And two missing teens

‘”What’s the password?” Nathan prompted, his lips lifting in a smile on their own.

“Seriously?” Reena shifted from foot to foot. “How about, ‘if you don’t move out of my way this second, I’ll run you over.”

“Too long.” Nathan lifted his face to the rain and let it wet his mouth. Why was he teasing her? More important, why did it feel like flirting? He couldn’t handle adding another person in his life right now and, besides, this woman was all wrong for him. She was too…happy, too…into finding the silver lining and stuff.”’

Who doesn’t love a grumpy hero and sunshine heroine in their stories? It’s literally one of my all-time favourite tropes. That’s precisely the kind of charming protagonists we get in this ‘inspirational romance’.

Nathan, our hero is dealing with some pretty tragic, life-altering issues. Those incidents leave an indelible mark on him- mind, heart and soul, so it’s inevitable that his whole personality seems to revolve around being cautious, cynical, serious and being overly-protective. But he meets his match in the director of the town’s church teen youth group, Reena Wells. A woman who inhabits so much compassion, strength, love and understanding, that Nathan doesn’t know what to do with her. Add in a fierce yet exhilarating storm on a perilous mountain, with four people left stranded fighting the elements and nature and you’re in for a truly entertaining and thrilling adventure.

The descriptive writing was fantastic, with author P.A DePaul bringing the chaos and confusion of the whole situation to life. The fear and uncertainty in the beginning, and the stamina and determination to succeed were palpable elements in this romance, urging readers to become heavily invested in the outcome of absolutely everything, from the romances to the lives saved.

We get a brilliant mixture of engaging and thought-provoking dialogue and well-written characters, along with action, danger and love in all forms. It was a definite slow-burn romance. More subtle and sweet than raunchy or blatant but that certainly works well here.

This story was a little different to my usual fare. Not only was it a wholesome romance (who even am I?), it also dealt a little bit with God and faith. Two things I openly struggle with. However, this love story was not at all what I thought it was going to be, it was honestly so entertaining from start to finish. Not to mention it was incredibly uplifting and refreshing to read something that was delivering a message of hope without being overly preaching towards its audience. It was just a thoroughly entertaining, fairly fast paced, enjoyable romance adventure.

Great book. When a girls parent are both dead. He father's brother, which is her Uncle Nathan is there to raise, he brother left him and trusted him with that responsibility. He was so scared of messing up. Nathan agrees to chaperone a youth group hike in the Pocono even though it is not his idea if fun, especially not with the group leader Reena Wells, aka Ms.Shunshine. Nathan only agrees because hid niece wants go go. BUT when Ashleigh and another teen vanish just as storm hits, Reena steps up to search. Together, they'll need a little sunshine and a lot of trust to get out alive....

Despite non-stop danger and suffering, the wit of the two main characters in this story kept it from feeling overly dark. It was clear the hero cared deeply for his niece and while at first he blamed the heroine for their situation, his admiration for her grew as the story progressed. An excellent inspirational adventure story.

I enjoyed this story. The best part for me was all the banter between the characters. Good read.

This was a different book, I was thinking it would be a suspense but it was a trip to the wilderness gone wrong. She never thought it could turn out so wrong…

I loved it! The interactions between the hero and heroine are so much fun. I can't imagine having to deal with the constant rain while trapped on a mountain with a stubborn man and two teenagers.

Finally, a male lead who isn't a stuffed t-shirt, or "mister A-game: ready to save the day"! Such an intriguing story. Anyone else NEVER going on a mountain hike after this story? Loved it!
