger home. Lola was absolutely the most humanitarian, soft- and goodhearted person, before and after her taking the throne. However, what has always been an issue with me is her name - "Lola" just isn't a beautiful name, or one that let her blend. Sounds more appropriate for an entertainer or some other glamorous, extroverted career. "Ace" was another weird one. And, he named his son Tyler. Hmmm. Three and a.half stars.

🛑 Spoilers 🛑

Lola finally makes a run for alpha of her old pack, only to be roped by her father Spencer to help him fight for the alpha king position. They set out to make it happen. Along the way, her “mate” Tyler is killed (finally!) & she realizes she has a true mate connection with Alec (thank goodness, took long enough!). As they make their way to the alpha king, Lola’s family is kidnapped and the king threatens to kill them which forces her hand to challenge the king. And she wins! He submits and is exiled! Then Lola and her friends make a return to her old pack where she exiles the alpha and appoints her friend Kyle to take over. She then must hurry back to the castle due to her mother who had been poisoned for years by the toxin that killed Alec’s whole pack (which was Lola’s old pack’s alphas fault). Star (the witch) is able to completely detox her mother and she’s reunited with Spence’s (Lola’s father) who is her true mate. As the book closes, Lola leads the wolves and witches to a reunion. Overall good series, but the second and third books seemed rushed. More time and details would have been nice, but overall a good read.

After Lola and the crew kill off Tyler, she finds out that Alec is her second chance mate but they hold off making anything permanent until Lola helps her biological father who is a prince in the royal family dethrone his brother, the tyrant king.

She was so focused on trying to sever her bond with Tyler that they weren't able to plan very much before hitting up the castle. After everything Lola went through, she wants all the shifters to have an equal chance and that means taking the king and her current alpha of her pack down.

There was a slow and steady character growth in books 1 and 2 and then in this one, Lola is all of a sudden in touch and working excellently with her wolf.

I was a little disappointed with this final book in the series. Books 1 and 2 built up things slowly and explained things fully but then it feels like the author ran out of time and just clumped everything together and wrapped it up suddenly. I feel like things in book 3 should have been expanded and slowed down to be fully enjoyable. Although I am happy with the ending, I feel like it is unrealistic with the timeline given.

Lola is going to help her father take the throne from her uncle. She really just wants the mating bond removed with Tyler, it is getting to strong. She feels like everything is getting in the way of that. She is also trying to figure out her feelings for Alec. Lola is told more about the mission about that her father has figured out. Lola will have her head in the game but to many things are getting in the way. Lola will make a decision that has severe consequences.

The twist and turns of this book are amazing. They will literally latch on to you and you can't stop reading. Seeing Lola become so strong and fierce was a yes, girl moment. This author has crafted a series that just building until this final book. You will be mesmerized by what she has created. You will go through so many different emotions reading this book as well as series. You know how to pull us in and never let us go until the last page. I can't wait for your next series.

Lola, a nineteen years old young wolf shifter female, bears the mark of the Alpha. Being terrorized, humiliated, treated as dirt and physically abused, at the hands of the Alpha's son Tyler, she has no alternative but to leave the Wolfe Creek pack and join forces with her estranged father, Spencer, her newly discovered brother , Malcolm, a powerful witch, Skye, a protector, Sheila, a bodyguard Kyle and her love, Alec.

Their ultimate goals: A) Break her mating bond with Tyler, that she loathes.
B) Overthrow the current Shifter King, her uncle who has created so much misery and is a cruel despot.

A very well written book by a great author who keeps the reader glued to the book through the eyes and experiences of a very young woman. 5 Stars and I highly recommend this book.

Fantastic

They had a plan, it was all set in stages, as most plans go they don’t always go the way there suppose to but with this plan it turned out it was all meant to be for Lola, she finally got what she deserved and she got her happy ever after, her friends and family right by her side, I think some of her friends deserve their own story which would be a huge bonus as these characters were perfect, they made this story and they brought out Lola’s character. Some got second chances. Brilliant shifter series with its own twists and uniqueness. I’m a sucker for a twist and something new with shifters 😍
It’s a huge must read from me 5/5 stars

Pretty good

For the most part I liked this series. The characters were well developed and so was the plot. I have to say that the whole Tyler thing got old. I don't care if there was a mate bond, I don't see the wolf being desperate to be with someone who beat her and tried to kill her. It was weird. I didn't like it. Of course, everything works out. Lola was kind of irritating sometimes. She seemed kind if weak. In the end she does ok, but it wasn't realistic with how little experience she had. You have to love a happy ending though and this series has that happy ending. It was a pretty good read.

This is the last book and we still have suspense. Lola is still trying to break her bond with Tyler. Will she ever be able to? Her friends are at her side, but now her dad is in the picture. He wants her and Malcom's help to take the King down. Will they help and if they do will they pull it off? What is this attraction she has to Alec, will she ever be able to figure it out? Has Kyle earned her trust yet? Follow Lola on her journey of finding her true self and trying to break her bond.

wow!!!

I had no idea this series would end quite like this and I am thoroughly elated about it! I absolutely love the turn this book took and how it ended. It kept me on my toes and in the middle of the book I found myself furiously reading page after page to see where it was going. Kudos to the author for making this read so enjoyable and really making the characters lovable and relatable! Loved this series and this ending! I’m sure Lola has more drama being the shifter queen in a males dominated world!

love this story

I throughly reading Lola’s story. There were a few concerns with the names, example when talking about King Chris and all of sudden Spencer’s name shows up instead of Chris’s. I had to stop and read the sentence or paragraph to see who it was really. But it take away from the wonderful story. I love reading stories of girls who are able to stand up and take the lead and the strong males that support them. Alexis is a wonderful writer and I’ve enjoyed reading her stories and look forward to reading more.

This is the third book in the series and Ioved it. Alec and Lola were meant for each other…the book pulled me in from the beginning and held my attention. The series is amazing and if you love a good paranormal romance this series is a must. World building is detailed and imaginative and storyline is well written and filled with everything that makes the story an edge of the seat read, also amazing characters. As, before this is a must for those that enjoy paranormal romance (wolf shifters).

I liked how there was more wolf action in this boom compared to the others. The way her mate situation was resolved was done nicely and left me feeling extra happy inside. The support system and found family theme was great to read along with mending bridges with her actual family.

What I was having a hard time with was how everything ended in a manner that was too clean. Like it was all magically resolved.

Her dad fighting would have been more plausible but this is fiction and we love us implausible scenarios 😃

Wonderful finish to series!

I have loved this series from the beginning and was extremely happy with how it ended.

There was a few plot twists in this one that were just crazy, but it ended on a fantastic note. Lol Lola didn't know she end up in the role she did, but I loved how the Fated mate vs True Mate turned out. I really, really loved Alec!!

I recieved an ARC for my honest review.

Great series!! Lola has not has an easy road. Political machinations, unwanted mates, family turmoil and a dynamic twists you will never see coming. Overall the story was awesome and exciting. It could have used a little more editing, which at times can be a bit distracting, but I still found it to be worth the read.

This was a great trilogy. Lola was a strong heroine after she started to find her people (friends). Her fated mate, Tyler, was horrible. I liked seeing her turmoil of fighting the bond with her common sense rather then just going after him because of the bond. I was pleasantly surprise with Spencer and it all came together at the end nicely. I’m a little nervous if we’ll end up seeing Chris and Ace reappear to cause trouble somewhere down the line. Enjoyed it.

Wow what a finale, I’ve enjoyed this series and although difficult to read in parts it all came full circle, for the HEA our amazing characters deserved.
Great story and plot, loved the characters. Loads of angst, some serious moments, along with distressing scenes but the friendships and love discovered supersedes it. Some hot love scenes, and the banter in nice. Overall a good series that I enjoyed reading.

Excellent Finale

What a great ending to a great series, Lola has to go through so many trials that you have to wonder how the poor girl stays sane. There are so many twists and turns in this story it's enough to make you dizzy but throughout this book our heroine is not alone she has good friends supporting her. The climax is really unexpected but brilliantly written. A very good series by a terrific author and an interesting read.
